      • A report of two provisional micro-lepidopteran pests from Jeju island

        Jeju Island has been facing to threat of high-risk invasive pests from tropical areas. To protect domestic agriculture from those invasive pests, APQA has conducted a regular monitoring program on Jeju Island. We collected especially phototactic heteroceran pests by light bucket trap and identified them using their superficial appearances, and also mitochondria COI gene. As a result, a total of 24 families, 136 genera, 193 species, and 819 individuals were collected from around Jeju Island in 2023. Among them, two unidentified epidopteran pests, Palpita sp. (Crambidae) and Xyrosaris sp. (Yponomeutidae) were collected. In the present study, we report two unidentified micro-lepidopteran pests using superficial characteristics and mitochondria COI gene.

        This paper proposes a CMOS Readout Integrated Circuit (ROIC) for Infrared Focal Plane Array (IRFPA) detector, which is key component in uncooled thermal imaging system. The ROIC was designed using 0.35㎛ design rule 2P4M (double poly four metal) N-well P-sub process, 32 by 32 two dimension array and pixel size 50㎛ by 50㎛. Our proposed ROIC is mixed mode signal circuit which has both of the analog and digital signal part in a same chip. As a digital part circuit, readout circuit needs pixel selecting signal generator, and in a analog part, signal amplification is performed with the lowest noise. Input generation clock block was designed to generator ROIC inside signal and X-Y decoder was designed for the pixel selecting generator. In additions, folded cascade differential amplifier was designed for current flow to bolometer signal amplification and integration and low noise.

      • S-695 Bickerstaff brainstem encephalitis in a patient with ankylosing spondylitis on adalimumab therapy

        The Bickerstaff brainstem encephalitis (BBE) is a very rare neurological manifestation which causes ophthalmoplegia, ataxia, and impaired consciousness. We report the first case of BBE after using adalimumab, TNF-α inhibitor, in patients with well-controlled ankylosing spondylitis (AS). A 30-year-old woman visited our hospital due to unexplainable general weakness and dizziness. She was diagnosed with AS in 2003 and was treating with adalimumab from 2 years ago. She had no antecedent infection within 3 months. On admission, the vital was stable and general physical and neurological examination were normal. There were no abnormal findings on laboratory examination, Brain MRI, Chest CT and abdominal CT. On 3rd hospital day, the cultures of blood, sputum, urine for detection of viral and bacterial pathogens were all negative. However, she complained headache, nausea, and aggravating weakness of extremities. Cerebrospinal fluid was transparent with a pressure of 125 mmH2O, with no pleocytosis. On neurological examination, upper and lower muscle power decreased to medical research council grade 3. Later, she developed limb ataxia, spasticity, acute opthalmoplegia, hyperreflexia, and disturbance of consciousness to drowsy state. Nerve conduction study, electromyogram and evoked potential study were normal. The patient was clinically suspicious of BBE, therefore, we examined anti-GQ1b antibody and started treating with anti-viral agent, high dose methylprednisolone (1g per day), and intravenous gammaglobulin (IVIg). On 6 hospital day, she transferred to another hospital then she completed IVIg treatment for 5 days, and received rituximab with high dose prednisolone. Two weeks later, anti-GQ1b Ab IgG was positive (1:200), then finally, she diagnosed with BBE. After treatment, her mental status improved and ophthlmoplegia was recovered. She is still treating with prednisolone. The development of BBE in our patient may be secondary to anti-TNF-α treatment, therefore, she remains off anti-TNF-α treatment. Although a causal relationship between BBE and TNF-α inhibitor cannot be proven, physicians should consider BBE when patients treating anti-TNF-α treatment developed ataxia, ophthalmoplegia and mental change.

