      • Histone deacetylase 3 is selectively involved in L3MBTL2-mediated transcriptional repression

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>This is the first report that L(3)mbt-like 2 (L3MBTL2) specifically interacts with the histone deacetylase domain of histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3) via its MBT domain. Here, we show that L3MBTL2 selectively interacts with HDAC3, but not other class I HDACs. An in vitro peptide-binding assay demonstrated the specific association of HDAC3 with methylated histone-K20 tail and L3MBTL2. Furthermore, depletion of HDAC3 resulted in a decrease of methylated K20-H4, as well as an increase in acetylated histone H3. Consequently, HDAC3 knock-down selectively suppressed L3MBTL2-mediated transcriptional repression.         Epiglottitis is an uncommon but potentially life threatening infectious disease in young children. And it is rapidly progressing cellulitis of the epiglottis and adjacent structures that has the potential for causing abrupt, complete airway obstruction. The most common cause of acute epiglottitis is Haemophilius influenzae type b (Hib), therefore in USA, the acute epiglottitis is seen less commonly since the wide spread use of immunization against Hib. In Korea, there has been no report of acute epiglottitis caused by known bacterial organism, and a little investigation of the effects of the immunization against Hib, or Hib related respiratory diseases. In this report, we describe two cases of acute epiglottitis caused by Hib, occurred in non-immunized young-male children admitted to Ajou University Hospital. They had visited to the emergency center of Ajou University hospital with the complaints of acute fever, drooling, dysphagia and severe respiratory difficulties. In both cases, we observed the cherry-red colored, severely swollen epiglottis by the direct laryngoscopic examination. Hib was cultured in blood samples from both two cases, and the patients treated successfully by the 3 days of endotracheal intubation and proper antibiotics therapy without any complications such as pneumonia, meningitis, osteomyelitis, or pericarditis.

        신규간호사와 프리셉터가 인지하는 프리셉터의 교수효율성 비교

        Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare preceptors and new graduate nurses on their perception of preceptor teaching effectiveness. Methods: The participants were 90 new nurses and 90 preceptors who worked in A medical center. The data were collected from July 1 to September 30, 2008. A cross-sectional descriptive survey was done using a structured questionnaire. Results: New nurses' perception (4.07±.44) of the preceptor teaching effectiveness was significantly higher than perception of the preceptors (3.57±.37). Fifty five percent of new graduate nurses reported a lack of coherence in the preceptor's practice guidelines. For 5 causal factors classified on the teaching effectiveness, the factor of 'Professional knowledge and ability' showed the highest score, but 'Interpersonal and communication skill' got lowest score for both group. Preceptors responded that they did not have enough time to teach well because of their heavy workloads. Conclusions: These results suggest that the preceptors need appropriate compensation and education opportunities, and new graduate nurses need consistent education by the teaching professionals. Therefore, it is important to give preceptors full charge of the preceptorship. Also, it will be necessary to develop education programs to enhance interpersonal and communication skill for preceptors and new nurses.

      • 수입 가전제품에 대한 소비자 정보탐색노력과 구매후 만족도에 관한 연구

        This study was designed to examine the level of consumer information search efforts, disconformed expectancy and pot-purchase satisfaction of foreign appliances, as well as to examine socio-demographic variables, disconformed expectancy and their influences on post-purchase satisfaction. 411 housewives residing in Taegu were questionaired. The method utilized for the analysis are descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, t-test and multiple regression analysis. The statistical processing was done with the SPSS PC? package program. Major findings are as follows: 1. Consumer information search efforts of foreign appliences showed less than middle-point, and disconformed expectancy and post-purchase satisfaction proved more than middle-point. 2. Post-purchase satisfaction showed significantly different according to information search eeforts, such as visiting shops and asking salesman. 3. Variables that related with post-purchase satisfaction are age, occupation, income, disconformed expectancy and information search efforts, such as advertisement, comparing the models, as well as visiting shops.

      • 다중 쓰레드 기반의 병렬처리서버용 안티바이러스 엔진

        악성코드에 대한 보다 바람직한 예방은 클라이언트측이 아닌 서버측에서 이루어지는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 새로운 개념 의 서버용 안티바이러스 엔진인 SAVE 1.0을 설계 구현하여 제시한다. SAVE는 기본적으로 1개의 AV모니터와 다수의 AV에이전트로 구성되어 있는데 다중 CPU를 장착한 병렬처리서버의 특징을 직접 활용하기 위하여 관리자가 다중쓰레드 기법을 직접 지정할 수 있도록 하고 있다 악성코드를 5가지 부류로 구분하여 바이러스 시그너쳐 DB를 구축 제공함으로써 부류별 진단을 지정할 수 있도록 하고 있으며 실시간 네트워크 패킷 검사를 통한 악성코드 유입 점검 기능도 제공한다. 웹 기반의 관리자 인터페이스는 뛰어난 사용자 편의성을 제공하고 있다. 성능실험결과 악성코드 검색율은 국내외 상용제품과 비교해서 매우 우수한 것으로 나타났으며 검색속도에 있어서도 서버의 CPU 수 증가에 거의 선형 비례하여 향상되는 특징을 보이고 있다. It is more desirable to prevent and detect the malicious codes in server system rather than in client PCs. In this paper, we suggest a new anti-virus engine, SAVE 1.0, which is executed on a parallel processing server. SAVE consists of 1 AV monitor and several AV agents. A system administrator can control the degree of multi-thread directly in order to enhance the utilization of parallel processing servers. Virus signature DBs in SAVE are classified into 5 categories, which support system administrator's options to use the classifier or not. By real-time checking of network packets, the influx of malicious codes can be prevented. Web-based GUI is one of the convenient functions provided in SAVE. In performance tests, we have confirmed that SAVE has higher virus detection ratio than any other AV engine, and SAVE has a desirable feature as an software of parallel processing servers since the performance of SAVE is improved almost linearly as the CPUs in a parallel processing server increases.

