뇌교 경색 후에 생긴 통증을 동반한 삼차신경 감각신경병증 1예

Trigeminal sensory neuropathy is a clinical diagnosis in which the main feature is facial numbness limited to the territory ofone or more sensory branches of the trigeminal nerve. We report a 44-year-old woman who presented with numbness andneuralgic pain at her left face. Brief electric shock-like pain lasted about a few seconds and occurred at least 5 times a day.The pain was triggered by chewing and facial washing. On neurologic examination, light touch sensation was decreased inthe V2 and V3 dermatomes of the left face including the tongue, lips, and gum. While pinprick and temperature sensation werepreserved. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a left pontine infarction. Presumably, an ischemic injury mayhave led to increased neuronal activity in the trigeminothalamic tract. We suggest the paroxysmal facial pain is possible as anepisodic activation of the trigeminal neurons by triggering. (Korean Journal of Stroke 2007;9:91-93)

The bumblebee, Bombus ignitus (Hymenoptera: Apidae), is a valuable natural resource that is widely utilized for greenhouse pollination in South Korea. Understanding the magnitude of genetic diversity and geographic relationships is of fundamental importance for long term preservation and utilization. As a first step, we sequenced a partial COI gene of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) corresponding to the “DNA barcode” region and the complete internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) of nuclear ribosomal DNA from 88 individuals collected in nine South Korean localities. The complete ITS2 sequences were longest among known insects, ranging in size from 2,034 bp ~ 2,052 bp, harboring two duplicated 112-bp long repeats. The 658-bp long mtDNA sequences provided only six haplotypes with a maximum sequence divergence of 0.61% (4 bp), whereas the ITS sequences provided 84 sequence types with a maximum sequence divergence of 1.02% (21 sites). The combination of the current COI data with those of published data suggest that the B. ignitus in South Korea and China are genetically a large group, but those in Japan can be roughly separated into another group. Overall, a very high per generation migration ratio, a very low level of genetic fixation, and no discernable hierarchical population were found to exist among the South Korean populations of B. ignitus , which suggests panmixia. This finding is consistent with our understanding of the dispersal capability of the species.

A Case of Psychogenic Paraplegia Documented During Sleep by Video Monitoring

Psychogenic paraplegia is an uncommon conversion disorder characterized by nonorganic loss of motor function precipitated by some type of traumatic event. A 60-year-old man was referred from neurosurgery department with the chief complaint of paraplegia. One year ago he was involved in a motor vehicle accident. Whole spine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and electrophysiological study couldn’t explain the organic cause of paraplegia. We decided to observe him during his sleep as we suspected a psychogenic cause for the symptoms. Irregular, non-stereotyped and involuntary leg movements were documented during sleep by video monitoring, and he was diagnosed as psychogenic paraplegia. In conclusion, if a psychogenic paraplegia is suspected, video monitoring during sleep could be recommended as a differentiation tool from neurological disorder.

정부는 탈북자들이 입국할 경우 정착지원제도를 통해 주거지를 알선하고 있으며, 탈북자들은 주로 일자리 확보가 용이한 도시지역의 아파트를 선호하고 있다. 그러나 아파트는 고층이면서 열에너지와 가연성 내장재를 사용하고 있어 화재위험이 잠재해 있으나 이에 대한 소방안전 교육과 훈련이 이루어지지 않고 있어 화재시 인적·물적 피해의 위험에 노출되어 있다. 이에 본 연구는 아파트에서 거주하는 탈북자들을 대상으로 설문을 실시하여 소방안전에 대한 인식을 도출하고 이를 바탕으로 이들의 거주지 소방안전 향상방안을 제시하고자 한다. When defectors enter the country, they arrange their residence through a settlement support system. Defectors prefer apartments in urban areas where job hunting is easy. However, the apartments are high-rises and use thermal energy and flammable interior material; therefore, there is a risk of fire, but fire safety training is not conducted, and there is the risk for human and material damage in the case of fire. The purpose of this study is to suggest ways to improve the fire safety of residents based on the results of a questionnaire on defectors living in apartments.

산업현장에서의 안전규제 적용실태 연구 - 석유화학공장을 중심으로 -

특별한 지하자원이 없는 한국에서의 석유화학산업은 전자ㆍ자동차 등의 업종에 기초소재를 공급하는 핵심 산업으로 위치하고 있으나 유해․위험물질을 다루는 공정상 화재나 폭발 등 위험이 상존해 있고 이로부터 현장의 인적ㆍ물적 안전보호를 위해 규제위주로 재해예방활동을 하고 있다. 하지만 개별법에 따라 정형화된 안전규제가 필요한 만큼 이행되지 않는다면, 당초 의도한 안전규제의 합목적성과 안정성이 훼손될 뿐만 아니라 공적 및 사적행정력의 낭비를 초래하여 전체 석유화학산업의 경쟁력을 떨어뜨리는 요소로 작용하게 된다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 석유화학플랜트에 적용하고 있는 대표적인 안전규제 항목들이 안전을 위해 필요한지와 이들이 규정대로 이행되고 있는지 규명하였으며, 연구결과에 따르면, 일부 규제의 필요성과 이행수준면에서 신뢰도가 낮은 것으로 나타났다. However, depending on the actual implementation of standardized safety regulations as necessary if not originally intended, proper objectivity and reliability of safety regulations, as well as impaired resulting in a waste of public and private administrative power and petrochemical industries and the competitiveness of the entire drop factor will. Accordingly, this study petrochemical plant is applied to a representative safety regulations, items for their safety are needed and these regulations as being implemented that was identified, according to a study, some of the need for regulation and implementation both in terms of reliability was low.
