Although the deposition of metallic domains on a preformed semiconductor nanocrystal provides an effective pathway to access diverse hybrid nanocrystals with synergistic In2O3 metal/semiconductor heterojunction interface, those reactions that take place on the surface of semiconductor nanoscrystals have not been investigated thoroughly, because of the impediments caused by the surface-capping organic surfactants. By exploiting the interfacial reactions occurring between the solution and nanoparticles confined with the cavities of hollow nanoparticles, we propose a novel nanospace-confined strategy for assessing the innate reactivity of surfaces of inorganic semiconductor nanoparticles. This strategy was adopted to investigate the newly discovered process of spontaneous Pt deposition on In2O3 nanocrystals. Through an in-depth examination involving varying key reaction parameters, the Pt deposition process was identified to be templated by the defective In2O3 surface via a unique redox process involving the oxygen vacancies in the In2O3 lattice, whose density can be controlled by high-temperature annealing. The product of the Pt-deposition reaction inside the hollow silica nanoparticle, bearing In2O3-supported Pt catalysts inside the cavity protected by a porous silica shell, was proved to be an effective nanoreactor system which selectively and sustainably catalyzed the reduction reaction of small-sized aromatic nitro-compounds. Moreover, the surfactant-free and electroless Pt deposition protocol, which was devised based on the surface chemistry of the In2O3 nanoparticles, was successfully employed to fabricate Pt-catalyst-modified ITO electrodes.with enhanced electrogenerated chemiluminescece (ECL) performance.

Change and Continuity in the Political Attitudes of Canadian University Students, 1986-2011
Steven Holloway(Steven Holloway ),Youngwon Cho(Youngwon Cho) 한국캐나다학회 2013 Asia-Pacific Journal of Canadian Studies (APJCS) Vol.19 No.2
While Political Science is taught at nearly every university in Canada, little is known about the political attitudes of the Canadian students actually taking courses in the discipline. Beyond anecdotal evidence based largely on personal impressions, there has been no other indicator to gauge our students’ political dispositions and preferences, especially over an extended period of time. We shed some light on this issue by presenting the findings of a survey of first-year students taking an introductory course in Political Science at [name withheld for blind review]. Spanning over 25 years from 1986 to 2011, the survey and its findings provide a useful window into the evolving pattern of political attitudes among our first-year students, which include, among others: ideological inclinations, both self-identified and more objectively measured; party preferences; views on Quebec separatism; support for Canada’s international activism; attitudes toward the US; and assessment of international economic openness.
Magnetic resonance imaging features of the biceps tendon rupture in a Labrador retriever dog
Cho, Hyunju,Choi, Hojung,Lee, Youngwon The Korean Society of Veterinary Science 2020 大韓獸醫學會誌 Vol.60 No.4
A five-year-old spayed female Labrador retriever presented with right forelimb lameness one day earlier. Radiographs and computed tomography of the right shoulder joint revealed conspicuous enthesophytes, bone cyst, and bone fragment at the intertubercular groove. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a loss of continuity of the biceps tendon and inhomogeneous hyperintense signal of the surrounding soft tissue and moderate synovial fluid on T2- and proton density-weighted images with contrast enhancement on the postcontrast T1-weighted images. The dog was diagnosed with tenosynovitis and biceps tendon rupture with osteoarthritis based on a comprehensive evaluation of the computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging features.

The purposes of this study were to determine the optimal dose and delay time for lymphography by injection of Iohexol into popliteal lymph nodes and to assess images of computed tomography by the established protocol. Three different doses (30, 60 and 90 mgI/kg) of water-soluble iodinated contrast medium were injected into 15 popliteal lymph nodes of 10 adult beagles, and fluoroscopy was performed. Filling and duration of contrast media and the number of visible ducts from popliteal lymph nodes to the thoracic duct and its branches were recorded. CT lymphography was performed, and the number of visible thoracic ducts was compared with that found by radiographic lymphography. Radiographs obtained between 130 and 800 seconds after injection of contrast medium provided a detailed view of the thoracic duct. The dose of 60 mgI/kg was determined to enable quality diagnostic imaging without extranodal leakage in radiographic lymphography. There was no significant difference in the number of thoracic ducts between the two modalities at each anatomic location. However, CT lymphography provided images of the thoracic duct with better spatial resolution and without superimposition of surrounding tissue. The present study provides an adequate delay time and injection for identification of the canine thoracic duct, and therefore, this technique could be applied to diagnosis of disease associated with chest lymphatic drainage.

In Korea, the temperature falls below 0 °C in winter and rises above 0 °C in spring. This change in temperature between the two seasons results in the ground alternatively freezing and thawing, which leads to road surfaces being damaged. Predicting the ground temperature becomes very important in identifying and responding to potential infrastructure damage due to the ground freezing and thawing. A simulation was conducted through numerical analysis using the Crank-Nicholson differential method to predict the temperature of each layer of a road. Moreover, the data gathered from measuring the temperature at each layer of a road over a period of 42 days in “Evaluation of Validity for Anti-frost Layer and Development of its Construction Criteria,” organized by the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs (2012), were used for the simulation. The training for temperature prediction of the anti-frost layer was performed using deep learning machine learning techniques with 650 days of measurement data by changing the number of hidden layers and nodes. With two hidden layers, 40 nodes, and 100 nodes, the reliability of the training result was close to 1. The reliability of the predictive model, a by-product of the training, was approximately 0.87.
