Background: Behcet`s disease (BD) is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by orogenital ulcers, skin and ocular lesions, in addition to articular, vascular, and neurologic symptoms. Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), a peripheral neuropathy caused by compression of the median nerve, can also occur in BD patients secondary to inflammation in the connective tissues, vessels, and tendons, as well as nerve involvement in BD itself. However, reports of patients who have CTS in BD are rare. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical characteristics of CTS in BD patients. Methods: Retrospective analysis of the medical records of 14 BD patients who were diagnosed with CTS was performed at the BD Specialty Clinic of Severance Hospital. Patient demographics, disease activity/severity for both diseases, and the clinical characteristics of CTS in BD were recorded and analyzed. Results: All 14 BD patients with CTS were women. Twelve patients (85.7%) were diagnosed with active BD. The CTS was mild in 8 patients (57.2%), moderate in 3 patients (21.4%), and severe in 3 patients (21.4%). Ten patients (71.4%) had BD prior to the diagnosis of CTS, and these 10 patients all had active BD. Conclusion: CTS can occur as a result of the inflammation associated with BD and can also be the presenting symptom of nerve involvement in BD. Therefore, a higher degree of suspicion should be maintained for CTS in patients with BD and vice versa; however, the exact relationship is uncertain.

Background Ralstonia solanacearum causes bacterial wilt of Pogostemon cablin which is an important aromatic herb and also the main materials of COVID-19 therapeutic traditional drugs. However, we are lacking the information on the genomic sequences of R. solanacearum isolated from P. cablin. Objective The acquisition and analysis of this whole-genome sequence of the P. cablin bacterial wilt pathogen. Methods An R. solanacearum strain, named SY1, was isolated from infected P. cablin plants, and the complete genome sequence was sequenced and analyzed. Results The SY1 strain contains a 3.70-Mb chromosome and a 2.18-Mb megaplasmid, with GC contents of 67.57% and 67.41%, respectively. A total of 3308 predicted genes were located on the chromosome and 1657 genes were located in the megaplasmid. SY1 strain has 273 unique genes compared with five representative R. solanacearum strains, and these genes were enriched in the plant–pathogen interaction pathway. SY1 possessed a higher syntenic relationship with phylotype I strains, and the arsenal of type III effectors predicted in SY1 were also more closely related to those of phylotype I strains. SY1 contained 14 and 5 genomic islands in its chromosome and megaplasmid, respectively, and two prophage sequences in its chromosome. In addition, 215 and 130 genes were annotated as carbohydrate-active enzymes and antibiotic resistance genes, respectively. Conclusion This is the first genome-scale assembly and annotation for R. solanacearum which isolated from infected P. cablin plants. The arsenal of virulence and antibiotic resistance may as the determinants in SY1 for infection of P. cablin plants.

Thermoforming is one of the most versatile and economical processes to produce polymer products. The drawback of thermoforming is difficult to control thickness of final products. Temperature distribution affects the thickness distribution of final products, but temperature difference between surface and center of the sheet is difficult to be decreased because of low thermal conductivity of ABS material. In the first step, it was found out that timedependent variation of heat affects to the temperature difference between surface and center. An analytic solution was studied because the optimization time is remarkably large when optimal design is directly carried out using the analysis code developed in a previous study. Duhamel’s Theorem was used in order to solve a one-dimensional heat conduction with a time-dependent boundary condition when neglecting the effect of natural convection, but the analytic solution was difficult to be applied when the boundary condition is complicate or noncontinuous. In the following step, an optimal heating profile expressed by exponential function was recommended from 8 simple optimal cases using Duhamel’s Theorem, but the analysis results show that the effect of natural convection must be considered under the condition of setting the heat fluxes as suitable values. In order to consider the effect of natural convection with suitable heat inputs, Finite Difference Method was used. Through investigation, the optimal results using Finite Difference Method show that the temperature difference between surface and center of the sheet can be remarkably minimized with satisfying Temperature of Forming Window.

