Waterborne fluorinated acrylate copolymer (WFAC) for surface modification of textile was synthesized from perfluoroalkyl ethyl acrylate, octadecyl acrylate, glycidyl methacrylate, surfactant and 3,3 methyl-methoxy butanol. The structures of the synthesized WFAC were determinated by FT-IR and ^(19)F-NMR analysis. The thermal stability investigated with DSC and TGA was decreased with increasing the content of fluorinated acrylate in the copolymer. However, the particle sizes of WFAC were increased with increasing the content of fluorinated acrylate in the copolymer. The surface energies calculated by contact angles of WFAC were in the range of 29.80~3.41 dyne/cm. On the observing SEM of the textile surface treated with WFAC, the textile was swollen and compacted with increasing the concentration of water repellency agent. WFAC synthesized in this study showed a good water repellency.

한국 진도견의 serum protein 및 lipoprotein 변동에 관한 연구

The concentration of serum proteins and lipoproteins in Korean Jindo dogs were examined from the time of after birth to 150 days of age. Eight(4 females and 4 males) Jindo dogs were used in this study. Concentration of serum proteins and lipoproteins were fractioned by cellulose acetate electrophoresis. The results are summarized as follows; 1. The total serum protein concentrations at 1 days(4.6±0.4 g/dl) after birth were lower than in adult dogs, thereafter increased rapidly at 3 days(7.1±0.6 g/dl) of ages, and there was no significant changes between sexes. 2. The concentrations of serum protein from the time of after birth to 150 days of age were 0.35±0.1-8.5±0.2 g/dl and 0.5±0.1-0.8±0.2 g/dl, respectively. The γ-globulin concentrations were not detected 1 days after birth and increased rapidly after pups ingested colostrum(after 3 days of age), thereafter there was no significant changes of γ-globulin concentration after 10 days of age. 3. The concentrations of serum α, β-lipoprtein were not detected 1 days after birth and increased rapidly after pups ingested colostrum(at 3 days of age), from the time of after birth to 150 days of age were 49.1±11.6-94.1±16.4 ㎎/dl and 11.7±6.5-102.0±10.8 ㎎/dl, respectively. 4. the γ-lipoprtein concentrations no detected 1 days after birth and increased rapidly after pups ingested colostrum(at 3 days of age, 11.6±2.5 ㎎/dl) and decreased gradually during 50 days of age, and thereafter increased rapidly during 100-150 days of age(71.8±4.8-77.2±4.1 ㎎/dl).

초음파 검사로 측정한 비장의 크기 : 한국인 성인남녀 100명을 대상으로

Purpose : Ultrasound has been found to be accurate, reliable and noninvasive method in the measurement of spleen. The study was undertaken to obtain standard values of size in three dimensions and normal range of splenic volume by the use of splenic volumetric index(SVI) in normal korean adults. Material and Method : We experienced 100 cases of abdominal ultrasonography of normal korean adults from May 1995 to August 1995. Results : 1) The average size of spleen in adult male was 6.85±1.31cm in breadth, 4.93±1.27cm in thickness, 6.33±1.46cm in height ; in adult females, 6.61±1.23cm, 5.17±1.26cm, 6.33. 42cm, respectively ; total average, 6.73±1,27cm, 5.05±1.27cm, 6.33±1.39cm,respectively. 2) The average splenic volumetric index in adult male was 8.20±3.95; in adult females, 8.41±4.08 ; total average,8.31±4.00. There were no statistical differences of SVI and size between sex and age. Conclusion : Although ultrasonography is less accurate than computed tomography, it is rapid and simple method for splenic measurement.

산소배양환경이 치주인대에서 유래한 세포에 미치는 영향에 관한 형태학적 연구

This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of oxygen culture condition on the cells derived from human periodontal ligament by observation of morphological change. Human periodontal ligament fibroblasts were collected from premolars extracted for orthhodontic treatment and incubated in the environment of 37℃, 5% CO_2, 100% humidity. For the change of culture condition, O_2, CO_2 and N_2 gases were mixed with 10%, O_2, 5% CO_2 and 85% N_2 in hypoxic group, 90% O_2, 5% CO_2 and 5% N_2 in hyperoxic group, and 5% CO_2 and 95% air for control, and the cells were incubated in 37℃ for 2 and 4 days. The cells after incubation were measured for the quantity of total collagen by colorimetry and were stained for the observation of morphological change by direct immunfluoroscence method. After 2 days, the cells showed the decreased level of total collagen in the 10% O_2 and 90% O_2 cultured cells in contrast cells (Control : 9.33 ± 1.49, 10% O_2 : 5.32 ± 0.51, 90% O_2 : 5.82 ± 0.94). After 4 days, the cells increased the amount of total collagen in 10% O_2 and 90% O_2 groups but this value was not overtaken in control cells. In the morphological change, cells showed the 10% O_2 cultured cells after 2days atrophy of nucleus, hypertrophy of cytoplasm, and weakly stimulation of differentiation and growth in compared to control cells. After 4 days, cells showed cell necrosis and moderate hypertrophy of cytoplasm. The 90% O_2 cultured cells in 2 day groups, the nucleus was changed to oval and cells showed cellular swelling and partial death. At 4 days after culture, dead cells were increased and the nucleus became long and thin. These results suggest that periodontal ligament cell might induce irreversible cellular adaption by hypoxia and hyperoxia condition, and consequently rapid irreversible cellular adaption might be induced by hyperoxia condition.

