Surface replication is playing an important role in the assessment of creep damage and remaining life of high temperature components. As the replication procedures, however, have not been standardized in domestic industry, its standardization is proposed in this study. For this purpose, the 2.25Cr-IMo steel was heat treated(5 min at 1,300 0C and oil quenched) to produce a simulated HAZ microstructure, and crept in air at 575 0C and under 120 MPa to produce artificial cavities. Then, the effect of surface preparation procedures on the quality of replicas was investigated using this sample. As a result, it was demonstrated that the presence of cavities may be observed readily or missed depending on the surface preparation procedures followed. Therefore it is essential to repeat three polishing/etching cycles at least in order to reveal cavitation damage accurately, even though it may be tedious or time-consuming.

중안연산장치의 캐쉬메모리는 현대컴퓨터구조에서 가장 중요한 부분을 차지해왔다. 이 사실은 컴퓨터구조를 연구하는 분들의 연구 논문의 양으로도 입증된다. 이렇게 캐쉬메모리에 대한 관심이 집중된이유는 중안연산장치와 마이크로프로세서에서 널리 사용된다. 1980년 이후로 컴퓨터구조에 있어 명령복잡형에서 명령축약형의 일대 혁신이 일어났다. 이러한 변화는 중앙연산장치 뿐만아니라 캐쉬메모리 디자인에도 영향을 미치게된다. 즉, 늘어난 기억장치대역을 요구하는 명령축약형 컴퓨터의 발달이 미래의 메모리시스템에 더욱 짐을 지우게 된다. 이러한 사실이 캐쉬메모리 디자인에 있어서, 큰 성능 차이 아래에서 구성이 제안된다. 이구성이 일반적인 캐쉬구성에 비해 성능향상을 가져오는 것을 시뮬레이션을 통해 보이고 실제구현방법도 논의된다. CPU cache memory had been one of the most important components in modern computer architecture. This is evidenced by the sheer amount of published research on this topic by many different computer system architects. One of the main reasons behind this interest in CPU and the main memory. Therefore, CPU cache memory is used widely in various advanced architectures and microprocessors. There has been a major architectural change since 1980, that is from CISC (Complex Instruction Set Computer) to RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer). Not only CPU design but also cache memory design is sensitive to the effect from this change. That is, the advent of high-speed RISC architecture with an increased memory bandwidth requirement puts an increased burden on the memory system for future architectures. This fact also raises another problem for cache memory design, efficient cache design under an increased burden on the memory system, or efficient cache design under a large performance gap. The HSC(Heterogeneous Segregated Cache) scheme is proposed in this study. This scheme is shown to enhance the performance of cache memory over that of conventional schemes. A simulation-based performance study to compare the performance of HSC scheme with the conventional scheme is presented. Also the actual implementation methods are discussed.

` The major claims, research evidence, and the pros and cons of both Krashen's and Cummins' L 2 acquisition theories have been considered. Krashen's model, his notion of comprehensible input in particular, seems to offer encouraging suggestions for FL teachers. Cummins' two hypotheses appear a most plausible theoretical framework in that they may provide a relatively coherent account of large numbers of contradictory findings of various early and more recent studies on the interrelationships between bilingualism and cognitive and academic development. Today, more than ever, education in languages other than one's L1 is still the norm rather than exception in many parts of the world. Diverse definitions of bilingual education have been presented and three distinctive models of bilingual education were discussed in connection with various goals. Apparently conflicting outcomes of rsesarch studies on bilingual education have been found to be ascribable to the differences in goals, models, and designs. Three major types of bilingual education models--transitional, emancipatory, and enrichment--have been considered. Bilingual education programs in the U.S. are in essence transitional and compensatory in nature. In contrast with the enthusiastic advocacy of the academic circle, the U.S. Congress and the general public tend to view bilingual education as anti-poverty or poor-relief measures. Immersion programs, the typical form of bilingual education in Canada, have been reported to be successful in most cases. However, immersion has raised a few problems which remain to be solved. Scanty literature available on bilingual education in the Soviet Union and China indicates that bilingual education in both countries is being implemented for the purpose of establishing Russian and Modern Standard Chinese, respectively, as a lingua franca. Lastly, implications of research findings for policy-making with reference to overseas Korean residents have been discussed, along with those for early English teaching in elementary schools as well as for innovative TEFL in Korea.