Nowadays, low-cost radio frequency identification (RFID) technique, is recognizable without the physical contact between the reader and the tag, has been attracting more and more interests from both industry and academic institutes. however, it causes the serious privacy infringement such as excessive information exposure and user's location information tracking due to the wireless characteristics. The security problem of read only tag can be only solved by physical method. In this paper, we propose a low-cost authentication protocol which can be adopted for read-only RFID tag using XOR and Partial ID. The proposed protocol is secure against reply attacking, eavesdropping and spoofing attacking so that avoiding the location privacy exposure

Objective: Tiny cerebral aneurysms are difficult to embolize because the aneurysm’s sac is too small for a single small coil, and coils within the aneurysm may escape from the confinement of a stent. This study was performed to introduce the stent-assisted coil-jailing technique and to investigate its effect on the coil embolization of tiny intracranial aneurysms. Materials and Methods: Sixteen patients with tiny intracranial aneurysms treated with the stent-assisted coil-jailing technique between January 2011 and December 2013 were retrospectively reviewed and followed-up. Results: All aneurysms were successfully treated with the coil-jailing technique, and at the end of embolization, complete occlusion of the aneurysm was achieved in 9 cases (56.3%), incomplete occlusion in 6 (37.5%), and partial occlusion in 1 (6.3%). Intraprocedural complications included acute thrombosis in one case (6.3%) and re-rupture in another (6.3%). Both complications were managed appropriately with no sequela. Follow-up was performed in all patients for 3–24 months (mean, 7.7 months) after embolization. Complete occlusion was sustained in the 9 aneurysms with initial complete occlusion, progressive thrombosis to complete occlusion occurred in the 6 aneurysms with initial near-complete occlusion, and one aneurysm resulted in progressive thrombosis to complete occlusion after initial partial occlusion. No migration of stents or coils occurred at follow-up as compared with their positions immediately after embolization. At follow-up, all patients had recovered with no sequela. Conclusion: The stent-assisted coil-jailing technique can be an efficient approach for tiny intracranial aneurysms, even though no definite conclusion regarding its safety can be drawn from the current data.

Background: Behcet`s disease (BD) is a chronic multisystemic vasculitis affecting blood vessels of any caliber or type. Recent evidence suggests that the clinical expression of BD is lessening. Objectives: Our aim was to examine the clinical expression of BD in Korea during the past three decades via a large patient registry. Methods: Initial manifestations of patients with BD seen at a tertiary referral hospital from 1983 to 2012 were reviewed retrospectively, stratifying patients by decade to compare epidemiologic data and cardinal symptoms. Results: A total of 3,674 patients with BD were reviewed. Significant proportionate declines occurred with respect to male gender, complete type of BD, and major presenting features (genital ulcers, ocular involvement, and skin lesions) whereas mean patient age rose progressively, as did frequencies of joint, gastrointestinal(GI), and central nervous system(CNS) manifestations (all p<0.0001). Conclusion: During the past three decades, clinical expression of BD in Korea has changed, resulting in fewer instances of complete type disease, declining male propensity, and shifting patterns of organ involvement.

Aims: This study was conducted to evaluate the levels of TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-6, IL-8 and VEGF in serum of patients with non- small cell lung cancer, for assessing their possible diagnostic and prognostic roles. Methods: We enrolled 48 patients newly diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer and 40 healthy controls. TNF- ${\alpha}$, IL-6 and IL-8 levels were measured in the serum of all the subjects with specific radioimmunoassay kits, while EGF was analyzed by sandwich enzyme immunoassay techniques. Results: A statistically significant difference was observed between lung cancer patients and the control group regarding the values of TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-6, IL-8 and VEGF in serum. Moreover, TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-8 and VEGF levels were higher in patients with advanced stages compared to early stages. In addition, higher serum levels of TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-6, IL-8 and VEGF were found in smokers than in non-smokers, both in patients and controls. Conclusion: Serum levels of TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-6, IL-8 and VEGF were all elevated in lung cancer patients, suggesting that inflammatory cytokines could be jointly used as a screening tool. Though TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-8 and VEGF levels were related to advanced disease, long-term survival studies of NSCLC patients should be performed to confirm whether they can act as biomarkers of advanced disease. In addition, smoking would be an important contributor to the processes of inflammation and lung cancer.
