PERTURBED THREE-STEP ITERATIVE PROCESSES WITH ERRORS FOR GENERAL STRONGLY NONLINEAR QUASIVARIATIONAL INEQUALITIES

        ZHAO, YALI,XIA, ZUNQUAN,LIU, ZEQING,KANG, SHIN MIN 한국전산응용수학회 2005 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.17 No.1

In this paper, we introduce and study a class of general strongly nonlinear quasivariational inequalities in Hilbert spaces. We prove the existence and uniqueness of solution and convergence of the perturbed the three-step iterative sequences with errors for this kind of general strongly nonlinear quasivariational inquality problems involving relaxed Lipschitz, relaxed monotone, and strongly monotone mappings. Our results extend, improve, and unify many known results due to Liu-Ume-Kang, Kim-Kyung, Zeng and others.

A cosmic ray muons tomography system with triangular bar plastic scintillator detectors and improved 3d image reconstruction algorithm: A simulation study

        Zhao Yanwei,Luo Xujia,Qin Kemian,Liu Guorui,Chen Daiyuan,Augusto R.S.,Zhang Weixiong,Luo Xiaogang,Liu Chunxian,Liu Juntao,Liu Zhiyi 한국원자력학회 2023 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.55 No.2

Purpose: Muons are characterized by a strong penetrating ability and can travel through thousands of meters of rock, making them ideal to image large volumes and substances typically impenetrable to, for example, electrons and photons. The feasibility of 3D image reconstruction and material identification based on a cosmic ray muons tomography (MT) system with triangular bar plastic scintillator detectors has been verified in this paper. Our prototype shows potential application value and the authors wish to apply this prototype system to 3D imaging. In addition, an MT experiment with the same detector system is also in progress. Methods: A simulation based on GEANT4 was developed to study cosmic ray muons' physical processes and motion trails. The yield and transportation of optical photons scintillated in each triangular bar of the detector system were reproduced. An image reconstruction algorithm and correction method based on muon scattering, which differs from the conventional PoCA algorithm, has been developed based on simulation data and verified by experimental data. Results: According to the simulation result, the detector system’s position resolution is below 1 ~ mm in simulation and 2 mm in the experiment. A relatively legible 3D image of lead bricks in size of 20 cm 5 cm 10 cm used our inversion algorithm can be presented below 1 104 effective events, which takes 16 h of acquisition time experimentally. Conclusion: The proposed method is a potential candidate to monitor the cosmic ray MT accurately. Monte Carlo simulations have been performed to discuss the application of the detector and the simulation results have indicated that the detector can be used in cosmic ray MT. The cosmic ray MT experiment is currently underway. Furthermore, the proposal also has the potential to scan the earth, buildings, and other structures of interest including for instance computerized imaging in an archaeological framework.

Densifi cation of matrix graphite for spherical fuel elements used in molten salt reactor via addition of green pitch coke

        Zhao He,Hongchao Zhao,Jinliang Song,Xiaohui Guo,Zhanjun Liu,Yajuan Zhong,T. James Marrow 한국원자력학회 2022 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.54 No.4

Green pitch coke with an average particle size of 2 mm was adopted as densifier and added to the rawmaterials of conventional A3-3 matrix graphite (MG) to prepare modified A3-3 matrix graphite (MMG)by the quasi-isostatic molding method. The structure, mechanical and thermal properties were assessed. Compared with MG, MMG had a more compact structure, and exhibited improved properties of highermechanical strength, higher thermal conductivity and better molten salt barrier performance. Notably, under the same infiltration pressure of 5 atm, the fluoride salt occupation of MMG was only 0.26 wt%,whereas it was 15.82 wt% for MG. The densification effect of green pitch coke endowed MMG withimproved properties for potential use in the spherical fuel elements of molten salt reactor.

