        cis-(5.5.7.12.12.14-hexamethyl-1.4.8.11-tetraazacyclotetradecane)dichloro chromium(Ⅲ) chloride{cis-[Cr([14]-decane)(Cl)₂]Cl}를 출발 물질로 하여 보조 리간드{L_(a)=malonate (mal^(2-). acetylacetonate (acac^(-). benzoate (bz^(-). p-chlorobenzoate(cbz^(-). chloroacetate(ca^(-))}를 결합시킨 착물들을 합성하였다. 이들 Cr(Ⅲ) 착물들은 6배위 착물을 형성한다. cis-[Cr([14]-decane)(acac)](ClO₄)₂ 결정은 a=20.021(1)Å. b=30.112(1)Å. c=12.708Å. α=90˚. β=127.112(1)˚. γ=90˚. V=6101.1(4)ų 및 Z=8의 cell constant를 갖고 있는 C_(2/c) 공간군이며, 단사결정체이다. Cr^(3+) 이온 주위에 4개의 amine 질소 원자와 bidentate로 결합한 acetyacetonate의 2개 산소 원자가 capped square pyramid 구조를 형성하면서 6배위 기하구조를 갖는다. cis-[Cr(tetb)(cbz)₂]ClO₄ 결정은 a=12.093(1)Å. b=20.358(1)Å. c=28.852Å. α=90˚. β=90˚. γ=90˚. V=7103.1(7)ų 및 Z=8의 cell constant를 갖고 있는 P_(bca) 공간군이며, 사방정계 결정체이다. Cr^(3+) 이온 주위에 4개의 amine 질소원자와 2개의 p-chlorobenzoate에서 각각 1개 산소원자가 capped square pyramid 구조를 형성하면서 6배위 기하구조를 갖는다. New chromium(Ⅲ) complexes are synthesized from the starting material of cis-(5.5.7.12.12.14-hexamethyl-1.4.8.11-tetraazacyclotetradecane)dichloro chromium(Ⅲ) chloride{cis-[Cr([14]-decane)(Cl)₂]Cl} with auxiliary ligands {L_(a)=malonate (mal^(2-). acetylacetonate (acac^(-). benzoate (bz^(-). p-chlorobenzoate(cbz^(-). chloroacetate(ca^(-))}. The compounds are a six-coordinated chromium(Ⅲ) complexes. The crystal of cis-[Cr([14]-decane)(acac)](ClO₄)₂ is monoclinic. space group C_(2/c). with cell constant a=20.021(1)Å. b=30.112(1)Å. c=12.708Å. α=90˚. β=127.112(1)˚. γ=90˚. V=6101.1(4)ų. and Z=8. The hexacoordination geometry around Cr^(3+) ion is a capped square pyramid made up of four amine nitrogens and bidentate acetyacetonate two oxygens. The crystal of cis-[Cr(tetb)(cbz)₂]ClO₄ is orthorhombic. space group P_(bca) with cell constant a=12.093(1)Å. b=20.358(1)Å. c=28.852Å. α=90˚. β=90˚. γ=90˚. V=7103.1(7)ų. and Z=8.         화상 환자에서 발생한 외과적 중재술을 요하는 감염성 심내막염 2예

        감염성 심내막염은 화상 후에 발생할 수 있는 치명적인 합병증이다. 임상 증상은 일반적으로 없는 경우가 대부분이고 지속되는 발열과 양성 혈액 배양 검사가 유일하다. 감염의 다른 확실한 원인 없이 발열과 양성 혈액 배양 검사가 있을 때는 감염성 심내막염을 강력하게 의심해야 하며 심장 초음파로 진단 가능하다. 감염성 심내막염은 사망률은 높지만 초기에 진단하면 항생제 정주를 지속하는 것으로 치료할 수 있다. 저자들은 화상환자에서 발생한 수술적 처치를 필요로 하는 감염성 심내막염 2예를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다. Infective endocarditis is a rare but fatal complication following burn injury. The clinical presentation is silent, but with persistent fever and positive blood culture. The manipulation of clinical care as well as the burn wound itself and immunosuppression caused by extensive bums puts the burn patients at risk of bacteremia. Staphylococcus aureus and Gram-negative bacilli are most common pathogens of infective endocarditis following burns. We report herein two cases of infective endocarditis in the burn patients who requires surgical intervention. The first case was caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa with complication of multifocal pneumonia, and the second case by coagulase-negative stapylococcus with cerebral hemorrhage.

