장벽경색이 선행한 Henoch-Schonlein 자반증 1례

Henoch-Schonlein 자반증은 피부, 위장관, 관절, 신장 등을 주로 침범하며 소혈관염을 기본 병리 소견으로하는 전신성 혈관 장애 질환이다. 위장관계 증상으로는 복통, 오심 및 구토, 잠혈, 토혈, 흑색변 등이 있을 수 있고, 이러한 증상은 합병증 없이 회복되는 것이 보통이나 드물게는 장중첩증, 장벽경색 및 괴사, 장천공 등의 심한 합병증을 동반할 수도 있다. 이러한 위장관계 증상들은 특징적인 피부 소견에 선행하여 나타날 수도 있으며, 이때는 급성복증에 대한 감별진단이 중요하다. 저자들은 장벽경색이 선행하여 감별진단에 어려움을 겪고 시험적개복술을 시행한 이후에 특징적인 피부 자반이 발현되어 Henoch-Schonlein 자반증으로 진단할 수 있었던 증례를 경험하였기에 이를 보고하고자 한다. 본 증례는 입원 1일전부터 시작된 복통을 주소로 입원한 5세 남아가 배꼽 주위에 심한 경련성 복통을 지속적으로 호소하였고 이학적 소견상 배꼽주위의 압통, 장음의 감소, 흑색변 등이 있었으며 소장조영술상 공장 부위에 미만성의 불규칙한 점막비후 소견을 보여 제 8병일에 시험적개복술을 시행한 결과 근위 공장에 국한된 장괴사의 소견이 발견되어 절제 및 문합술을 실시 하였다. 병리학적 검사에서는 장벽경색의 소견을 보였다. 수술후에 복통은 완화되었으나 경미하게 지속되었고, 제 13병일경에 급성 부고환염이 병발되었다가 회복되었고 제 15병일경에는 하지에서부터 발현된 자반이 3일간 지속되었다. 결구 Henoch-Schonlein 자반증과 이의 합병증으로 발생한 근위 공장의 장벽경색으로 진단하였다. Colicky abdominal pain as symptom of Henoch-Schonlein purpura occurs in up to 70% of patients, and results from submucosal edema and hemorrhage. Abdominal pain and other GI symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, melena and hematemesis resolve mostly without any complications. But rarely life-threatening GI complications such as intussusception, intestinal mural infarction and necrosis, and massive hemorrhage may develope. In 14% of patients, abdominal pain may precede other symptoms, and creats diagnostic difficulties. We reports a case of the Henoch-Schonlein purpura presented with colicky abdominal pain which resulted from intestinal mural infarction and preceded characteristic purpuric skin lesion by several weeks. This 5 year old male patient complained of colicky abdominal pain, nausea and melena. Exploratory laparatomy was done and revealed intestinal mural infarction in proximal jejunum. One week later operation, purpuric skin lesion develiped in both leg and feet, and then, Henoch-Schonlein purpura was diagnosed.

Microalgae hold promise as producers of sustainable biomass for the production of biofuels and other biomaterials. However, the selection of strains with efficient and robust production of desirable resources remains challenging. In this study, we isolated a green microalga from Korea and analyzed its morphological, molecular, and biochemical characteristics. Microscopic and phylogenetic analyses demonstrated that the isolate could be classified into the genus Chlamydomonas, and we designated the isolate Chlamydomonas s p. K IOST -1. Compositions of protein, lipid, and carbohydrate in the microalgal cells were estimated to be 58.8 ± 0.2%, 22.7 ± 1.2%, and 18.5 ± 1.0%, respectively. Similar to other microalgae belonging to Chlorophyceae, the dominant amino acid and monosaccharide in Chlamydomonas sp. KIOST-1 were glutamic acid and glucose. On the other hand, the proportions of saturated fatty acids, monounsaturated fatty acids, and polyunsaturated fatty acids clearly differed from other species in the genus Chlamydomonas, and monounsaturated fatty acids accounted for a large portion (41.3%) of the total fatty acids in the isolate. Based on these results, Chlamydomonas sp. KIOST-1 has advantageous characteristics for biomass production.
Residual analysis of veterinary drugs in bovine and equine muscle by targeted sampling plan in 2022

The Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency conducts a targeted sampling plan and analysis for veterinary drugs within the country every year. Target compounds included tetrachlorvinphos as an organophosphate, diminazene as an anti-infective medication, ketoprofen as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, triclabendazole and clorsulon as flukicides in 2022. These compounds were not included in National Residues Program (NRP), despite their high sales ranking. A total of 94 bovine muscle samples and 20 equine muscle samples were collected from various locations across the country. The analysis of target compounds in muscle was performed using LC-MS/MS coupled with Food code 8.3.1 revised in 2022. A 2 g sample of muscle tissue was extracted using a water: acetonitrile (1:4, v/v) solution, then cleaned up with C18 and hexane saturated with acetonitrile. Compounds were separated with C18 column and mobile phases consisted of 0.1% formic acid in water (A) and 0.1% formic acid in acetonitrile (B). All analytes exhibited good linearity with correlation coefficients (R2) higher than 0.992. The limit of quantification (LOQ) of these compounds ranged from 0.21 to 2.79 μg/kg except for diminazene (3.85~6.86 μg/kg). The average recoveries of these analytes were 89.45~129.13% in muscle at spiked level of 10 or 20 μg/kg. Relative standard deviations (%) (intra-day and inter-day) were lower than 20% for all target compounds, except for diminazene and triclabendazole, whose intra-day RSD % was slightly higher than 20% in equine muscle. Testing confirmed that all 94 bovine and 20 equine muscle samples from 9 provinces were free from residues of veterinary drugs. Monitoring of compounds not included in the NRP should continue to ensure consumer health and food safety.

Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumor Presenting with Arthritis and Panniculitis

Pancreatic neoplasm is complicated and can be preceded by extra-pancreatic manifestations, such as cutaneous and musculoskeletal symptoms. Awareness of these associations is important for timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment. We report a case of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (NET) presenting with arthritis and panniculitis. The patient had a two month history of right knee pain and subcutaneous nodules in both legs. Synovial fluid analysis from the right knee joint revealed a mildly increased white blood cell count without crystallization. A skin biopsy of a subcutaneous nodule revealed lobular panniculitis. The initial treatment with empirical antibiotics did not alleviate the symptoms; however, the right knee arthritis and skin nodules improved with steroid treatment. On the eighth day of hospitalization, the patient complained of abdominal discomfort. Abdominopelvic computed tomography scanning revealed a 14-cm sized pancreatic mass with peritoneal metastasis. Percutaneous needle biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of pancreatic NET. (J Rheum Dis 2017;24:313-317)

Purpose: Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans is associated with localized aggressive periodontitis. It produces cytolethal distending toxin (CDT), which induces cell cycle arrest in the G2/M phase. The CDT holotoxin is composed of CdtA, CdtB, and CdtC. CdtB has structural homology to human DNase I and is an active component of the CDT complex acting as a DNase. In particular, the pattern homology seen in the CdtB subunit has been associated with specific DNase I residues involved in enzyme catalysis, DNA binding, and metal ion binding. So, to study the functions and regulation of recombinant CdtB, we made up a quantity of functional recombinant CdtB and tested it in relation to the metal ion effect. Materials and Methods: We constructed the pET28a-cdtB plasmid from A. actinomycetemcomitans Y4 by genomic DNA PCR and expressed it in the BL21 (DE3) Escherichia coli system. We obtained the functional recombinant CdtB by the refolding system using the dialysis method and then analyzed the DNase activity and investigated the metal ion effect from plasmid digestion. Results: The recombinant CdtB subunit was expressed as the inclusion bodies. We were able to obtain functional recombinant CdtB subunit using refolding system. We confirmed that our refolded recombinant CdtB had DNase activity and was influenced by the metal ions $Mg^{2+}$ and $Ca^{2+}$. Conclusion: We suggest that the factors influencing recombinant CdtB may contribute to CDT associated diseases, such as periodontitis, endocarditic, meningitis, and osteomyelitis.

<P>We describe a highly efficient method for fabricating a variety of complex 3D nano-patterns from a single master pattern using secondary sputtering lithography, which is a 10 nm scale patterning method that we have developed. A rapid etching rate in the bottom part of the PS pillar during the RIE process can produce various nanostructure shapes and the PS residual layer thickness can influence various feature dimensions, due to the controlled RIE time leading to different PS layer thicknesses. This technique provides a highly effective method for producing various complex 3D patterns from a single master pattern. Thus, this method can serve as a new procedure for the cost-effective mass production of complex nanoscale patterns with high resolution.</P>

네트워크 구조를 갖는 시설물 관리 시스템에서는 동종의 시설물 정보 및 서로 인접한 이종의 시설물 정보를 이용하여 다양한 공간분석을 수행하여야 하며, 특히 각종 안전사고 예방 및 처리 등을 위한 빠른 공간분석 수행을 요구한다. 이러한 공간분석을 효율적으로 수행하기 위하여 위상정보의 이용이 필수적이며, 대부분의 지리 정보 시스템에서는 동적 연산에 의하여 위상 정보를 추출한다. 이 방법은 복잡한 위상정보 생성연산을 수행함으로써 공간분석 시간이 많이 소요되며, 같은 의미를 갖는 위상정보 획득을 위하여 동일한 연산을 반복 수행하여야 하는 문제점이 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 효율적인 위상정보 이용을 위한 전처리 위상정보 추출방법을 제안하며, 추출된 위상정보를 공간데이터베이스에 저장하기 위한 위상정보 자료구조를 설계한다. 또한 공간 데이타베이스의 무결성을 유지하기 위하여 전처리 위상정보 추출방법을 사용한 위상정보 생성 및 공간자료 변경에 따른 위상정보 갱신을 수행하는 위상처리시스템을 설계한다.

A unicellular red microalga was isolated from environmental freshwater in Korea, and its morphological, molecular, and biochemical properties were characterized. Morphological analysis revealed that the isolate was a unicellular biflagellated green microalga that formed a non-motile, thick-walled palmelloid or red aplanospore. To determine the taxonomical position of the isolate, its 18S rRNA and rbcL genes were sequenced and phylogenetic analysis was performed. We found that the isolate was clustered together with other related Haematococcus strains showing differences in the rbcL gene. Therefore, the isolated microalga was classified into the genus Haematococcus, and finally designated Haematococcus sp. KORDI03. The microalga could be cultivated in various culture media under a broad range of pH and temperature conditions. Compositions of the microalgal cellular components were analyzed, and its protein, carbohydrate, and lipid compositions were estimated to be 21.1 ± 0.2%, 48.8 ± 1.8%, and 22.2 ± 0.9%, respectively. In addition, D-glucose and D-mannose were the dominant monosaccharides in the isolate, and its amino acids were composed mainly of aspartic acid, glutamic acid, alanine, and leucine. Moreover, several polyunsaturated fatty acids accounted for about 80% of the total fatty acids in Haematococcus sp. KORDI03, and the astaxanthin content in the red aplanospores was estimated to be 1.8% of the dry cell weight. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of an Haematococcus sp. isolated from Korea, which may be used for bioresource production in the microalgal industry.
