The optical anisotropy of a clean Cu(110) surface has been studied using RDS (reflectance difference spectroscopy. The contribution to the RDS signal on the Cu(110) surface in the photon energy range between 1.5 eV and 5.5 eV can be divided into three groups according to the different origins of the electronic states involved in the optical transitions: (1) the surface-state transitions from unoccupied to occupied surface states (including the surface resonance, (2) inter-band transitions derived from the bulk band structure modified in the surface region, and (3)intra-band electronic transitions which decay rapidly beyond 2 eV. 깨끗한 Cu(110) 표면의 광학적 이방성을 RDS(Reflectance Difference Spectroscopy)를 사용하여 연구하였다. Cu(110) 표면으로부터 나오는 1.5 eV에서 5.5 eV 에너지 영역에서 RDS 신호에 영향을 미치는 것은 광학적 전이와 관련하여 3가지 분류로 나눌 수 있다. (1) 표면에 생긴 표면 상태에 의한 점유 상태와 빈 상태의 전이에 의한 것, (2) bulk에서 유래된 변형된 전자구조에 의한 것, (3) 띠내 상태들 사이의 전이에 의한 것 등이 있다.

A 53-year-old woman was referred for ventricular fibrillation with resuscitation. A CT-angiography showed signs of a right ventricular enlargement without obvious cause. A cardiac MRI demonstrated a dilated and hypokinetic right ventricle with extensive late gadolinium enhancement. Arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia (ARVD) was suspected according to the “revised ARVD task force criteria”. An endomyocardial biopsy was inconclusive. The patient developed purulent pericarditis after epicardial ablation therapy and died of toxic shock syndrome. The post-mortem pathologic examination demonstrated sarcoidosis involving the heart, lungs, and thyroid gland.
Graviton production with 2 jets at the LHC in large extra dimensions

We study Kaluza-Klein (KK) graviton production in the large extra dimensions model via 2 jets plus missing transverse momentum signatures at the LHC. We make predictions for both the signal and the dominant <I>Zjj</I> and <I>Wjj</I> backgrounds, where we introduce missing <I>P</I><SUB><I>T</I></SUB>-dependent jet selection cuts that ensure the smallness of the 2-jet rate over the 1-jet rate. With the same jet selection cuts, the distributions of the two jets and their correlation with the missing transverse momentum provide additional evidence for the production of an invisible massive object.