        하엽, 삼백초 및 와송으로 구성된 식물복합추출물의 항노화 화장품 소재로서의 응용성 연구

        본 연구에서는 효과적이고 안전한 화장품 성분 탐색을 위해 항산화 활성 가이드라인에 따라 다양한 식물 추출물을 대상으로 효능을 확인하였으며 이 중 가장 효능이 좋은 식물을 발굴하고 이를 최적의 비율로 혼합하여 Charmzone Extract (CZE)로 명명하였다. CZE는 하엽(Nelumbo nucifera leaves), 삼백초(Saururus chinensis) 및 와송(Orostachys japonica)으로 구성된 식물복합추출물로, 본 연구에서는 CZE의 항노화 화장품 원료로서의 개발 가능성을 확인해 보고자 하였다. CZE는 자유 라디칼 소거 활성을 가지고 있었으며, 인간 각질 형성세포주인 HaCaT 및 인간 섬유아세포 NHDF에서 활성산소종의 생성을 억제하고 총항산화능을 증가시켰다. 그리고 NHDF에서 제1형 프로콜라겐의 분비를 촉진하였고, B16F10 세포에서 멜라닌의 생성을 감소시켰으며, RAW264.7 세포에서 lipopolysaccharide 자극에 의한 산화질소의 생성을 농도 의존적으로 저해하였다. 또한, CZE는 HaCaT의 이동을 촉진하는 효능을 나타내었다. 결과를 종합하면, CZE는 항산화, 주름개선, 미백, 항염증 및 상처치유의 다효능을 나타내며, 이러한 효능을 통해 피부 기능을 향상시킬 수 있을 것이라고 기대된다. 그러므로 식물복합추출물 CZE는 피부 항노화용 화장품 성분으로 응용 가능하다. In this study, various plant extracts were screened for the effective and safe skin care ingredient according to the antioxidant activity assay guidelines. We selected an optimized combination herbal extract, Charmzone extract (CZE), which composed of Nelumbo nucifera leaves, Saururus chinensis and Orostachys japonica. CZE exerted free radical scavenging activity. It reduced reactive oxygen species formation and increased total antioxidant capacities in human keratinocyte (HaCaT) and normal human dermal fibroblasts (NHDF). CZE also leaded procollagen type 1 secretion in NHDF and decreased cellular melanin contents in B16F10. The production of nitric oxide was decreased by CZE in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated RAW264.7 in a dose dependent manner. Therefore, it is concluded that CZE can be applied for naturally derived anti-aging functional skin care ingredient for anti-oxidation, wrinkle enhancement, whitening, anti-inflammation and wound healing of skin.

        PIV 기법을 이용한 Side stream 저압막 모듈 유입구 구조개선 검증에 관한 연구

        목적 : 본 연구에서는 실제 사용되는 사이드 스트림 방식의 저압막 모듈을 대상으로 유입부의 수리구조를 개선하여 베셀로 유입되는 유량을 수직으로 균등하게 분포시킬 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 하였으며, 이를 실험적으로 검증하고자 하였다. 방법 : 입자영상유속(particle image velocimetry, PIV)장치를 이용하여 기존 대비 막 모듈내 유입 유량의 균등성을 실측하였다. 결과 및 토의 : 그 결과 이중 격벽 유입부 구조가 흐름이 편중되어 유입되는 유동 경향이 기존 단일 격벽 유입부 구조 대비 개선된 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이중 격벽의 경우 3초, 4초 그리고 5초의 속도 분포가 전체 유동장에서 평균속도 0.03 m/s에 근접한 속도 분포를 보였으며, 단일 격벽에 대비 약 60%가 적은 0.06 m/s의 최대 속도를 나타내었다. 결론 : 수평방향 유동 흐름을 관측하였을 때 이중 격벽 유입부 구조의 경우 0.008 m/s, 단일 격벽 유입부의 구조의 경우 0.027 m/s로 약 300% 감소하는 것으로 관측되었다. Objectives : The purposes of this study are to suggest a method to distribute the flow rate into the overall vessel vertically and evenly by improving the inlet hydraulic structure of the side stream type low pressure membrane module. Methods : For those, particle image velocimetry (PIV) technique was used to measure the evenness of flow rate distribution in both of the existing full scale single baffled inlet structure and the improved membrane module inlet structure (double baffled). Results and Discussion : As a result, it was confirmed that the flow distribution of the double baffled inlet structure is improved in comparison to that of the existing single baffled inlet structure. In the case of double baffled inlet structure, the instantaneous velocity distributions of 3, 4, and 5 seconds showed a velocity distribution close to the mean velocity of 0.03 m/s in the entire flow field. Also, a maximum velocity of 0.06 m/s was about 60% less than that of the single baffled inlet structure case (0.13 m/s). Conclusion : When the horizontal flow was observed, it decreased by about 300%. Those were 0.008 m/s for the double baffled inlet structure and 0.027 m/s for the single baffled, respectively.

      • Development of CAMUS based Context-Awareness for Pervasive Home Environments

        With the advent of pervasive computing environments, the issue related to context-aware middleware is an emerging area of research. We propose proactive services on the basis of CAMUS (Context-Aware Middleware for URC Systems). First, this paper presents the system architecture of CAMUS. CAMUS is a middleware for providing context-aware applications with development and execution methodology. Accordingly, the applications developed by CAMUS respond in a timely fashion to contexts. Secondly, this paper illustrates the contents recommendation and control service agents with the property, operation, and task for the context-aware active services. Next, proposed active services are applied to the pervasive home environment for evaluation of our system. To do this, we implement the TV contents recommendation service agent, control service agent and context-aware task using CAMUS. And we evaluate the performance of Planet communication model of CAMUS.

