( Ankush Sharma ),( Roo Zbeh Houshyar ),( Priya Bhosale ),( Joon Il Choi ),( Ra Jesh Gulati ),( Chandana Lall ) 대한간학회 2014 Clinical and Molecular Hepatology(대한간학회지) Vol.20 No.3
Treating patients undergoing chemotherapy who display findings of liver toxicity, requires a solid understanding of these medications. It is important for any clinician to have an index of suspicion for liver toxicity and be able to recognize it, even on imaging. Cancer chemotherapy has evolved, and newer medications that target cell biology have a different pattern of liver toxicity and may differ from the more traditional cytotoxic agents. There are several hepatic conditions that can result and keen clinical as well as radiographic recognition are paramount. Conditions such as sinusoidal obstructive syndrome, steatosis, and pseudocirrhosis are more commonly associated with chemotherapy. These conditions can display clinical signs of acute hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and even liver failure. It is important to anticipate and recognize these adverse reactions and thus appropriate clinical action can be taken. Often times, patients with these liver manifestations can be managed with supportive therapies, and liver toxicity may resolve after discontinuation of chemotherapy. In the present research work, the needle-punched nonwoven jute epoxy composites are fabricated by varying theweight percentages of sponge iron slag in vacuum assisted resin transfer molding technique. This study examines thephysical, mechanical and thermomechanical properties (i.e., density, water absorption, tensile, flexural, inter-laminar shearstrength, compression, impact, fracture toughness and dynamic mechanical analysis) of unfilled and 8 wt.%, 16 wt.% and24 wt.% of sponge iron slag filled composites under controlled operating conditions. Moreover, it is shown that all themechanical properties improved with the increased in sponge iron slag content except for tensile strength which increasedonly upto 16 wt.%. This study also attempted for the analysis of thermal conductivity of the unfilled and particulate filledcomposites in experimentally by hot disc method. This work also presents both existing empirical models and numericalsimulation analysis to evaluate the thermal conductivity of the developed composites. The numerical simulation values of thethermal conductivity demonstrated good agreement with the experimental values. At the end, Cole-Cole plot is drawnbetween loss modulus and storage modulus to understand the nature of the proposed composites.

The present study investigates the effect of fabrication techniques on the mechanical and thermo-mechanicalbehavior of bi-directional woven glass fiber epoxy composite for wind turbine blade application. The composites arefabricated by Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding (VARTM) and hand lay-up molding (HLM) techniques to identifythe optimal performance output. The physical, mechanical and thermo-mechanical properties of the composites are evaluatedfor the samples fabricated by both the tecniques. It is observed that tensile strength, inter-laminar shear strength (ILSS) andflexural strength of the composites fabricated by VARTM technique are 405.62 MPa, 23.35 MPa and 239.3878 MParespectively whereas composites fabricated by HLM technique shows slightly lower tensile strength (351.28 MPa), ILSS(16.75 MPa) and flexural strength (221.92 MPa). The intra-laminar mode-I fracture toughness test is also performed usingcompact tension specimen. The critical stress intensity factor (KIC) and critical strain energy release rate (GIC) are observed tobe higher for VARTM composites. At the end, the dynamic mechanical analysis is performed to understand the materialbehavior and structural characteristics of these composites in high-temperature environment. This investigation purelygoverns the small-scale wind turbine blade structure in two different extreme climates from ambient to sustainabletemperature.

Pure and doped (Cr and Ge) ZnGa2O4 compounds are prepared using solid-state reaction method. Single-phase nature of pure and doped ZnGa2O4 compounds is investigated using X-ray difraction (XRD). XRD results indicate lower theta angle shifting, decrease in particle size and tensile strain in the doped samples. A granular morphology of amalgamated particles is seen in the SEM images. EDS results convey, practically, the same concentrations (atm%) of doped elements as used during the preparation. X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) results helped to determine the valence state of elements. O K-edge XANES shows a signifcant orbital hybridization of O 2p shells with the d shells of doped atoms (i.e., Cr and Ge). Broad PL bands, of nearly the white-light emission, are observed in all of the samples. Modifcation in the PL intensity and emitted wavelengths, upon doping of Cr3+ and Ge3+ ions, are discussed through the energy transfer mechanisms and defects in the compounds.

We report a rare case of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia with thrombosis (HITT) following treatment for May–Thurner syndrome complicated by deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which resulted in venous stent thrombosis. A 27-year-old male with acute left lower-limb DVT successfully underwent thrombolysis and stenting for May–Thurner syndrome. However, the patient developed recurrent thrombosis and thrombocytopenia 3 days post-procedure. HITT was confirmed by a positive antiplatelet factor 4-heparin antibody test. After discontinuing heparin, the patient was successfully treated with fondaparinux, followed by repeat thrombectomy and thrombolysis, and then transitioned to warfarin. This is the second reported case of venous stent thrombosis due to HITT in May–Thurner syndrome. This case underscores the importance of early recognition and prompt management of HITT using alternative anticoagulants like fondaparinux to prevent complications such as venous limb gangrene. Further randomized controlled trials are required to evaluate the safety and efficacy of fondaparinux in HITT.

We investigated the influence of structural disorders on the magnetic and magnetocaloric (MC) properties upon A-site rare-earth substitution in A1.4Sr1.6Mn2O7 (A = La, Pr, Nd) Ruddlesden-Popper (R–P) compounds. The samples were produced through the solid-state method, and the structural analysis indicated formation of R–P phase with the Jahn-Teller distortion parameter varying from highest in La1.4Sr1.6Mn2O7 (LSMO) to Nd1.4Sr1.6Mn2O7 (NSMO) and followed by Pr1.4Sr1.6Mn2O7 (PSMO). Hence, the magnetization value was increased in LSMO sample implying an enhanced interbilayer and interlayer spin correlations. It resulted in a high value of MC parameters like temperature average entropy change (TEC) and relative cooling power (RCP) of 4.21 J/kgK and 87 J/kg for LSMO, while lowest value of 0.53 J/kgK and 27 J/kg for PSMO respectively, at 2.5 T field. The room temperature MC response in PSMO, whereas a large TEC in LSMO and NSMO compounds advocate their candidacy in broad range of refrigeration applications.

This work clearly demonstrates the effective utilization of industrial waste metal fiber to replace glass fiber loadingfor the development of hybrid glass/metal fiber reinforced polymer composites for marine applications. The presentcomposite is fabricated by vacuum assisted resin transfer modelling technique under controlled conditions by varying bothglass fiber and metal fiber in a desired percentage weight ratio. The fabricated hybrid composites are characterized byphysical (density and void content), mechanical (tensile strength, flexural strength, inter-laminar shear strength and impactstrength), thermomechanical analysis (storage modulus, loss modulus and damping factor), water absorption, thermalconductivity and thermo-gravimetric analysis respectively. The second part of this study mainly covers the simulationanalysis of both mechanical properties and the thermal conductivity of the hybrid polymer composites. This analysis mainlyhelps to understand the major causes affecting during experimental analysis along with finding the desired results bycomparing them with the experimental results. The last part of this analysis focuses on studying the composite defects duringmechanical characterization with the help of scanning electron microscope. Finally, adopted multicriteria decision-makingtechnique to optimize the process parameters by considering all the obtained experimental results to satisfy the proposedapplication specifically can be used for marine structure development.
