In the manufacture and processing of large plastic materials, product quality is tested and verified through several techniques such as injection processing, residual stress through injection molding and shrinkage. With regards to the injection molding process, common problems such as inconsistent density is seen when different points of the product are discovered to have varying thickness levels. Sink marks in product are then evident. This occurs when there is poor molding conditions caused about by poor runner and packaging systems incorporated into the process. We designed the runner system which is possible balanced filling to cavities using CAE program $Moldflow^{TM}$ and then obtained optimal processing conditions by Taguchi's Robust Design technique.

This paper describes the optimization of injection molding conditions to minimize sink marks. Sink marks, which refer to a small depression on the surface opposite a thick wall thickness, are often encounted in injection molded plastic parts. Part geometry, material properties and processing conditions during injection molding can affect the sink mark depth. We designed the runner system which is possible balanced filling to cavities using CAE program and then obtained optimal processing conditions by Taguchi's Robust Design technique. By actual injection molding using optimized mold and molding conditions, it confirmed that sink mark depth decreased zero compared to 1mm level in the conventional mold and process.

However, even though geometrically balanced runner is used, filling imbalance have been observed. Filling imbalance could be decreased by modifying processing conditions such as injections rate, mold temperature, injection pressure, melt temperature that are related to shear, viscosity. In this study, a series of experiment was conducted to investigate filling imbalance variation when modifying runner layout and ploymer and to determine which processing condition influences as the primary cause of filling imbalance in geometrically balanced runner system. The filling imbalance was desreased up to result range of $3{\leq}DFI{\leq}8(%)$ by using a new runner system for balanced filling.

As a rotating machine element, plastic gears are more and more widely used in such as industrial machine element, since plastic gear is lighter, higher wear-resistance, and higher vibration absorbing ability than metal gears. When operating plastic parts, tooth breakage and fatigue life shortened due to increasing number of applying load and tooth flank temperature rising, such that accuracy of plastic gears is divided from allowable range to cause vibration and noise. On this study, a internal plastic gears are developed which improved the filling balance molding process by a new injection mold structure. The new mold structure called HR3P(hot runner type 3plate mold). As the result from this studies, we obtained a very accurate roundness internal gears by using design of experiment.
해양심층수와 키토산올리고당이 인간유방암세포의 혈관내피세포 성장인자 및 그 수용체의 발현에 미치는 영향

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) has been thought as a crucial regulator of angiogenesis for development, growth, proliferation, and metastasis of breast cancer. VEGF promotes angiogenesis by binding its receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs), VEGFR-1 and -2. In this study, we evaluated the effect of deep-sea water (DSW) on expressions of chitosan oligosaccharide (COS-L)-mediated VEGF and its receptors induced by phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate (TPA) in MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells. We found that the mixtures of COS-L 1 mg/mL and DSW with various hardness have not shown cytotoxicity on MDAMB- 231 cells in MTT assay, and also VEGF expression induced by TPA was significantly decreased in a range of 0.05 to 3 mg/ mL of COS-L. DSW of more than hardness 400 enhanced the COS-L-mediated inhibition of VEGF expression. In the case of VEGFR-1 and R-2, DSW of more than hardness 200 and 400 significantly increased the COS-L-mediated inhibition of VEGFR expressions, respectively. These results indicate that DSW improves the inhibitory effect of COS-L on the expressions of VEGF and its receptors. Therefore using together DSW and COS-L is effective for prevention of breast cancer by down-regulating the expressions of VEGF and its receptors that leads to inhibiting angiogenesis.

본 실험에서는 마카를 기능성식품 소재로 사용하기 위한 가능성을 알아보기 위하여 마카분말을 다양한 용매로 추출하고 추출수율, 총 폴리페놀 함량, 전자공여능, SOD 유사활성 및 아질산염 소거능 등을 측정하여 최적의 추출조건을 확립하고자 하였다. 일반성분 분석 결과 수분, 조단백질, 조지방, 회분 및 탄수화물 함량은 각각 6.57%, 12.83%, 1.05%, 4.80 및 74.75%로 나타났다. 추출수율은 물을 사용할 경우 46.2%로 메탄올, 에탄올, 아세톤 등으로 추출하는 것보다 약 2∼200배 높게 나타났다. 추출용매에 따른 총 폴리페놀 함량은 물 추출액에서 328.68 ㎎/100 mL로 가장 높게 나타났다. 전자공여능은 메탄올 추출액이 52.36%로 가장 높았고 아질산염 소거능은 pH 1.2의 조건에서 물 추출액이 77.51%로 가장 높게 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 종합하여 최적의 추출용매로 물을 선정하였고 물 추출 온도(30, 70, 100℃)와 시간(1, 3, 5시간)을 달리하여 생리활성 물질의 함량변화를 측정한 결과 100℃에서 3시간 또는 5시간 추출할 때 총 폴리페놀 함량, 전자공여능 및 SOD 유사활성이 다른 조건에서보다 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 시간과 에너지의 효율적 측면을 고려하여 마카분말을 100℃에서 3시간 물로 추출하는 것이 가장 적합할 것으로 판단된다. This study was conducted to determine the optimal extraction conditions for maca by comparing the yields, total polyphenol contents, superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activity and the nitrite scavenging ability. The proximate composition analysis showed 6.57% moisture, 12.83% crude protein, 1.05% crude fat, 4.80% ash and 74.75% carbohydrate. Maca was extracted with 7 different solvents (water, methanol, ethanol, acetone, ethyl acetate, chloroform and hexane) and the extracts were tested for biological activities. The extraction yields of water, methanol and ethanol extracts were 46.2%, 21.4% and 16.8%, respectively. Acetone, ethyl acetate, chloroform and hexane exhibited very low extraction yield, ranging from 0.2 to 1.0%. Total polyphenol contents and the nitrite scavenging ability were the highest in water extract. Electron donating ability and the SOD-like activity were the highest in methanol extract. When water extract was drawn out at different extraction temperatures (30, 70, 100℃) and time (1, 3, 5 hr), the improved biological activities (total polyphenol contents, electron donating ability, SOD-like activity and nitrite scavenging ability) were found in extracts treated at 100℃ for 3 or 5 hrs.