        Syntenin increases the invasiveness of small cell lung cancer cells by activating p38, AKT, focal adhesion kinase and SP1

        <P>Syntenin is a PDZ domain-containing adaptor protein that has been recently shown to regulate migration and invasion in several tumors. Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is notorious for its invasiveness and strong potential for metastasis. We therefore studied the influence of syntenin on the invasiveness of SCLC. Immunohistochemistry in tumor tissues showed that syntenin was more frequently expressed in small cell carcinomas than other neuroendocrine tumors, such as carcinoids and neuroblastomas, suggesting that syntenin expression may be related to more aggressive forms of neuroendocrine tumors. In SCLC patients, syntenin overexpression in tumor cells was significantly associated with more extensive and advanced disease at the time of diagnosis (<I>P</I>=0.029). Overexpression of syntenin in SCLC cells that were intrinsically syntenin-low increased the invasiveness of cells and led to the induction of extracellular matrix (ECM)-degrading membrane type 1-matrix metalloproteinase (MT1-MMP) and matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2). In contrast, suppression of syntenin in syntenin-high cells was associated with the downregulation of MT1-MMP. Contrary to the results of previous studies using malignant melanomas and breast carcinomas, signaling cascades were shown to be further transduced through p38 MAPK and PI3K/AKT, with activation of SP1 rather than NF-κB, under circumstances not involving ECM interaction. In addition, the upstream molecule focal adhesion kinase was induced by syntenin activation, in spite of the absence of ECM interaction. These results suggest that syntenin might contribute to the invasiveness of SCLC and could be utilized as a new therapeutic target for controlling invasion and metastasis in SCLC.</P>

      • Effect of Strontium Addition on Stability of Zinc-Tin-Oxide Thin-Film Transistors Fabricated by Solution Process

        <P>We fabricated bottom-gate, bottom-contact oxide thin-film transistors (TFTs) using solution-processed strontium -doped zinc-tin-oxide (SrZTO) as the active material and high-κ aluminum oxide (AlOx) gate insulator at the maximum process temperature of 300 °C. The effect of Sr content on the device performance of the SrZTO TFTs was investigated, where Sr was changed from 0 to 20%. With increasing Sr concentration, threshold voltage shifted to the positive voltage, since the incorporation of Sr reduces the density of oxygen vacancy in ZTO. The mobility increases and threshold voltage shift to positive voltage with increasing Sr, and a 5% Sr doped ZTO transistor with AlOx gate insulator exhibited the field effect mobility of 7.82 cm<SUP>2</SUP>/V·s, subthreshold swing of 121 mV/dec, and threshold voltage of 0.71 V. It is found that the threshold voltage shifts by negative bias illumination stress decrease with increasing Sr.</P>

        Epidemiology and Risk Factors for Bacteremia in 144 Consecutive Living-Donor Liver Transplant Recipients

