The development of IT technology has enabled the PC-based user life patter to move to a mobile-based one. In the past, there were many restrictions due to the performance and characteristics of mobile phones, but now they are capable of supporting the majority of activities. The explosive supply of the smart phone, which may be deemed as the aggregate of IT technology, greatly affects the living patterns of people. The most representative effect is in the field of financial service. The financial service field was perceived as an extremely personal domain in the past, but now processing many tasks have become impossible without IT technology. Financial services, which were processed online from a PC, are now processed in a mobile environment through smart phones. Also, whereas financial services were provided under the initiative of financial corporations in the past, they are recently provided under the initiative of non-financial corporations like ICT corporations, as the Fintech markets begins to grow. Thus, the purpose of the present study is to investigate the rapidly growing Fintech, based on the recent social interest and the advancement of IT technology, and analyzes the factors that affect Fintech acceptance by the users.
The present study, based on preceding studies, drew out variables including convenience, compatibility, information security, uncertainty, mobility, and innovativeness as factors that affect Fintech services. Preceding studies measured the convenience variable mainly from a uni-dimensional apsect, but the present study measured it from a multi-dimensional aspect. Also, the study developed and used an on/offline compatibility variable in order to measure the advantage of use online and offline simultaneously. Furthermore, other variables were reorganized according to the purpose of the study based on preceding research to configure and verify the research model, and a unified theory of acceptance and use of technology was used to measure user acceptance.
The analysis revealed that the convenience variable, divided into transaction convenience and benefit convenience, positively affected performance expectancy and effort expectancy. Although technical compatibility appeared as positively affecting performance expectancy and effort expectancy, on/offline compatibility positively affected performance expectancy, whereas, it failed to affect effort expectancy. Also, information security appeared as positively affecting performance expectancy and effort expectancy, and uncertainty appeared as negatively affecting both performance expectancy and effort expectancy. Mobility positively affected performance expectancy but failed to affect effort expectancy, and innovativeness failed to affect performance expectancy but positive affected effort expectancy. Lastly, performance expectancy and effort expectancy positively affected intention to use.
