The wilderness, in the form of forest, and the civilized court of knights and ladies often appear as binary oppositions in medieval European romances. The mythical inhabitant of the wilderness, the wild man, in turn, has been considered an oppositional figure to the knight. This essay tries to explicate the relationship between these oppositions by exploring two fourteenth-century Middle English romances where the courtly knights become wild men. In Ywain and Gawain the court and its representative knight are not the norm according to which wild-man figures and even an animal define themselves. Rather, Ywain not only compares badly against the monstrous shepherd of the wilderness, but also regains his knightly identity with the aid of a beast whose various images overlap with those of the knight himself. In Sir Orfeo, the harper-king exiled in the wilderness is empowered and able to restore his queen as well as his kingdom when he recognizes the element of brute force and death in a fairy hunting scene. It is my contention that the experience of wildness in the wilderness by the courtly knights align them with the force of nature that in turn empowers their civility and courtliness.

수경재배 환경에서 딥러닝 기반 불량 모종 진단을 위한 생육 데이터 구축에 관한 연구

스마트 농업에 대한 관심과 지원이 증가하면서 스마트 팜 분야의 빅데이터 분석 기술 및 인공지능에 대한 연구 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 인공지능 연구를 위해 대용량의 데이터와 양질의 라벨링이 선행되어야 하며 특히 수경재배의 데이터가 부족한 현황이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 수경재배 환경에서 딥러닝 기반 불량 모종 진단을 위한 생육 데이터 구축에 관한 연구를 제안하여 수경재배 데이터 산업에 기여하고자 한다.

대형마트 진입이 전통시장 서비스 개선에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 대형마트의 진입이 전통시장 상인들의 서비스 개선에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 서비스 개선의 지표로는 전통시장의 서비스 중 대표적인 불편사항으로 지적되어온 신용카드 결제시행 여부를 활용하였다. 2008년과 2010년 전통시장실태조사 자료를 이용한 실증분석 결과, 대형마트의 진입은 동일 시군구에 위치한 전통시장의 신용카드 결제시행률을 약3.9% 포인트 가량 상승시키는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 대형마트 진입으로 인하여 지역시장 내 경쟁강도가 높아질 경우 수수료, 단말기 도입 등 신용카드 결제시행에 따른 비용증가에도 불구하고 전통시장은 서비스 품질 개선을 통하여 고객의 이탈을 막으려는 유인을 가짐을 보여준다. 본 연구는 대형마트 진입에 따른 경쟁의 증가가 전통시장의 서비스 개선을 통하여 소비자 후생에 영향을 줄 수 있다는 실증결과를 제시하였다는 점에서 의의를 가진다. In the paper, we examine the effect of large discount stores` entry on improvement in service quality of traditional markets in Korea. To measure service quality, we use the credit card acceptance rate of a traditional market that is considered as a major complaint of shoppers in the traditional market. Using data on Survey on Traditional Markets in 2008 and 2010, we find that the entry of large discount stores into a county results in 3.9% point increase in the credit card acceptance rate of a traditional market in that county. The result suggests that merchants in traditional markets have a strong incentive to improve their service quality to avoid the risk of losing customers in spite of the increased costs due to the fee paid for credit card transactions. The study provides empirical evidence that the intensified competition increases consumer welfare through improvement in service quality of incumbents.

대학 운동중단 선수의 진로의식 성숙이 진로준비 행동에 미치는 영향

이 연구는 대학 운동중단 선수의 진로의식 성숙이 진로준비 행동에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 구명하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이 연구는 서울과 경기도에 소재하고 있는 대학교에 체육특기자로 입학한 학생 중 운동을 중단한 학생 총 260명을 편의표본추출법으로 표집하였다. 그리고 자료는 컴퓨터에 개별 입력(coding)시키고, Window용 SPSS 21.0 Version 통계프로그램을 이용하여 기술통계분석과 탐색적 요인분석, 신뢰도 분석, 확인적 요인분석, 표준중다회귀분석을 실시하여 검증하였다. 이상의 연구방법과 절차를 통하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 대학 운동중단 선수의 진로의식 성숙이 정보수집활동에 미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과, 부분적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 대학 운동중단 선수의 진로의식 성숙이 도구구비활동에 미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과, 부분적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 대학 운동중단 선수의 진로의식 성숙이 목표달성 활동에 미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과, 부분적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of the career maturity to career preparation behavior of dropout collegiate athletes. For this purpose, a questionnaire was administered to 280 dropout college athletes who are residing in Seoul and Gyeonggi area, We used 260 data for analysis. The reliability and validity test of the questionnaire itself was conducted by using SPSS Window 21.0 program; the result of descriptive statistical analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, standard multiple regression analysis are as follows; The results were as being follows. First, the career maturity is partially not influences on the information collection behavior of dropout collegiate athletes. Second, the career maturity is partially influences on the equipment behavior of dropout collegiate athletes. Third, the career maturity is partially influences on the achieve the goal behavior of dropout collegiate athletes.

언어적 자아 형성: 중세 고해신부의 라틴어 권위와 여성 신비주의자의 자국어 인식

As a "woman mystical writer," with every single word in the title carrying precariousness and anxiety in the late Middle Ages, Margery Kempe, nevertheless had a number of models she knew and could have known to learn from, to emulate and even to rival in the continental Europe. This essay looks at the relationship between these women and their confessor-scribes in the process of authoring their work and how the knowledge of this process influenced Margery, focusing in particular on the aspects of the power play between the vernacular and Latin as they each represented the women mystics and the male clergy. While many of the holy women of the continent including Bridget of Sweden whom Margery had a great respect for and adopted more or less as her role model recorded their visions and spiritual experiences in the vernacular such as Swedish, their writings were promptly translated into Latin usually by their confessor-scribes thereby ensuring clerical endorsement and a wide circulation. It was either the Latin texts or the vernacular translations of those Latin texts that were read widely throughout Europe including England. Margery was certainly aware of the circumstances surrounding the setting down in writing of a woman`s spiritual experience which required foremost clerical involvement for authorization as well as practical support it offers which usually came from the woman`s confessor. However, Margery was no Bridget of Sweden or most of the continental women mystics whose works and vitae were known in England. Her scribes including her confessor were either unenthusiastic or less-than-competent or both. The proem of The Book of Margery Kempe makes it abundantly clear that she took the initiative in launching her book project and the success of the collaboration between Margery and the confessor-scribe owes a great deal to her determination and her prayer. Margery`s strategy to gain authority for her book manifests itself dramatically in her effort to attribute the symbolic and practical power of Latin to vernacular languages as well as Latinity to her own English text.

Composite columns are increasingly used due to the construction of super-tall buildings and large-scale buildings. Studies on the shapes of and construction technologies for structural members using steel tubes are being conducted actively. Welded built-up CFT columns previously developed and commercialized by the authors of this study (ACT-1 columns) are structurally stable and economically efficient. However, the 1m limit in the width of the columns and their small interior spaces impose a difficulty in installing reinforcing materials and thus deteriorate the ease and efficiency with which they are constructed. This study suggests placing thick plates at the centers of the surfaces of the existing ACT-1 column and installing a binding frame (binding frames) at the central thick plates to enhance the integrity and resist lateral pressure caused by concrete casting. Finite element analysis was conducted with the variables of the number and cross-sectional size of the binding frame and the cross-sectional size of the steel tube to estimate the structural behavior of the steel tubes. Hydraulic tests were conducted to analyze load-displacement relations and identify the influence of the binding frames on the relations. The variables in the tests were the number and cross-sectional size of the binding frame, welding details, column joint and the cross-sectional size of the steel tube
