영유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 아동기애착경험과 성격 및 양육신념이 어머니 역할수행에 미치는 영향

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 영유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 아동기 애착경험, 성격, 양육신념과 어머니 역할수행 간의 관계를 살펴보고, 이러한 변인들이 어머니 역할수행에 미치는 상대적 영향력을 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 서울, 경기남부 2개시(C시, T시)에 영유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니 559명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 어머니의 모-애착경험과 부-애착경험이 어머니 역할수행 간에 모두 유의한 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 성격 변인과 어머니 역할수행 간의 관계에서 신경증은 유의한 부적 상관관계를, 외향성, 개방성, 성실성, 친화성 등의 성격 변인과는 모두 유의한 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 양육신념 변인과 어머니 역할수행 간의 관계는 인성/지적성취 강조신념과 유의한 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으나, 성숙주의/환경주의 신념과 전체주의/개인주의 신념과는 유의한 관계가 나타나지 않았다. 둘째, 어머니의 아동기 애착경험과 성격 및 양육신념 가운데 어머니 역할수행을 가장 잘 예측할 수 있는 변인은 어머니의 성격 중 친화성으로 나타났으며, 다음으로 개방성, 성실성, 인성/지적성취 강조신념, 아동기 모-애착경험, 전체주의/개인주의 양육신념 순으로 나타났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The goals of this study were to examine correlations among maternal role performance, childhood-attachment experience, personality, and parenting belief among mothers and to examine the effect of these variables on maternal role performance. The sample consisted of 559 mothers with young children living in Seoul and Kyounggi province (city C, city T). Main findings were as follows. First, mothers who experienced a good relationship with their own mother and father during childhood scored higher in their own parenting behavior. In terms of personality, extrovert, open-minded, and friendly mothers scored higher on maternal role performance. In addition, mothers with low neurosis scored higher on maternal role performance. Mothers who strongly believed in higher intellectual accomplishment and good personality reported greater maternal role performance. High environmentalism, individualism, maturity, and wholism were not correlated with maternal role performance. Second, out of the variables related to childhood-attachment experience, personality, and parenting belief, friendliness of mothers was the strongest predictor of good maternal role performance. Openness, integrity, belief on intellectual and character accomplishments, child-maternal attachment experience of her own, and parenting belief on totalitarian vs individual person were next significant predictors of maternal role performance.
