Design and operation of $1MW_{th}$ pulverized coal combustion testing facility are described. Also the influence of air staging on NOx emission and burnout of coal flames was investigated in this facility. The test facility consisted of coal feeding system, firing system and flue gas treatment system. A top-fired externally air staging burner was adopted in order to avoid influence of gravity on the coal particles and for easy maintenance. Distribution of temperature and chemical species concentration of coal flames could be measured in vertical pass of furnace. Main fuel was pulverized (83.4% less than $80{\mu}m$) Australian high bituminous coal. From variety of test conditions, overall excess air ratio was selected at 1.2(20% excess air). Tho study showed that increasing the staged air resulted in lower NOx omission, and it was suggested to be more than 40% of the total combustion air for the substantial NOx reduction. Sufficient burnout was not achievable when NOx emission was less than 500ppm. Also, the amount of core air did not influence tho NOx reduction.
Determination of Density Noise in a Two-Phase-Flow by X-ray Computer Tomography

본 논문은 X-선 컴퓨터 단층촬영장치에 의한 이상류(二相流)의 구조 확인을 위한 새로운 방법을 제시한다. 통계학적인 파라미터의 단면분포는 컴퓨터 상재생(相再生) 방법에 의해 밀도소음 스그널에서 얻게되며 상재생은 여러가지 상재생을 위한 산출모델중 반복법을 이용했으며 모멘트에 의한 통계학적 파라미터의 분포결과는 조사하는 유형(流型)의 특성을 알 수 있으므로 안전에 기여한다. It has been shown that the tomographic analysis of a stochastic process is possible. The distribution of the relevant statistical parameters can be displayed. The developed technique is highly suitable for the identification of flow-patterns and it can be used to describe the distribution of the noise components of two-phase-flow.<br/> For this purpose reconstruction algorithms have been implemented and afterwards used to analyse the measured density noise. This method can be further improved, by 1) Reducing the expenses of the measuring device, 2) Decreasing the measuring time and 3) Decreasing the calcuation time.<br/> The application of the described procedure to a geometry of stationary X-ray source and detectors is possible.

The following areas are covered : 1) principles or different modes of operation of tidal power stations, 2) mathematical base of power calculation, and 3) problems of tidal power.
