Oh,Hyunjin(오현진) 대한종양간호학회 2011 Asian Oncology Nursing Vol.11 No.3
Purpose: This literature review was conducted to provide a summary of the findings from research on knowledge and attitudes about human papilloma virus (HPV) and HPV vaccination, and studies of its actual uptake among women in Asian countries. Methods: The author searched the Pubmed, CINAHL, and KISS electronic databases to identify peer-reviewed articles published between 2006 and 2011. Results: Seventeen peer-reviewed studies met the inclusion criteria (13 quantitative, 4 qualitative). Findings from seven Asian countries that measured female adult's knowledge of HPV related issues and attitudes toward HPV vaccination were reviewed. Low level of knowledge about HPV and its related conditions, willingness to be vaccinated, and low uptake of vaccines were identified across the studies. Cultural barriers and social stigmatization about HPV vaccination were also discussed. Conclusion: Findings from this review indicate that adult women in Asian countries are in urgent need of improving HPV related knowledge and its actual vaccination. Policy makers, health care providers, and public health educators should take into account the cultural barriers and attitudes toward HPV vaccination in the process of developing and implementing educational programs and interventions for adult women in Asian countries.
Fluorescent Grating Patterns of Photopolymer Film Containing Ethylene Glycol Phenyl Ether Acrylate
Oh, Hyunjin,Kim, Jeonghun,Rameshbabu, Krishnamurthy,Do, Jaekwon,Kim, Eunkyoung American Scientific Publishers 2008 Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Vol.8 No.9

Photopolymer films containing photoreactive monomers in the presence of fluorescent polyanthracene were investigated for fluorescent grating pattern formation using a 3D holographic method. A monofunctional acrylate, ethylene glycol phenyl ether acrylate (PA), was used as the core monomer for the formation of the polymerization induced grating pattern. Photopolymer films were prepared from a mixture of PA and polyanthracene with a binder polymer and a photo radical initiator. The film's thickness was adjusted by the solution's composition to optimize grating pattern efficiency (>90%). The diffraction efficiency was increased in the presence of polyanthracene. Furthermore, the fluorescence intensity was more enhanced after grating formation. A vivid fluorescent gap electrode pattern with fine gratings was patterned, providing a new method for patterning organic thin films with distinct read-out processes.

The Role of CEO Ability in Determining R&D Investment Behavior among High Technology Firms in Korea
Vol.28 No.1
This study examines whether and how R&D management in high technology firms differs from that in non-high technology firms in Korea. More importantly, given that CEOs are responsible for R&D investment decision-making, we investigate whether more competent CEOs at high technology firms engage in different R&D management than those less competent. Using the cost stickiness model developed by Anderson et al. (2003), we find that high technology firms exhibit stickier behavior with respect to R&D costs compared to non-high technology firms, indicating that high technology firms are less likely to reduce R&D investment in declining-sales periods. We also find that R&D cost stickiness in high technology firms appears only when the firms are managed by more competent CEOs. This indicates that CEO ability is one of the most important factors explaining R&D management decisions in high technology firms.
Managerial Ability and Financial Outcomes of R&D Spending at Korean High-Technology Firms
Vol.28 No.3
This paper examines the effect of managerial ability on the relationship between R&D spending and financial performance at high-technology firms. Since R&D activities are more critical for innovation at high-technology firms than at low-technology firms, high-ability managers at technology firms are expected to manage R&D spending effectively in order to improve firms’ financial performance. The analysis of Korean firms’ operating income and valuation over the past decade shows that managerial ability strengthens the association between R&D spending and financial performance at high-technology firms but not at low-technology firms. These findings clarify the interplay between managerial qualities and firms’ innovation processes at driving firms’ performance.
Vol.37 No.1
This article examines the political impact of government response to COVID-19 in South Korea. We attempt to identify the key determinants in shaping political trust in the time of COVID-19 by centering on the interaction between government as the object and citizen as the subject in the formation of political trust. The main findings can be summarized as follows. Firstly, the positive assessments of government handling of COVID-19 are likely to enhance public confidence in government and perceived quality of democratic system. Secondly, individual-level beliefs on democratic principles have a pronounced negative effect on political trust. as well. Lastly, our analysis confirms the interaction effect between performance and values. Taken together, this study indicates that even in the time of national public health crisis, political trust is significantly influenced by a combination of perceived government responses and individual values.