합성 Goethite에 의한 인산이온, 황산이온 및 구리이온의 흡착 특성

Adsorption of phosphate, sulfate, and copper ion to goethite was investigated. Goethite was prepared in the alkaline solution. In the single adsorbate systems, the final equilibrium plateau reached within 20 min. The adsorption isotherms of the individual ions could be well described by the Langmuir equation. The maximum adsorption capacities (q_(max)) were calculated as 0.483 mmol/g and 0.239 mmol/g at pH 3 for phosphate and sulfate ion, and 0.117 mmol/g at pH 6 for copper ion, respectively. In competitive adsorption system with phosphate and sulfate, phosphate ion was a stronger competitor for adsorption on goethite than sulfate ion, which was consistent with higher affinity of phosphate ion for the surface compared to sulfate ion. The existence of sulfate ion enhanced the adsorption of copper ion but the adsorption of sulfate was inhibited when copper ion was present.

IP/GMPLS/WDM 시스템 시험 방안

In recent years, the IP trafic has been increased in an unprecedented rate, and as a result, the IP/GMPLS/WDM networking solution has been proposed for the next generation Internet, Now, the WDM systems have been deployed in the real communication networks, and at the same time, the standardization for the control plane of WDM network (e.g., GMPLS) has been actively in progress. It is expected that the WDM system with GMPLS control plane will be introduced in the market in near future. However, although it is necessary for the WDM systems to be verified working properly as recommended in the standards before the deployment, there has been a little work in this area. Thus, in this paper, we propose an efficient test procedures for the IP/GMPLS/WDM systems to minimize any networking problem of WDM systems when daployed. The test procedures are proposed for two area: the WDM system and the GMPLS control plane protocols, each of which covers the conformance test, the interoperability test, and the performance test.

Purpose: Kyungpook National University School of Medicine initiated a pilot project to admit small number of qualified students who received BS degree or above in the field of sciences in 1996. This study was conducted to evaluate effectiveness of the pilot project. Methods: Students academic grades, outcome of their opinion surveys on adaptability to the school life, difficulties and problems from the classes of 1996 to 2001 were analyzed. Results: A total of 57 students were admitted to this program over the past 7-year period, 54.8% of them from natural science major and 36.8% from engineering. Students admitted with BS degree were performing above average in the class by % rank. There was no significant difference in academic performance between the natural science and the engineering major. Of 20 graduated, only one took career in basic medical science (physiology). The students thought undergraduate education was helpful in maturing personal characters than in knowledge or skill attainment. Conclusion: The achievement of medical students admitted after baccalaureate level was comparable to that of students with two years of premedical education.

세라믹-세라믹 인공 고관절 치환술에서 반복된 세라믹 골두 골절

인공 고관절 전치환 술에서 세라믹 비구 라이너와 세라믹 인공골두 조합 인공 고관절 전 치환술은 금속-금속 인공 고관절과 함께 내구성으로 인해 광범위하게 사용 되어지고 있다 세라믹-세라믹 조합형의 인공 고관절은 특히 젊은 환자에서 낮은 마모율, 닳아짐이 적고 친수성의 특성과 닳아진 마모편도 인체에 무해한 것으로 보고되고 있다, 반면 세라믹 골두의 골절은 커다란 단점이다, 보고는 적으나, 세라믹 골두의 단경부 형(short neck) 에서 많이 골절이 되고 있다. 본 증례는 두차례의 골절로 단경부 형, 중간부 형(medium neck) 모두에서 골절이 되어 세라믹 문제뿐 아니라, 비구 컵의 비정상 위치에 의한 충돌로 인한 골절로 추정 되었다. 또한 치료법으로 철저한 활액막 제거 후 탈구 방지형 폴리라이너 비구 컵과 금속 대퇴골두로서 치료 하였으며 걱정되는 세라믹 마모 편에 의한 폴리라이너의 과도한 마모도 발생되지 않아 이를 보고 하고자 한다. Alumina ceramic-on-ceramic total hip arthroplasty is a widely-adopted option, especially for younger patients, due low wear, scratch resistance, the wettable characteristics of alumina ceramics, and because of the relatively low biological reactivites of ceramic wear particles. However, fracture remains a significant problem because ceramics are inherently brittle, and few reports have been issued on short head fractures. In the described case, a ceramic head fracture occurred only 8 months after replacing the original head and with a new 28 mm head and liner. Both of these incidents may have been caused by head-to-liner impingement due to excessive anteversion of the metal shell. During the second revision surgery, this situation was managed successfully using a conventional elevated-polyethylene liner and a CoCr metal head, while retaining all metal implants.
