Comprehensive review on physical properties of supercritical carbon dioxide calculated by molecular simulation

        Gaoliang Liao,Yuntao Du,Feng Zhang,Jiaqiang E 한국화학공학회 2023 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.40 No.1

The applications of molecular simulation in supercritical carbon dioxide (S-CO2) and its mixtures are reviewed. First, an overview of physical properties of S-CO2 and CO2 models is given. Secondly, the accuracy of S-CO2 thermodynamic and transport properties calculated by different models is compared. It shows that Zhang’s model has relatively better global accuracy in calculating thermodynamic properties. EPM2, Zhang and Cygan models have similar accuracy when calculating transport properties based on equilibrium molecular simulation (EMD) method, but generally have higher deviations when calculating thermal conductivity. Therefore, EMD and non-equilibrium molecular simulation (NEMD) methods have been compared in calculating thermal conductivity. The results show that NEMD is better than EMD but the process is complicated. The structural properties are also discussed in this part. Thirdly, the applications of molecular simulation in S-CO2 binary organic, binary inorganic and multiple mixtures are reviewed. Finally, the summary and the prospect of future works are given.

Preparation and Evaluation of Pectin-based Colon-specific Pulsatile Capsule In Vitro and In Vivo

        Jing Liu,Liang-ke Zhang,Yuntao Jia,Wenjing Hu,Jing-qing Zhang,Huiming Jiang 대한약학회 2012 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.35 No.11

The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate a colon-specific, pulsatile drug delivery system, which consists of an impermeable capsule body filled with a 5-aminosalicylic acid rapid-disintegrating tablet and a pectin-based erodible plug placed in the opening of the capsule body. To obtain an appropriate gel-forming ability and suitable lag time for the colon-specific drug delivery, high-methoxy pectin (HM-pectin) was formulated with lactose and lowmethoxy pectin (LM-pectin) with HPMC to prepare the plug tablet. In order to evaluate the lag time, prior to the rapid drug release, both the formulation of the plug tablet and in vitro release medium were studied. The lag time prior to the rapid drug release was mainly determined by the HM-pectin/lactose or LM-pectin/HPMC ratio. The addition of pectinase or rat cecal content into the release medium shortened the lag time significantly, which predicted the probable enzyme sensitivity of pectin plug tablet. In vivo studies showed that the plasma concentration of drug can only be detected 6 h after oral administration of the pulsatile capsule, which indirectly proved the colon-specific characteristics. These results show that the pulsatile capsule may have the therapeutic action for colon-specific drug delivery.

      • Research on Protection and Inheritance Strategy of Endangered Traditional Ceramic Crafts in Southern Fujian Folklore

Xiaobo Lian,Qingnian Zhang,Linping Zhou,Yuntao Huang,Zhouqing Liu KOREA INSTITUTE FOR HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES 2024 Journal of Arts and Cultural Studies(ACS) Vol.3 No.1

Background: In recent years, China's established many institutions and introduced reform programs to protect cultural heritage. Purpose:This research analyzes the protection status and development mode of endangered traditional ceramics in southern Fujian to better protect the endangered traditional ceramic technology in southern Fujian. It further researches ceramic process protection and inheritance development strategy. Methods: The attitudes of relevant national organizations towards protecting endangered traditional crafts are analyzed in the ceramic factory areas around Chaoshan and Foshan. The Dehua white porcelain, Jingdezhen porcelain mothers, and Foshan Shiwan dolls are compared through comparative research and literature to study various methods for protecting endangered traditional crafts. Further analyses on the strategies for the protection and development of the inheritance of endangered traditional ceramic crafts in the folklore of southern Fujian are also performed. Results: This article analyzes the protection and inheritance strategies of traditional ceramic crafts endangered in southern Fujian. It summarizes the three inheritance strategies of supporting inheritance talents, improving the protection mechanism, and establishing the protection and inheritance of traditional ceramic crafts on campus. Conclusion: The study of ceramic process protection strategy can summarize three points. First, to strengthen the precision support; second, to improve the inheritance and protection mechanism; and third, to establish research on the protection and inheritance of traditional ceramic processes.

How Does an Extra-Long Freeway Tunnel Influence Driving Performance? A Comparative Study of Driving Simulation

        Pengcheng Qin,Jie He,Changjian Zhang,Yuntao Ye,Hao Zhang,Mingnian Wang,Tao Yan 대한토목학회 2023 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.27 No.9

Extra-long tunnels have adverse effects on driving performance since drivers will be affected by the enclosed, dimly lit, and monotonous environment for a longer time. In the context of the increasing number of extra-long tunnels, this study aims to investigate the effects of extra-long freeway tunnels with a length of 20 km on driving performance using driving simulation tests. Factors including the tunnel environment, driving time, traffic flow, and gender were considered as influencing factors. Performance indicators including the brake reaction time, standard deviation of driving speed, and standard deviation of lateral position were collected. A total of 60 drivers were recruited for the driving simulation study, and the relationships between the driving performance indicators and influencing factors were analyzed by establishing linear mixed models with random intercept. The results demonstrate that driving performance significantly degraded after 5 − 6 min of driving in the extra-long tunnel although drivers were more cautious and presented a better performance when just entering the tunnel. Moderately higher traffic flow could improve driving performance in the extra-long tunnel but not on the open road. Meanwhile, female drivers had better lateral and longitudinal stability in the extra-long tunnel, while no significant difference was witnessed in reaction ability and driving performance on the open road.

The upregulation of keratocan promotes the progression of human pancreatic cancer

        Gao Huijie,Qian Ruikun,Ren Qiang,Zhang Litao,Qin Wei,Zhou Caiju,Wang Huiyun,Liu Chao,Zhang Yuntao 대한독성 유전단백체 학회 2024 Molecular & cellular toxicology Vol.20 No.2

Background The role of the extracellular matrix (ECM) in oncogenic contexts has been studied previously, but the expression patterns and functional role of keratocan, a classical small leucine-rich proteoglycan found in the ECM, in tumors remain poorly understood. As pancreatic cancer (PC) is characterized by desmoplasia in the ECM, this study sought to assess the significance of keratocan in PC. Objective In this study, Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA) was first used to analyze the expression pattern of keratocan in PC. Keratocan, P53, and P21 levels were evaluated in PDAC patient tissues and the role of keratocan was additionally directly assessed via transfecting PDAC cell lines with a pENTER-human keratocan construct. Results Patients with PC showing high levels of keratocan had low survival rates. A significantly upregulated expression of keratocan was observed in the PC tumor tissues in comparison to healthy paracancerous tissues. Keratocan upregulation in BxPC-3 and PANC-1 cells markedly enhanced their proliferation and migration, but reduced cellular apoptosis. Furthermore, the P53 and P21 expression levels were significantly reduced in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cells overexpressing keratocan. P53 and P21 were downregulated in PC tumor tissues. Conclusions All results showed that keratocan played important roles in the promoting of PC.
