기독교 대학 교목실 비교과 프로그램 운영의 실제 : 한신대학교 교목실 비교과 프로그램 운영을 중심으로

본 논문은 기독교 대학 교목실이 비교과 프로그램을 활용하여 본래의 교육 목적을 효과적으로 달성하고, 현재 처한 위기를 극복할 수 있는대안을 모색하고자 한다. 한신대학교 교목실이 2019학년도 2학기부터적극적으로 개발해서 운용하고 있는 비교과 프로그램을 소개하고, 특별히 코로나19가 확산하던 2020학년 2학기 비교과 프로그램에 대한 참여학생들의 만족도 결과를 분석한다. 기독교 대학 교목실은 1990년대 이후 개신교인들이 감소하고, 개인의 다양성을 강조하는 대학 분위기 속에서 재학생들이 일방적인 기독교 예배와 교리를 전달하는 채플을 거부하면서 위기에 직면했다. 또한 2020년 코로나19 확산 과정에서 일부 개신교인들의 일탈로 개신교 신뢰도는 바닥으로 떨어졌다. 기독교 대학 교목실은 이러한 위기 상황을 극복하기 위해 다양한 해결 방안을 고민하고 있다. 한신대학교 교목실은 코로나19 이후 비대면 비교과 프로그램을 적극적으로 실시하고 있다. 비교과 프로그램은 자아 탐색, 인간 관계 훈련, 심리 치료, 한신대학교 역사와 전통 이해, 소속감 향상을 주제로 진행되고 있다. 참여한 학생들은높은 만족도를 보이고 있고, 자연스럽게 교목실에 대한 신뢰도 향상되고 있다. 한신대학교 교목실 비교과 프로그램 운영에 관한 연구는 위기 상황 속에서 교목실의 미래를 고민하는 기독교 대학 교목실의 대안 마련에 좋은 사례를 제공할 것으로 생각한다. 또한 비교과 프로그램의 다양성을 확보하는 데 도움을 줄 것이다. The aim of this article is to explore how the extra-curricular programs help the chaplain’s office in Christian universities more effectively achieve educational goals. In order to accomplish this aim, first, the extra-curricular programs, which Hanshin University’s chaplain’s office has been developing and operating since the second semester of the 2019 academic year, will be introduced. Next, the results of students’ satisfaction with the video-based extra-curricular programs in the second semester of 2020 will be analyzed. The chaplain’s offices in Christian universities have faced a major crisis for various reasons since the 1990s. The number of Korean Protestants has declined. University students, emphasizing individual diversity, have begun to reject the chapels sponsored by Christian universities. In addition, the credibility of Korean Protestants has fallen to the bottom. It is because many Koreans are tired of the way some Protestant Churches reacted after the outbreak of COVID-19. The chaplain’s offices in Christian universities are contemplating various solutions to overcome this crisis. For example, the chaplain’s office in Hanshin University now provides video-based extra-curricular programs in response to COVID-19. The extra-curricular programs include the followings topics: self-discovery, interpersonal training, psychotherapy, the history and traditions of Hanshin University, and a sense of belonging. The participating students not only show high satisfaction, but are much more interested in all of the curricular and the extra-curricular activities of the chaplain’s office. This study of the extra-curricular programs will provide a good example for preparing alternatives for the future of the chaplain’s office in a crisis situation.