      • Acupuncture reduces nicotine-induced norepinephrine release in the hypothalamus via the solitary NMDA receptor/NOS pathway

        Liu, Hong Feng,Zhao, ZhengLin,Zhang, Jie,Wu, Yi Yan,Jiao, Yu,Wu, Tong,Kim, Sang Chan,Lee, Bong Hyo,Fan, Yu,Lee, Chul Won,Kim, Young Woo,Yang, Chae Ha,Zhu, Xiao Dong,Zhao, Rong Jie Elsevier 2019 Neuroscience Letters Vol.705 No.-

Abstract

Noradrenergic projections from the nucleus tractus solitarius (NTS) to the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN) are involved in nicotine (Nic) dependence. Nic induces hypothalamic norepinephrine (NE) release through N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors (NMDARs) and nitric oxide in the NTS. However, acupuncture attenuates Nic withdrawal-induced anxiety. Therefore, this study investigated the effects of acupuncture on Nic-induced hypothalamic NE release. Rats received an intravenous infusion of Nic (90 μg/kg, over 60 s) and extracellular NE levels in the PVN were determined by in vivo microdialysis. Immediately after Nic administration, the rats were bilaterally treated with acupuncture at acupoint HT7 (Shen-Men) or PC6 (Nei-Guan), or a non-acupoint (tail) for 60 s. Acupuncture at HT7, but not at PC6 or the tail, significantly reduced Nic-induced NE release. However, this was abolished by a post-acupuncture infusion of either NMDA or sodium nitroprusside into the NTS. Additionally, acupuncture at HT7, but not the control points, prevented Nic-induced plasma corticosterone secretion and inhibited Nic-induced increases in the phosphorylation of neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) and endothelial NOS in the NTS. These findings suggest that acupuncture at HT7 reduces Nic-induced NE release in the PVN via inhibition of the solitary NMDAR/NOS pathway.

Highlights

Acupuncture inhibited nicotine-induced hypothalamic norepinephrine release.

Acupuncture diminished nicotine-induced plasma corticosterone secretion.

Acupuncture reversed nicotine-induced phosphorylation of solitary nNOS and eNOS.

NMDA abolished acupunctural effects on nicotine-induced norepinephrine release.

NO abolished acupunctural effects on nicotine-induced norepinephrine release.

      • Chemical composition of giants from two moving groups

        Liu, F.,Chen, Y. Q.,Zhao, G.,Han, I.,Lee, B. C.,Kim, K. M.,Zhao, Z. S. Blackwell Publishing Ltd 2012 Monthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society Vol.422 No.4

ABSTRACT

We present the stellar parameters of 19 K‐type giants and their abundances for 13 chemical elements (Al, Ba, Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, Sc, Si, Ti and V), selected from two moving groups, covering the metallicity range of −0.6 < [Fe/H] < 0.2, based on high‐resolution spectra. Most of the elemental abundances show similar trends as in previous studies, except for Al, Na and Ba, which are seriously affected by evolution. The abundance ratios of [Na/Mg] increase smoothly with higher [Mg/H], and those of [Al/Mg] decrease slightly with increasing [Mg/H]. The abundance ratios of [Mg/Ba] show a distinction between these two moving groups, which is mainly induced by chemical evolution and also partly by kinematic effects. The inhomogeneous metallicity of each star from the moving groups demonstrates that these stars had different chemical origins before they were kinematically aggregated. This favours a dynamical resonant theory.

Internal Mammary Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy after Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy in Breast Cancer

        Zhao Bi,Peng Chen,Jingjing Liu,Yanbing Liu,Pengfei Qiu,Qifeng Yang,Weizhen Zheng,Yongsheng Wang 한국유방암학회 2018 Journal of breast cancer Vol.21 No.4