      • 고분자유기응집제를 이용한 토양피복이 토양 수분변화에 미치는 영향 연구

        With the aim to preserve the available soil moisture against climate change, covering of soil using soil enhancer(Polyacrylamide) was studied. Different concentrations of Polyacrylamide (PAM) solution were used to cover the surface of sandy soil at a concentration of 0, 30, 50, 100 ppm, and 30g soil was placed in a 50mL container. Containers were irrigated with freshwater to attain desired soil moisture contents(7, 10, 13, 17, 20, 23, 27, 30, 33, 37%) and the amount of water applied to each container was recorded. A set of containers was maintained under variable ambient temperature(daily maximum and minimum temperatures ranging from 25 to 45°C) using the environment controlled chamber. Results indicated that soil amended with various dose of PAM utilized least amount of water (less/more water than the control soil depending upon the initial soil water contents). The concentrations of individual PAM produced somewhat differences in the amount of water.

        Isoquercitrin 함유 연꽃잎 추출물의 피부주름개선 효능 연구

        본 연구에서는 제1형 프로콜라겐 분비량 측정을 통해 피부 주름개선 효과가 있는 천연물을 검색하던 중, 연꽃잎추출물(Nelumbo nucifera leaves extract, NLE)이 가장 우수한 효능을 나타냄을 확인하였다. 고압액체크로마토그래피로 NLE를 분석한 결과 isoquercitrin이 함유되어 있었으며, isoquercitrin도 normal human dermal fibroblast (NHDF)에서 제1형 프로콜라겐의 분비를 촉진한다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 NLE와 isoquercitrin은 자유 라디컬 소거 활성을 가지고 있었으며, 특히 isoquercitrin은 인간 피부유래 세포주인 HaCaT 및 NHDF에서 활성산소종의 생성을 억제하고 총항산화능을 증가시켰다. 최종적으로 본 연구팀은 isoquercitrin의 함유량을 높이기 위해 정제한 NLE를 1.7% 함유한 크림(isoquercitrin 51 ppm 함유)을 제조하여 눈가의 주름개선 효과를 평가하였다. 30 ~ 65세의 한국인 여성 22명을 대상으로 얼굴의 한쪽 면엔 NLE 함유 크림을, 그리고 다른 한쪽 면엔 대조제품을 매일 2회씩, 8주간 연속 사용하도록 하였다. 그 결과 NLE 함유 크림을 사용하였을 때 피부자극이 발견되지 않았으며, 대조제품과 비교하여 통계적 유의성 있게 눈가의 주름을 감소시키는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구결과는 NLE 및 isoquercitrin이 우수한 콜라겐 생성 촉진 및 항산화 효능을 가지며, isoquercitrin 함유 NLE는 안전한 천연 주름개선 화장품 소재로 적용 가능하다는 것을 시사한다. In this study, we conducted research to find anti-wrinkle skin care ingredients from natural sources via the measurement of procollagen type 1 levels in the medium of normal human dermal fibroblast (NHDF) and found that a Nelumbo nucifera leave extract (NLE) was as the best effective ingredient. By the high performance liquid chromatography analysis, we confirmed isoquercitrin was one of the main compounds of NLE. Moreover, it also increased the procollagen type 1 production without cytotoxicity of NHDF. NLE and isoquercitrin exerted free radical scavenging activity. Especially, isoquercitrin exhibited strong intracellular antioxidant capacity in human skin-derived cells, HaCaT and NHDF. Finally, we performed clinical test for the inhibitory effect of NLE on skin wrinkle formation. A randomized study was conducted in 22 healthy female volunteers, aged between 30 and 65 yrs, with moderate to moderately severe facial wrinkles. Volunteer applied a 1.7% NLE cream (isoquercitrin 51 ppm) and a control cream at each facial side (left/right) twice daily for 8 weeks. The 1.7% NLE cream improved skin roughness through reducing the wrinkle of the craw’s feet significantly without any skin side effect. Our results demonstrate that NLE and isoquercitrin can increase the collagen production and exert antioxidant activity. Therefore, we expect that the new non-toxic herbal extract, isoquercitrin-containing NLE will be interesting natural ingredient of cosmetics with anti-wrinkle efficacy.

      • 사용자 시각에서 본 디자인 뇌파반응과 설문 비교 분석

        디자인이 필요한 것은 단순한 제품을 만드는 것만이 아닌 사용자의 입장에서 제품에 대한 인식과 사용자의 편의를 사전에 조사하여 제작하고자 하는 제품에 조사한 결과를 뇌파그래프로 도출하고자 한다. 이에 본 연구를 실행하기 위해 설문지 10 장으로 되어 있는 설문 작성과 컴퓨터 모니터를 통하여 제작된 설문을 참여자에게 보게 하였으며, 설문 이 끝나면 다음으로 모니터에 나오는 설문 영상을 시청하도록 하였다. 본 연구를 하면서 참여자 대다수의 의견은 설문지와 동영상의 차이점이 명확하게 있다고 하였다. 또한, 설문지 보다는 동영상이 사실감이 느껴졌다고 참여자의 대부 분 이 대답하였다.