본 논문은 영국과 미국의 대학교에 개설되어 있는 종교학과의 현황을 분석함으로써 종교연구의 가까운 미래를 전망하였다. 먼저, 국교를 인정하는 영국에서는 두 가지 흐름의 종교연구가 있다. 잉글랜드의 옥스브리지를 비롯한 대학교들과 스코틀랜드의 고대대학교에서는 신학연구를 시작으로 세계종교연구가 추가되는 방식으로 종교학 연구가 자리를 잡았다. 반면에 1960년대에 신설된 신규대학교는 신학에서 독립하여 사회과학적, 문화비평적, 학제 간연구의 종교학을 발전시켰다. 둘째, 정교분리와 종교자유를 헌법으로 보장하고 있는 미국에서는 개신교문화의 지배 아래 설립된 사립대학교와 주립대학교의 종교연구 경향이 큰 차이를 보인다. 시카고대와 하버드대는 신학부와 종교학과가 통합구조를 이루며 발전했고 예일대는 병행구조를 보여준다. 1960년대에 종교학의 활기를 주도한 주립대학교의 종교학과는 다양한 종교와 방법론의 추구를 기초로 꾸준히 성장해 왔다. 결론적으로 영미 대학교의 종교학은 시대적.정치적.경제적 변화에 민감하게 반응하며 진화해왔다. 뉴욕의 9·11테러와 런던의 7·7테러 이후 이슬람을 비롯한 종교 간 대화와 이해 및 화해에 대한 사회적 관심이 대두되면서 종교에 대한 전통별 개별연구가 더욱 활발해졌으며 현상학적 연구를 사회과학적 연구가 보완하였다. 세계화와 국제화 및 다문화화가 가속화되고 세속화와 신학의 영향력이 위축됨에 따라서 영미의 종교학과는 21세기에도 지속적으로 성장할 것으로 전망된다. This article is to deal with the current situation and prospect of Religious Studies (RS) in UK and USA. First, in the UK where state religions are established, ancient universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, St. Andrews, Glasgow, Aberdeen, and Edinburgh have expanded from theological emphasis to world religions. The new universities including Lancaster and Stirling began first independent departments of RS without theological orientation. They developed new styles of RS with social sciences, cultural criticism, and interdisciplinary approach. Second, in the USA where the separation between politics and religion and the religious freedom are protected by her constitution, there are huge gaps between private and state universities. Chicago and Harvard developed the study of religions with their Divinity school, but Yale emphasized the parallels between theology and RS. In the 1960s, the RS departments have spread in the state universities. In conclusion, the departments of RS will increase if their faculty and students meet what modern society wants in the globalization, internationalization, and multiculturalization.

대학생활적응능력을 통한 기독교 대학 성서 교양 필수 과목 개발 모색 ― 다양성, 회복탄력성, 공감 능력을 중심으로

본 논문은 목적은 대학생활적응능력(다양성, 회복탄력성, 공감)을 고려하면서 기독교 대학 성서 교양 필수 과목 개발을 위한 방향과 대안을 모색하는 것이다. 국내외 기독교 대학들이 설립 정신과 가치를 전달하기 위해 개설하는 성서 혹은 기독교 관련 필수 과목들은 위기를 마주하고 있다. 이러한 위기는 대학 내에서 종교교육과 거리를 두려는 세속화와 전통적인 종교에 무관심하고, 개인의 자유와 다양성을 강조하는 변화된 대학생들의 문화에 기인한다. 그동안 연구자들은 기독교 대학 종교 관련 교양 교육이 맞이한 위기를 극복하기 위해 단순하고 일방적인 성서의 내용과 기독교 교리를 전달하는 교육 목표를 지양하라고 조언해 왔다. 이는 학습 수요자들인 대학생들의 이해와 요구를 충족시키는 방향으로 학습 커리큘럼을 개발하라는 것이다. 본 논문은 이러한 선행 연구를 수용하면서 코로나19 팬데믹 이후 대학생활적응에 어려움을 겪는 학생들이 크게 증가하는 상황을 고려하고자 한다. 대학생활적응능력 중에서 다양성, 회복탄력성, 공감 능력에 관한 이론을 설명하고, 한신대학교 성서 수업에 참여하는 재학생 199명의 설문 조사 결과를 바탕으로 학습자의 요구를 반영한 기독교 대학 성서 교과 개발을 위한 하나의 대안을 제시할 것이다. The purpose of this paper is to explore alternatives to mandatory Bible courses at Christian universities, considering university students’ abilities for diversity, resilience, and empathy. Christian Universities have offered Christianity-related courses for their students in order to teach founding values. However, the universities are facing a crisis. This crisis stems from secularization, distance religious education, and the changed culture of university students who are indifferent to traditional religions and emphasize their individual freedom and diversity. In order to overcome these issues facing liberal arts education related to religion at Christian universities, scholars have claimed that the educational goals of simply delivering Bible content and Christian doctrine unilaterally should be avoided. They argue that the curriculum should be developed in a direction fulfilling the understanding and demands of student learners. While accepting such preceding research, this study intends to consider the situation of students facing difficulties in adapting to university life, difficulties that have greatly increased in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The theories regarding diversity, resilience, and empathy emphasizing the adaptive abilities of university students will be explained. In addition, reflecting the learners’ demands based on survey results from 199 enrolled students taking Bible courses at Hanshin University, this paper will suggest an alternative for developing a curriculum for mandatory Bible courses.