Purpose: The definition of nodal pathologic complete response (pCR) after a neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) just included the evaluation of axillary lymph node (ALN) without internal mammary lymph node. This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of internal mammary-sentinel lymph node biopsy (IM-SLNB) in patients with breast cancer who underwent NAC. Methods: From November 2011 to 2017, 179 patients with primary breast cancer who underwent operation after NAC were included in this study. All patients received radiotracer injection with modified injection technology. IM-SLNB would be performed on patients with internal mammary sentinel lymph node (IMSLN) visualization. Results: Among the 158 patients with cN+ disease, the rate of nodal pCR was 36.1% (57/158). Among the 179 patients, the visualization rate of IMSLN was 31.8% (57/179) and was 12.3% (7/57) and 87.7% (50/57) among those with cN0 and cN+ disease, respectively. Furthermore, the detection rate of IMSLN was 31.3% (56/179). The success rate of IM-SLNB was 98.2% (56/57). The IMSLN metastasis rate was 7.1% (4/56), and all of them were accompanied by ALN metastasis. The number of positive ALNs in patients with IMSLN metastasis was 3, 6, 8, and 9. The pathology nodal stage had been changed from pN1/ pN2 to pN3b. The pathology stage had been changed from IIA/ IIIA to IIIC. Conclusion: Patients with visualization of IMSLN should perform IM-SLNB after NAC, especially for patients with cN+ disease, in order to complete lymph nodal staging. IM-SLNB could further improve the definition of nodal pCR and guide the internal mammary node irradiation.

Influences of Bridge Group on Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Epoxy Resins

        Liu Yuan,Zhao Jun,Liu Ai-Qin,Liu Xiao-Qing,Luo Jun 한국고분자학회 2020 폴리머 Vol.44 No.4

In order to obtain thermosetting epoxy resin, it is the prerequisite condition that the epoxy precursor must contain at least two epoxy groups. Thus, bridge group is needed to link the epoxy groups, and naturally, the chemical structure of the bridge group may also influence the thermomechanical performances of the cured epoxy resin. However, literature about the effects of bridge group on properties of cured epoxy is seldom published. To fill the gap, three model epoxy monomers containing different bridge groups have been synthesized from 4,4"-dihydroxydiphenyl, 1,1-bis(4- hydroxyphenyl)cyclohexane and bisphenol A in this work. After chemical structure confirmation, all of the monomers are cured by methylhexahydrophthalic anhydride (HMMPA), and the properties of the obtained cured network are evaluated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic thermomechanical analysis (DMA), tensile test and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results show that bulky bridge group can effectively increase the glass transition temperature, enhance the tensile strength, and enlarge elongation at break of the cured epoxy resin.

Effects of Three Feeding Systems on Production Performance, Rumen Fermentation and Rumen Digesta Particle Structure of Beef Cattle

        Liu, Y.F.,Sun, F.F.,Wan, F.C.,Zhao, H.B.,Liu, X.M.,You, W.,Cheng, H.J.,Liu, G.F.,Tan, X.W.,Song, E.L. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2016 Animal Bioscience Vol.29 No.5

The effects of three different feeding systems on beef cattle production performance, rumen fermentation, and rumen digesta particle structure were investigated by using 18 Limousin (steers) with a similar body weight ($575{\pm}10kg$) in a 80-d experiment. The animals were equally and randomly divided into three treatment groups, namely, total mixed ration group (cattle fed TMR), SI1 group (cattle fed concentrate firstly then roughage), and SI2 group (cattle fed roughage firstly then concentrate). The results showed that the average daily gain was significantly higher in cattle receiving TMR than in those receiving SI1 and SI2 (p<0.05). Consumption per kg weight gain of concentrate, silage, and combined net energy (NEmf) were significantly decreased when cattle received TMR, unlike when they received SI1 and SI2 (p<0.05), indicating that the feed efficiency of TMR was the highest. Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) was significantly decreased when cattle received TMR compared with that in cattle receiving SI1 (p<0.05), whereas there was no difference compared with that in cattle receiving SI2. Ammonia nitrogen concentration was significantly lower in cattle receiving TMR than in those receiving SI1 and SI2 (p<0.05). The rumen area of cattle that received TMR was significantly larger than that of cattle receiving SI1 (p<0.05), but there was no difference compared with that of cattle receiving SI2. Although there was no significant difference among the three feeding systems in rumen digesta particle distribution, the TMR group trended to have fewer large- and medium-sized particles and more small-sized particles than those in the SI1 and SI2 groups. In conclusion, cattle with dietary TMR showed increased weight gain and ruminal development and decreased BUN. This indicated that TMR feeding was more conducive toward improving the production performance and rumen fermentation of beef cattle.
