The purpose of this study is to analyse diverse functions and uses of Spanish article lo. Spanish is the only Romance language which has preserved an neutral and unchangeable article, which is called 'article lo'. Lo can nominalize the adjectives, which, in this way, acquire a meaning equal or similar to that of the neuters of Latin. The nominalization with lo gives abstract character to the adjectives in competition with abstract nouns, etymologically and semantically correlatives. This study is composed of four chapters, an introduction and a conclusion. The first chapter focuses on the difference between 'article lo'(lo esperado) and 'pronoun lo'(lo esperaba). And we examine a variety of uses of Spanish articles by dividing the second chapter into two sections: the comparison of the definite article with the indefinite one (el libro/un libro), and diverse characteristics of the article lo. The third part, the analysis of different functions and uses of the article lo, is divided, in its turn, into three sections: 'lo + adjective'(lo noble=la nobleza; lo bueno=las cosas buenas; en lo alto=en la parte alta), 'lo + relative clause'(toma lo que quieras), and 'lo + adjective/adverb + que'(todos saben lo simpatica que es tu hermana). The fourth chapter addresses impersonal expressions with a sense of topicalization(lo imporante es (que)=es importante (que) ), and idiomatic phrases, which are structured with lo(a lo lejos); and shows how the article lo is interpreted into other languages like English, French and Italian. This investigation on lo is believed to contribute to our understanding of its diverse functions and also to the solution of various communication problems.
Circumferential twisting during route B equal-channel angular pressing
Lee, Hak Hyeon,Kim, Wooyeol,Jung, Ki Chae,Seo, Seungjae,Lee, Jae Kun,Park, Hong Lae,Park, Kyung-Tae,Kim, Hyoung Seop Elsevier 2018 Journal of materials processing technology Vol.259 No.-

Abstract

Equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) is a representative severe plastic deformation process to fabricate bulk nanostructured materials by repetitive passes. Typically, there are four basic processing routes for the repetitive passes: route B is the most beneficial for grain refinement and homogenization of microstructure. In this work, investigation on deformation during route B in ECAP was conducted using the finite element analysis. It was found that the route B could lead to the inhomogeneous equivalent strain along the longitudinal direction of the workpiece by an unusual phenomenon called “circumferential twisting”. The circumferential twisting is primarily attributed to the deformation inhomogeneity for the cross-section induced during the 1 st pass of ECAP. This phenomenon occurs remarkably for the large-scale ECAP process because the twisting angle per unit length is almost constant. In addition, the higher the strain hardening exponent of the material, the greater the sample twisting during ECAP by the corner gap effect.

Deep End-to-end Imitation Learning for Missile Guidance With Infrared Images
Seungjae Lee,Jongho Shin,Hyeong-Geun Kim,Daesol Cho,H. Jin Kim 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2023 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.21 No.10
In this paper, we propose an end-to-end missile guidance algorithm that uses raw infrared image pixels by imitating a conventional guidance law. To bypass the need to extract the state from raw image data for an expert policy, our method leverages privileged data in training episodes. We demonstrate that this approach not only prevents performance degradation due to estimation error but also successfully imitates a conventional guidance law without expensive sensors. Our method shows successful imitation results even in noisy and agile environments through an image augmentation strategy. We also analyze the possibility of predicting the failure of the guidance through ensemble networks and show that the variance between ensemble networks can help predict the risk of the neural-network guidance system.
Global Market Analysis for Welding Power Source and Welding Robot (I)
Seungjae Lee,Jason Cheon,Cheolhee Kim 대한용접·접합학회 2020 대한용접·접합학회지 Vol.38 No.3
Welding power source and welding robot are the most important components of welding automation systems. In this paper, we summarized the sales and market revenues of welding power source and welding robot using the market analysis reports from 2007 to 2017. The analysis was conducted for arc welding and resistance welding, respectively. The power source market of 2017 returned to that of 2007, and the welding robot market of 2017 approximately doubled that of 2007. These market trends are found to be closely related to the major application industries such as the heavy industry and the automotive industry.
On the Reconstruction of the Fragmented Documents Excavated from Seokga Pagoda 釋迦塔
SeungJae Lee 훈민정음학회 2010 Scripta Vol.0 No.2
Restoration and reconstruction of ancient manuscripts requires precision and authenticity in its methods and processes. The task faces even more complications when the manuscript is damaged and fragmented, as is the case with the documents found in Seokga 釋迦 (Śākyamuni) Pagoda in the Bulguk Temple 佛國寺 located in Gyeongju 慶州 , South Korea. A lump of paper documents was excavated from Seokga Pagoda in 1966. Because the paper documents were folded many times in order to reduce its size, it had become a lump of matted, sticky paper that was partly destroyed after close to a thousand years of deterioration. Detaching the lump of paper into separate strips had been completed by 1997, and the process of reconstruction for decipherment was launched in May 2007 and finished in February 2009. The intent of this article is to illustrate the reconstruction process on the fragmented paper documents detached from the lump. It primarily aims to demonstrate that the process of reconstruction was scientific and to acknowledge the significance of the reconstruction experience. The discussion is divided into two parts. The article first explains how the fragmented pieces of paper detached from the lump were correctly assembled, then describes how the size of the gaps between the paper strips were measured. The assembly order is determined by analysis of the paper folds, and the spacing is verified by the following indicators: the length of a single sheet of paper, traces from the bal 1 on the paper, and the stains of contamination left by use of adhesives. Overall, it is concluded that scientific and systematic procedures are imperative in reconstructing ancient manuscripts, and that this unique experience has proved to be a successful case.

Holographic-optical-element (HOE)-based integral imaging display can be applied to augmented reality. However, a narrow viewing angle is a bottleneck for commercialization. Here, we propose a method to enhance the viewing angle of the integral imaging display using Bragg mismatched reconstruction of HOEs. The viewing angle of the integral imaging display can be enlarged with two probe waves, which form two different viewing zones. The effect of Bragg mismatched reconstruction is analyzed with simulation and experiment. In order to show feasibility of the proposed method, a display experiment is demonstrated.
