Intermediate State and Weak Intermolecular Interactions of α-trans-1,4-Polyisoprene During the Gradual Cooling Crystallization Process Investigated by In situ FTIR and Two-Dimensional Infrared Correlation Spectroscopy

        Xiaoan Wang,Kewei Xiang,Yijing Nie,Guangsu Huang,Jinrong Wu,Zhiqing Su 한국고분자학회 2013 Macromolecular Research Vol.21 No.5

The investigation of the gradual cooling crystallization process of α-trans-1,4-polyisoprene (α-TPI) was carried out for different wavenumber regions by conventional spectral analysis and two-dimensional correlation infrared spectroscopy (2DIR) methods. Interestingly, an intermediate state has been confirmed by the fascinating intensity variation of the 1666 cm-1 band, and the motion of side-chain (CH3 group) seems to be the initial driving force and precondition for forming the ordered 21 helix conformation. It is also found that the occurrence for the splitting of the CH3 group-related bands is consistent with the appearance of the intermediate state, indicating that the interchain interactions between CH3 groups play an important role in controlling the intermediate state and should be the primary driving force for stabilizing the specific 21 helix conformation.

The Predictive Value of Magnetic Resonance Imaging-based Texture Analysis in Evaluating Histopathological Grades of Breast Phyllodes Tumor

        Yifei Mao,Zhongtang Xiong,Songxin Wu,Zhiqing Huang,Ruoxian Zhang,Yuqin He,Yuling Peng,Yang Ye,Tianfa Dong,Hui Mai 한국유방암학회 2022 Journal of breast cancer Vol.25 No.2

Purpose: Knowing the distinction between benign and borderline/malignant phyllodes tumors (PTs) can help in the surgical treatment course. Herein, we investigated the value of magnetic resonance imaging-based texture analysis (MRI-TA) in differentiating between benign and borderline/malignant PTs. Methods: Forty-three women with 44 histologically proven PTs underwent breast MRI before surgery and were classified into benign (n = 26) and borderline/malignant groups (n = 18 [15 borderline, 3 malignant]). Clinical and routine MRI parameters (CRMP) and MRI-TA were used to distinguish benign from borderline/malignant PT. In total, 298 texture parameters were extracted from fat-suppression (FS) T2-weighted, FS unenhanced T1-weighted, and FS first-enhanced T1-weighted sequences. To evaluate the diagnostic performance, receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was performed for the K-nearest neighbor classifier trained with significantly different parameters of CRMP, MRI sequence-based TA, and the combination strategy. Results: Compared with benign PTs, borderline/malignant ones presented a higher local recurrence (p = 0.045); larger size (p < 0.001); different time-intensity curve pattern (p = 0.010); and higher frequency of strong lobulation (p = 0.024), septation enhancement (p = 0.048), cystic component (p = 0.023), and irregular cystic wall (p = 0.045). TA of FS T2- weighted images (0.86) showed a significantly higher area under the curve (AUC) than that of FS unenhanced T1-weighted (0.65, p = 0.010) or first-enhanced phase (0.72, p = 0.049) images. The texture parameters of FS T2-weighted sequences tended to have a higher AUC than CRMP (0.79, p = 0.404). Additionally, the combination strategy exhibited a similar AUC (0.89, p = 0.622) in comparison with the texture parameters of FS T2-weighted sequences. Conclusion: MRI-TA demonstrated good predictive performance for breast PT pathological grading and could provide surgical planning guidance. Clinical data and routine MRI features were also valuable for grading PTs.

The differences between copper sulfate and tribasic copper chloride on growth performance, redox status, deposition in tissues of pigs, and excretion in feces

        Zheng, Ping,Pu, Bei,Yu, Bing,He, Jun,Yu, Jie,Mao, Xiangbing,Luo, Yuheng,Luo, Junqiu,Huang, Zhiqing,Luo, Chenggui,Wang, Shaohui,Chen, Daiwen Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2018 Animal Bioscience Vol.31 No.6

Objective: The objective of this experiment was to compare the effects of adding 130 mg/kg Cu from either copper sulfate (CS) or tribasic copper chloride (TBCC) on growth performance, mineral deposition in tissues, and the excretion in feces of pigs as well as changes in the mineral contents in tissues and feces when the supplemental Cu level was decreased from 130 mg/kg to 10 mg/kg. Methods: A total of 72 pigs ($32.6{\pm}1.2kg$) were randomly assigned to a CS diet or a TBCC diet with 6 pens per treatment. The trial lasted 102 d and included 3 phases (phase 1, 1 to 30 d; phase 2, 31 to 81 d; and phase 3, 82 to 102 d). The supplemental levels of Cu in the 2 treatments were 130 mg/kg in phase 1 and 2 and 10 mg/kg in phase 3. Results: The results showed that pigs fed the CS diet tended to have higher average daily gain than pigs fed the TBCC diet during d 1 to 81 (p<0.10). Compared with CS, TBCC increased the activities of aspartate transaminase (AST), ceruloplasmin, and superoxide dismutase in serum on d 30 (p<0.05). The TBCC decreased the Cu level in the liver on d 81 (p<0.05) and increased the Mn level in the liver on d 102 (p<0.05). The concentration of Cu in feces sharply decreased when the supplemental Cu level in diet changed from 130 mg/kg to 10 mg/kg in both diets (p<0.05). Conclusion: The result suggested that TBCC and CS had no significant difference on growth performance but TBCC had higher activities of AST and antioxidant enzymes and lower liver Cu than CS when pigs fed diets with 130 mg Cu /kg diet.
