Laccases are multicopper oxidases with important industrial value. In the study, a novel laccase gene (mco) in a Staphylococcus haemolyticus isolate is identified and heterologously expressed in Escherichia coli. Mco shares less than 40% of amino acid sequence identities with the other characterized laccases, exhibiting the maximal activity at pH 4.0 and 60oC with 2,2'-azino-bis (3- ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) diammonium salt (ABTS) as a substrate. Additionally, the Mco is tolerant to a wide range of pH, heavy metal ions and many organic solvents, and it has a high decolorization capability toward textile dyes in the absence of redox mediators. The characteristics of the Mco make this laccase potentially useful for industrial applications such as textile finishing. Based on BLASTN results, mco is found to be widely distributed in both the bacterial genome and bacterial plasmids. Its potential role in oxidative defense ability of staphylococci may contribute to the bacterial colonization and survival.
Modelling and Control of Nine-Switch Converter-Based DFIG Wind Power System

In this paper, nine-switch converter (NSC) is used to replace the Back-to-Back converter of DFIG wind power system. In order to simplify the control process and improve the performance, the switching function model of nine-switch converter under ABC coordinate system is established, and the mapping relationship between the parameters of NSC’s loads and those of DFIG wind energy conversion system is given. Meanwhile, a Resonant-proportional-integral (Resonant-PI) control strategy for NSC-based DFIG wind energy conversion system is proposed, and the PI controller is used for static control under steady state and the resonant controller for suppressing harmonic content in this method. The proposed method performs better than PI control in harmonic content and dynamic response. The simulations and experimental results verify the validity and reliability of the proposed mathematical model and control algorithm.
Sketch-based 3D modeling by aligning outlines of an image

In this paper we present an efficient technique for sketch-based 3D modeling using automatically extracted image features. Creating a 3D model often requires a drawing of irregular shapes composed of curved lines as a starting point but it is difficult to hand-draw such lines without introducing awkward bumps and edges along the lines. We propose an automatic alignment of a user's hand-drawn sketch lines to the contour lines of an image, facilitating a considerable level of ease with which the user can carelessly continue sketching while the system intelligently snaps the sketch lines to a background image contour, no longer requiring the strenuous effort and stress of trying to make a perfect line during the modeling task. This interactive technique seamlessly combines the efficiency and perception of the human user with the accuracy of computational power, applied to the domain of 3D modeling where the utmost precision of on-screen drawing has been one of the hurdles of the task hitherto considered a job requiring a highly skilled and careful manipulation by the user. We provide several examples to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the method with which complex shapes were achieved easily and quickly in the interactive outline drawing task.

In order to better perform thermal hydraulic calculation and analysis of supercritical water reactor, based on the experimental data of supercritical water, the model training and predictive analysis of the heat transfer coefficient of supercritical water were carried out by using the support vector machine (SVM) algorithm. The changes in the prediction accuracy of the supercritical water heat transfer coefficient are analyzed by the changes of the regularization penalty parameter C, the slack variable epsilon and the Gaussian kernel function parameter gamma. The predicted value of the SVM model obtained after parameter optimization and the actual experimental test data are analyzed for data verification. The research results show that: the normalization of the data has a great influence on the prediction results. The slack variable has a relatively small influence on the accuracy change range of the predicted heat transfer coefficient. The change of gamma has the greatest impact on the accuracy of the heat transfer coefficient. Compared with the calculation results of traditional empirical formula methods, the trained algorithm model using SVM has smaller average error and standard deviations. Using the SVM trained algorithm model, the heat transfer coefficient of supercritical water can be effectively predicted and analyzed.

This paper primarily determined the suitable technique for the preparation of WS 2 /C coating by the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) with a keen focus on the criteria of coating property, deposition process, resource and equipment. Further, some cutting performances of six cutting tools with different treatments, including cutting forces, cutting temperatures, wear mechanisms, tool life, etc. were investigated in dry cutting AISI1045 steel. The optimal lubricating condition for dry cutting process was obtained when using the cutting tools configured with the combination of WS 2 /C coating and shark-skin-inspired structures. Finally, the sustainability assessment was carried out by the calculation of the product sustainability index (PSI). The highest PSI of 78.6% was obtained in case of the dry cutting experiment using WMT-2-N tools, which provided a suggested favorable alternative considering both product and manufacturing process. Thus, dry cutting AISI1045 steel using WMT-2-N tools seems to be an environmentally-friendly machining process and would be helpful to enhance sustainability.
Facial Action Unit Detection with Multilayer Fused Multi-Task and Multi-Label Deep Learning Network

Facial action units (AUs) have recently drawn increased attention because they can be used to recognize facial expressions. A variety of methods have been designed for frontal-view AU detection, but few have been able to handle multi-view face images. In this paper we propose a method for multi-view facial AU detection using a fused multilayer, multi-task, and multi-label deep learning network. The network can complete two tasks: AU detection and facial view detection. AU detection is a multi-label problem and facial view detection is a single-label problem. A residual network and multilayer fusion are applied to obtain more representative features. Our method is effective and performs well. The F1 score on FERA 2017 is 13.1% higher than the baseline. The facial view recognition accuracy is 0.991. This shows that our multi-task, multi-label model could achieve good performance on the two tasks.

Silkworm (Bombyx mori) is a widely used lepidopteran model insect. Pyriproxyfen is an insect growth regulator (IGR) that can be used to control pests such as lepidoptera and diptera, and there is no research about its in fluence on the intestinal bacterial diversity and immune signal pathway of non-target lepidopteran insect larvae. In this study, we treated fifth-instar silkworms with trace pyriproxyfen (10 − 4 mg/L). The results showed that the abundance and diversity of silkworm larvae intestinal flora at the level of phylum, class, order, family and genus were all changed. The function prediction result showed that the functional changes mainly focused on tran scription, amino acid transport and metabolism, carbohydrate transport and metabolism, signal transduction mechanisms, energy production and conversion et al. after exposure to trace pyriproxyfen. Furthermore, qRTPCR results showed that trace pyriproxyfen exposure activated the transcriptions of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) genes regulated by Toll and IMD pathways. This research can lay the foundation for the study on the resistance of lepidopteran insects to pyriproxyfen and other juvenile hormone pesticides.
Enhancement of CO2 desorption using ultrasound and vacuum in water scrubbing biogas upgrading system

Ultrasound and vacuum were respectively employed to enhance CO2 desorption in a water scrubbing biogas upgrading system. Results showed that incomplete CO2 desorption could cause a high CO2 content in the water and seriously affect the purity of the product gas. Vacuum had a strong enhancement effect on CO2 desorption. When a vacuum of 0.04MPa was used to enhance CO2 desorption, the amount of the stripping air could be reduced to 1/16- th of that without enhancement, indicating that vacuum could greatly enhance CO2 desorption and significantly decrease the amount of the stripping air, which was expected to reduce a large amount of energy consumption. In contrast, the enhancement effect of ultrasound was not so obvious for CO2 desorption in the desorption column with air stripping, since the solution could be well desorbed by gas stripping, though ultrasound could strongly affect the static CO2 desorption.
