<P>Sb<SUB>2</SUB>S<SUB>3</SUB>-sensitized mesoporous-TiO<SUB>2</SUB> solar cells using several conjugated polymers as hole-transporting materials (HTMs) are fabricated. We found that the cell performance was strongly correlated with the chemical interaction at the interface of Sb<SUB>2</SUB>S<SUB>3</SUB> as sensitizer and the HTMs through the thiophene moieties, which led to a higher fill factor (FF), open-circuit voltage (<I>V</I><SUB>oc</SUB>), and short-circuit current density (<I>J</I><SUB>sc</SUB>). With the application of PCPDTBT (poly(2,6-(4,4-bis-(2-ethylhexyl)-4<I>H</I>-cyclopenta[2,1-<I>b</I>;3,4-<I>b</I>′]dithiophene)-<I>alt</I>-4,7(2,1,3-benzothiadiazole)) as a HTM in a Sb<SUB>2</SUB>S<SUB>3</SUB>-sensitized solar cell, overall power conversion efficiencies of 6.18, 6.57, and 6.53% at 100, 50, and 10% solar irradiation, respectively, were achieved with a metal mask.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/nalefd/2011/nalefd.2011.11.issue-11/nl2026184/production/images/medium/nl-2011-026184_0005.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nl2026184'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

This document is the third part of the guidelines for the interpretation and post-processing of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) studies. These consensus recommendations have been developed by a Consensus Committee of the Korean Society of Cardiovascular Imaging (KOSCI) to standardize the requirements for image interpretation and post-processing of CMR. This third part of the recommendations describes tissue characterization modules, including perfusion, late gadolinium enhancement, and T1- and T2 mapping. Additionally, this document provides guidance for visual and quantitative assessment, consisting of "What-to-See," "How-To," and common pitfalls for the analysis of each module. The Consensus Committee hopes that this document will contribute to the standardization of image interpretation and post-processing of CMR studies.

Purpose: Pediatric asthma is the most common chronic disease in children. It negatively affects the health-related quality of life (QoL) in children with this disease and of their caregivers. This study evaluated the relationship between clinical disease severity and the QoL of patients with asthma and their caregivers. Methods: The study included 247 patients with asthma and their caregivers. The patients and caregivers completed the Korean Pediatric Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire and the Korean Pediatric Asthma Caregivers Quality of Life Questionnaire, respectively, during clinic visits. The results were expressed as the mean score for each domain. All items were rated from 1 to 5:1, low QoL; and 5, satisfactory QoL. Results: The emotion and activity QoL scores of boys were significantly higher than those of girls (P=0.001). The QoL of both patients and their caregivers was correlated more with the patients` subjective symptom scores than with the clinical severity of asthma or with lung function. Conclusion: The QoL of patients with asthma and their caregivers decreased as asthmatic symptoms became worse. Controlling asthma symptoms is important for improving the QoL of both patients and their caregivers. Patients and their caregivers need to be evaluated and counseled during asthma treatment to improve their QoL.

Tamoxifen, which is often used in breast cancer therapy, has also been used in the treatment of patients with advanced and recurrent endometrial carcinoma. Tamoxifen has been shown to have significant benificial effects in the treatment of breast cancer patients as hormonal therapy. However, there is evidence that tamoxifen may affect other hormone sensitive organs, including the uterus and ovaries. An increased risk of endometrial polyps, endometrial hyperplasia and endometrial cancer has been reported in tamoxifen treated women. We are able to make this report because we have experienced uterine endometrial carcinosarcoma which is developed in a patient treated with tamoxifen for five years following a modified radical mastectomy due to breast cancer in our hospital.

Background: To compare the mobilizing effects and toxicities of two different doses of cyclophosphamide (CY) plus lenograstim (glycosylated G-CSF), we performed a prospective randomized study by enrolling patients suffering with either high-risk Non-Hodgkin`s lymphoma (NHL) or breast cancer undergoing ablative chemotherapy. Methods: The NHL patients received 4 cycles of CHOP and the breast cancer patients received 2-3 cycles of FAC (FEC) adjuvant chemotherapy. Then, the patients were randomly allocated to receive CY 4g/㎡ (arm A) or 1.5g/㎡ (arm B) in combination with lenograstim. Large volume leukapheresis was carried out and it was continued daily until the target cell dose of 2×10(6) CD34+ cell/kg was reached. Results: Twenty-seven patients were enrolled in the study. The median number of leukaphereis sessions actually performed was 2.5 sessions in arm A and 3 sessions in arm B. The target cell dose was obtained with the median number of one leukapheresis session in both arms of the study (p=0.09). The collected number of CD34+ cells in the leukapheresis products was higher in arm A than arm B (22.4 vs. 9.9×10(6)/kg, respectively, p=0.05). Grade III or IV leukopenia was present in 14/15 patients (94%) in arm A and in 1/12 patients (8%) in arm B (p<0.0001). Grade III or IV thrombocytopenia was present in 8/15 patients (54%) in arm A, but this was not present in any patients of arm B (p=0.0004). Neutropenic fever occurred in 6/15 patients (40%) in arm A, and in 1/12 patients (8%) in arm B (p=0.09). The hematological recovery of the leukocytes and platelets after transplantation was not statistically different between the two doses. Conclusion: Low-dose CY plus lenograstim is a safe and effective mobilizing regimen.
Effects of Fetal Mesencephalic Cell Grafts on the Intrastriatal 6-hydroxydoapmine Lesioned Rats

The effects of fetal mesencephalic cell grafts on the restoration of nigrostriatal dopaminergic function were studied in the intrastriatal 6-hydroxydopamine-lesioned rats. Four weeks after lesioning, transplantation of ventral mesencephalic cells from embryonic day 14 fetuses showed the number of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) positive cells and fiber outgrowth in the grafted striatum, and significantly ameliorated symptomatic motor behavior of the animals, as determined by apomorphine-induced rotation. Furthermore, in substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc), the numbers of TH cells and fibers were markedly restored. Dopamine content of ipsilateral SNc was close to that of contralateral SNc (91.9⁑9.8%) in the transplanted animals, while the ratio was approximately 32% in sham-grafted animals. These results indicate that grafted cells restored the activity for the dopaminergic neurons located in SNc, although they were transplanted into striatum. In addition, we showed that the implanted fetal cells expressed high level of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), suggesting that the transplanted fetal cells might serve as a dopamine producer and a reservoir of neurotrophic factors. These results may be helpful in consideration of the therapeutic transplantation at early stage of PD.