        <P><B>Purpose</B></P><P>Bacteremia is a major infectious complication associated with mortality in liver transplant recipients. The causative organisms and clinical courses differ between medical centers due to variations in regional bacterial epidemiology and posttransplant care. Further, living donors in Korea contribute to 83% of liver transplants, and individualized data are required to improve survival rates.</P><P><B>Patients and Methods</B></P><P>We retrospectively analyzed 104 subjects who had undergone living-donor liver transplant from 2005 to 2007.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Among the 144 consecutive living-donor liver transplant recipients, 24% (34/144) developed bacteremia, 32% (46/144) developed non-bacteremic infections, and 44% (64/144) did not develop any infectious complications. Forty episodes of bacteremia occurred in 34 recipients. The major sources of bacteremia were intravascular catheter (30%; 12/40), biliary tract (30%; 12/40), and abdomen (22.5%; 9/40). Gram-positive cocci were more common (57.5%; 23/40) than Gram-negative rods (32.5 %; 13/40) and fungi (10%; 4/40). The data revealed that the following factors were significantly different between the bacteremia, non-bacteremic infection, and no infection groups: age (<I>p</I> = 0.024), posttransplant hemodialysis (<I>p</I> = 0.002), ICU stay (<I>p</I> = 0.012), posttransplant hospitalization (<I>p</I> < 0.0001), and duration of catheterization (<I>p</I> < 0.0001). The risk factors for bacteremia were older than 55 years (odds ratio, 6.1; <I>p</I> = 0.003), catheterization for more than 22 days (odds ratio, 4.0; <I>p</I> = 0.009), UNOS class IIA (odds ratio, 6.6; <I>p</I> = 0.039), and posttransplant hemodialysis (odds ratio, 23.1; <I>p</I> = 0.001). One-year survival rates in the bacteremic, non-bacteremic infection, and no infection groups were 73.2%, 91.3%, and 93.5%, respectively.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Early catheter removal and preservation of renal function should focus for improving survival after transplant.</P>

      • Effects of DRD2 and CYP2D6 genotypes on delta EEG power response to aripiprazole in healthy male volunteers: a preliminary study

        <P>The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of polymorphisms in dopamine D2 receptor (DRD2) and cytochrome P450 (CYP) 2D6 genes on delta EEG power response to aripiprazole in healthy male volunteers. Seventeen volunteers were recruited according to the DRD2 Taq1A genotype, and separated into the following groups: homozygous wild-type (A2/A2, n = 7), heterozygous (A2/A1, n = 5) and homozygous variant-type (A1/A1, n = 5) groups. After enrollment in this study, they were genotyped for CYP2D6. The volunteers received single 10 mg oral doses of aripiprazole, in accordance with an open-label parallel group study design. Plasma levels of aripiprazole and its metabolite were determined and EEGs were obtained simultaneously. The pharmacodynamic parameter was absolute delta power in the Cz channel. The changes of delta power were not different according to DRD2 Taq1A genotypes. As to the CYP2D6 allele, the subjects had the following CYP2D6 genotypes: *10/*10 (n = 4), *1/*10 (n = 5), *1/*5 (n = 2), *1/*1 (n = 3), *2/*41 (n = 1), *2/*2 (n = 1), *2N/*10 (n = 1). Subjects exhibiting the *1/*5 and *1/*10 genotypes showed a trend toward high area under the plasma aripiprazole concentration-time curve (AUC), which was linearly related to area under the EEG response-time curve (AUEC). Our results demonstrate a need for further evaluation of the CYP2D6 genotypic effect on the pharmacodynamics of aripiprazole. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.</P>

        Stable and High-Performance Indium Oxide Thin-Film Transistor by Ga Doping

        <P>Research on a replacement of amorphous silicon for a thin-film transistor (TFT) and large area electronics has been driven by costly vacuum processed indium-gallium-zinc oxide (IGZO). Even though widely studied, the performances still require improvement, and a wide number of other materials have been tested. While indium-zinc oxide, IGZO, indium-zinc-tin oxide (ZTO), and ZTO have been widely investigated, gallium-doped indium oxide (IGO) has not been under highlight. Here, we report the use of simple and cost effective spin-coated IGO TFT using spin-coated AlOx gate dielectric. We achieved high mobility over 50 cm(2)/Vs and high stability. The thin films are studied by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectra, atomic force microscopy, and field-effect measurements. Analyses reveal the strong dependence between crystallinity, mobility, and stability. All TFTs show excellent operation, with champion characteristics for the 10% Ga-doped InOx, revealing a mobility of 52.6 cm(2)/Vs, ON/OFF ratios of 10(8), and V-TH variation of <0.1 V during 1 h of stress measurement.</P>
