Urological cancers such as kidney, bladder, prostate, and testicularcancers are the most common types of cancers worldwidewith high mortality and morbidity. To date, traditional cell linesand animal models have been broadly used to study pre-clinicalapplications and underlying molecular mechanisms of urologicalcancers. However, they cannot reflect biological phenotypesof real tissues and clinical diversities of urological cancersin vitro system. In vitro models cannot be utilized to reflect thetumor microenvironment or heterogeneity. Cancer organoids inthree-dimensional culture have emerged as a promising platformfor simulating tumor microenvironment and revealingheterogeneity. In this review, we summarize recent advancesin prostate and kidney cancer organoids regarding culture conditions,advantages, and applications of these cancer organoids.
고속 BLDC 전동기 센서리스 구동에서 역기전력 신호의 노이즈와 샘플링 주기가 미치는 영향

The purpose of this paper is to analyze effects of back-EMF(Electro Magnetic Force) signal noise and sampling period for Brushless DC(BLDC) motor sensorless drives at high speed. A typical zero crossing detection method detects zero crossing point using change of back-EMF polarity. Using this method, back-EMF signal noise and sampling period are the cause of performance degradation at high speed, because the number of back-EMF samples to detect zero crossing is small. Therefore the effects are analyzed by simulation on high performance BLDC motor drives at high speed.
BLDC 고속 센서리스 구동의 ZCP 추정 오차 저감을 위한 Programmable Low Pass Filter 설계

This paper presents a design method of programmable low pass filter(PLPF) which reduce an estimation error of a zero crossing point(ZCP) for a high speed brushless DC(BLDC) motor drive. BLDC motor sensorless drive is possible by estimation of ZCP. The ZCP estimated by detecting a change of back-EMF polarity has the estimation error because noises exist on the measured back-EMF. Therefore a calculated commutation timing using the ZCP is inaccurate. And the inexact commutation timing leads to ripples of 3-phase current and degradation of drive performance. This paper proposes the design method of the PLPF to overcome these problems. First, a speed calculated a inaccurate period of the ZCP is analyzed in the frequency domain. Then, the PLPF that has varying cut-off frequency according to change of the speed is designed on the frequency analysis result. The proposed method is verified by the experiment.
Functionalized monolayers on mesoporous silica and on titania nanoparticles for mercuric sensing

<P>Heterogeneous “naked-eye” colorimetric and spectrophotometric cation sensors were prepared by immobilization of an azobenzene-coupled receptor onto mesoporous silica (<B>AR-SiO<SUB>2</SUB></B>) or titania nanoparticles (<B>AR-TiO<SUB>2</SUB></B>) <I>via</I> sol–gel or hydrolysis reactions. The optical sensing ability of <B>AR-SiO<SUB>2</SUB></B> was studied by addition of metal ions such as K<SUP>+</SUP>, Ca<SUP>2+</SUP>, Sr<SUP>2+</SUP>, Co<SUP>2+</SUP>, Cd<SUP>2+</SUP>, Pb<SUP>2+</SUP>, Zn<SUP>2+</SUP>, Fe<SUP>3+</SUP>, Cu<SUP>2+</SUP> and Hg<SUP>2+</SUP> ions (all as chlorides) in aqueous solution. Upon the addition of Hg<SUP>2+</SUP> ion in suspension, the <B>AR-SiO<SUB>2</SUB></B> resulted in a color change from yellow to deep red. No significant color changes were observed in the parallel experiments with K<SUP>+</SUP>, Ca<SUP>2+</SUP>, Sr<SUP>2+</SUP>, Co<SUP>2+</SUP>, Cd<SUP>2+</SUP>, Pb<SUP>2+</SUP>, Zn<SUP>2+</SUP>, Fe<SUP>3+</SUP> or Cu<SUP>2+</SUP> ion. These findings confirm that the <B>AR-SiO<SUB>2</SUB></B> can be useful as chemosensors for selective detection of Hg<SUP>2+</SUP> ion over a range of metal ions in aqueous solution. Also, the color change of <B>AR-SiO<SUB>2</SUB></B> was independent of the presence of anions NO<SUB>3</SUB><SUP>−</SUP>, ClO<SUB>4</SUB><SUP>−</SUP>, Br<SUP>−</SUP> and I<SUP>−</SUP>. We also prepared a portable chemosensor kit by coating a 4 μm thick film of <B>AR-TiO<SUB>2</SUB></B> onto a glass substrate. We found that this <B>AR-TiO<SUB>2</SUB></B> film detects Hg<SUP>2+</SUP> ion at pH 7.4 with a sensitivity of 28 nM. Finally, we tested the effect of pH on <B>AR-TiO<SUB>2</SUB></B> with Hg<SUP>2+</SUP> ion between pH 1.0 to 11.0. The absorbance and color changes of <B>AR-TiO<SUB>2</SUB></B> were almost constant between pH 4 and 11. The results imply that the <B>AR-TiO<SUB>2</SUB></B> film is applicable as a portable colorimetric sensor for the detection of Hg<SUP>2+</SUP> ion in the environmental field.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>The optical sensing abilities of an acyclic receptor immobilized mesoporous silica (<B>AR-SiO<SUB>2</SUB></B>) and titania nanoparticle (<B>AR-TiO<SUB>2</SUB></B>) was investigated and the <B>AR-SiO<SUB>2</SUB></B> and <B>AR-TiO<SUB>2</SUB></B> recognized and separated Hg<SUP>2+</SUP> with a high degree of selectivity among heavy metal ions in aqueous solution. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=b915975d'> </P>
Concerns about Teenage Obesity and Diet Behaviors: Middle and High School Students in Ulsan

This study is to investigate the concerns about obesity and diet behaviors among 565 middle and high school students in Ulsan. The results indicated that high school students rather than middle school students and girls rather than boys had higher concerns about obesity and diet behaviors. For the socio-economic variables, being female, a high school student, and a group with the least monthly allowance was higher concern about obesity and diet; and household income, educational level and occupation of the fathers also had significant impacts on the student concerns about obesity and diet behaviors. The variables of height, weight, PIBW (Percentage of Ideal Body Weight), and BMI (Body Mass Index) had significant impacts on the concerns about obesity and diet behaviors. Especially, students with normal weight had the highest concerns about obesity and diet, while obese students had the lowest concerns. (J Community Nutrition 7(4): $184\∼192$, 2005)