        쇠뜨기 및 화살나무가 고지방 식이를 섭취한 흰쥐의 체내 지질대사에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

        This study was designed to find out the effects on the lipid metabolism of two herbs used in folk treatment in Korea-The two herbs were A: Equisetum arvense L. (Seddugi), B: Eunymus alatus Siebold. (Hwasalnamoo). The experiment was performed with the male rats of Sprague-Dawley which fed on high calorie and animal fat supplemented diets from which 30% of the total calories can from lard. Experimental groups were divided into standard (ST) and two other(A, B) groups for the each herb. Each of the two experimental groups consisted of three sub-groups(Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ) according to the three different doses of the folk remedy used, which were five times and ten times the dose commonly used in a folk remedy. During the experimental period, total food intake and body weight gains were measured, and FER, CER, PER were calculated at the same times. Serum levels of triglyceride, total lipid, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, and total lipid as well as cholesterol contents of the liver were measured at the time of sacrifice. Epididymal fat pads were weighted and an index was calculated. The results of the effects on the lipid metabolism were as follows: 1. Total food intake and body weight gains increased in group A&B. 2. The serum levels of the total lipid and triglyceride decreased in AⅢ, BⅠ and BⅢ. 3. The serum level of cholesterol decreased in group B, while level of HDL-Cholesterol were increased in all groups and most effectively in group B. 4. The contents of total liver lipid increased in groups A&B, cholesterol decreased in groups A&B. In conclusion, effects on the lipid metabolism associated with the kinds of herbs a diet were the increase of body weights and the decrease of total lipid and cholesterol levels in serum and liver.

      • 전문대학도서관 서비스 품질이 고객만족에 미치는 영향

        This study is performed for the purpose of finding out customer satisfaction, the service quality of libraries of the very important function. In order to accomplish the goal, SERVQUAL measure method developed by Parasuraman in market is applied to the quality of library for an actual proof experiment with a set of questionnaire. This study operated on the object of 500 students totally, each of the 100 ones in the special part, based on D college. The results of this study are as follows: 1. The customers who use a library consider the most important part of service as library facility, circulation, opening time, possibility to get materials from shelving, adequation of collection. Instead, the study shows the relatively low level: public relations, user education, holdings of other libraries, processing civil affairs. 2. In the satisfaction degree of service quality in grades, there are no difference between them. 3. In the satisfaction degree of service quality in sexes, the male students shows higher level of tangibles, responsiveness, and reliability. 4. In the satisfaction degree of service quality majors, there are some differences in tangibles, assurance, empathy, except in reliability among them. Especially, the students in the Information and Communication Department shows low degree. 5. In the satisfaction degree of service quality in frequency, the students who use visit library two or three times a week shows the lowest degree. 6. In the satisfaction degree of service quality in academic grades, there are no differences ampong them in tangibles, reliability, assurance, empathy. However, excellent students show low degree in responsiveness.

        민들레 추출액 농도에 따른 민들레 코팅쌀밥의 품질에 관한 연구

        Washed rice was coated by spraying aqueous dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) extracts at 20, 30, 40 'Brix and dried at room temperature. The coating procedure was conducted 5 mL/min for 10min. Property changes in the dandelion coated rice and un-coated cooked rice were observed during 2 days of storage. Increasing the coating concentration was associated with lower color values (L, a value) and moisture contents. Sensory and texture properties generally decreased in the cooked rice coated with dandelion more than the control (non-coated rice). But, D-20(20 °Brix of the dandelion concentration) resulted in better textural properties and s ensnry scores for hardness and overall acceptability in cooked rice. Compared to the control, the washed rice roated with 20 °Brix for 0 and 2 days showed better quality in sensory activities, a lower gel consistency and better textural activities. It was concluded that the optimum coating ration of rice and added dandelion extract for cooking were 20 °Brix and 5% respectively, in proportion to the total weight of raw rice.

        서울지역 주부들의 식생활관리실태 조사 연구

        This study was undertaken to investigate the current meal management situation and behaviors of the housewives in Seoul during the period January in 1993. The aim of this study was to improve meal management by finding out problems and differences in future, which has been compared with the study of meal management in 1980. This study has been performed by questionnaire about kitchen forms, cooking machines, foodstuffs buying forms, plan of the price in meal and meal management behaviors. The results were summarized as follows: 1. 85% of the housewives had stand-up fashioned kitchen forms, and they were equipped with variety of cooking machines and high possession percentage that. 2. 66.7% of the housewives spent the price of meal under plan, 31.1% of them purchased foodstuffs daily. 3. The time spent in preparing the table of breakfast and lunch was about 60 minutes and dinner was about 90 minutes. The time spent in clearing the table of breakfast and lunch was about 20 minutes and dinner was about 40 minutes. 4. The numbers of daily cooking rice was the higher percentage twice a day than once a day, but increased higher percentage once a day than 1980's. 5. In preparing kimchi most of housewives were making it in their homes and number of making kimchi once a 15 day and a month was high percentage. 6. When they prepared meals they gave higher percentage to the tastes of families than nutrition . The number of preparing a side dish in breakfast and lunch was 3~4, and dinner was 5~6. 7. In most cases housewives cooked for themselves, and the number of husbands who help their wives for kitchen work was increased in group of younger housewives than older. 8. The environment of kitchen work is improved to many facility but not to be desired facility, and meal management behaviors is changing gradually into more convenience but not to be changing into more scientific forms.
