        The landscape industry, as a field of construction industry, has made much development together with the desire for the beautiful and pleasant environment according to the enlargement of market size, expansion of its scope of operation and national paradigm shift. It has already been placed as a true independent field with much accumulation of technologies and development of new materials for the while etc. However, the correctness of the drawings in design or construction is still error-prone due to non-principle, vagueness and approach with experience-based decisions, rather than scientific and rational approach. Besides, the propriety and accuracy in the construction field have not even been maintained and trial and error might be involved with waster by each cause. Thus, as design and construction involve various types of discordances, studies on the improvement alternatives for those causes and problems are required. The discordance can be classified into three stages; Stage 1. The cause of discordance and problem first appear. Stage 2. The cause of discordance is eliminated and controlled. Stage 3. Discordance conditions are fixed. This study presents the improvement alternatives through theoretical consideration and case studies for the causes of discordance and the stage where the problems appear. The discordance index from the results of analysis was relatively high as 26.47 on the average for the three sites. As for the analysis of each site by types, the common kind addition-type had the highest percentage with 29.8% and the number change-type was 26.43% from the results. Besides, the results of the analysis of detailed factors are listed from the highest, as construction improvement factor(23.23%), actual condition factor(19.3%) and mutual conflict factor between drawings(14.0%). From the results of the analysis of subjects that involve discordances, constructional factor showed a preponderance(63.27%, while the design factor is 36.73%). At present, the actualized discordance index from the results of the analysis of the potentiality was 20.772(78.46%) and the potential discordance index that remained discordant in the drawings was 5.702(21.54%). The problems that were derived from the results of the analysis could be summarized as the quality problem in the drawings, the problems in the construction process and the problems in the process of the design change, and the improvement alternatives for those problems are as followings; ①First, the paradigm shift of the designers, the precise and thorough inspection of the drawings and the liability system for incomplete designs etc. can be considered, and ②Secondly, the importance of the original drawings is required to be understood, as the responsibility is clarified in case of a change and the improvement of the understanding of each subject is needed, and ③Thirdly, those discordances will be prevented in advance when irrational factors in the process of design change, the stage where discordances are controlled, are improved, and unfair intentions including proposal of changes out of principle, expectation of protection from liability of incomplete designs are restrained.

        정신분열병 환자에서 통계적 확률 해부학 지도를 이용한 확산텐서영상 연구 : 겉보기 확산 계수 지도를 이용한 고찰

        Objectives : Diffusion tensor imaging (DTl) studies of schizophrenia, thus far, have mainly focused on white matter abnormalities reflected in anisotropy indices such as fractional anisotropy (FA), but recently, new implications of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) have been proposed. This is. to our knowledge, the first study to analyze ADC maps of schizophrenic Patients using statistical parametric anatomical mapping (SPAM). Methods : DTl was performed in 20 schizophrenic patients and an equal number of age- and sex-matched healthy controls. ADC maps were then generated, from which 98 volumes of interest were extracted using SPAM. Probability-weighted mean values of ADC were calculated from each volume of interest and compared between the two groups. Results : Significantly higher mean ADC values were observed in patients with schizophrenia compared to healthy controls in the following volumes of interest: bilateral hippocampal formation, bilateral uncus, nght thalamus, light temporal lobe white matter, right superior temporal gyrus, bilateral insula and right lateral ventricle. Conclusion : The results support the recently proposed assertion that regionally increased ADC may reflect cortical brain atrophy. In addition, a new possibility is raised that a neuropathological event involving both the gray and the white matter may also play a role.

      • Diazepam과 Lidocaine이 노인환자의 기관내삽관시 심전도 및 심맥관계에 미치는 영향

        We selected at random 30 geriatric patients who had received operation under the general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation. The patients were divided into 3 groups. Group 1 (control) had received endotracheal intubation without diazepam and lidocaine. Group 2 had received endotracheal intubation with diazepam. Group 3 had received endotracheal intubation with lidocaine. The changes of arterial blood pressure and pulse rate, and the appearance of arrhythmia were compared in each group. The results were as follows : 1. The increase of blood pressure and heart rate were less in group 2, 3 than the control group which showed significant increase of blood pressure and heart rate with endotracheal intubation. 2. The incidence of arrhythmias with endotracheal intubation was less in group 2(20%), group 3(50%) than the control group(80%). 3. The electrocardiographic change in the group 2 and 3 were not significant compared to group 1(control).

        만화 과제를 이용한 정신분열병 환자의 사회인지 능력의 측정

        Objectives : This study is to investigate the hypothesis that schizophrenic patients have difficulty in inferring mental state of others. Methods : Twenty schizophrenic patients and twenty normal subjects were administered to the Cartoon Task required inferring the character's intention in a given context. Results : The schizophrenic patients showed a statistically significant impairment in the Cartoon Task. Both groups chose the card depicting a frequent everyday action significantly more rather than the similar card to the last picture in each story for wrong answers. Conclusion : These preliminary results suggest that schizophrenia is associated with a specific deficit of the cognitive ability referred to as social cognition, and this deficit can be detected not only in the acute phase as found in previous research studies, but also in remission. Also when subjects fail to appreciate what is going on in the minds of other people, they seem to rely on a socially familiar experience.

        Anti-osteoclastic effect of caffeic acid phenethyl ester in murine macrophages depends upon the suppression of superoxide anion production through the prevention of an active-Nox1 complex formation

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This study investigated the anti-osteoclastic effect of caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) through suppression of Nox1-mediated superoxide anions production. The multi-nucleated cells were counted and followed by measuring their tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) activity. The superoxide anion production was determined by using fluorescent probe dihydroethidium (DHE). After one day of exposure to the receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL), the expression of the proteins involved in superoxide anion production was determined by western blotting. A potent anti-osteoclastic effect of CAPE was observed; the superoxide anion level reached a maximum value after one day of incubation. CAPE attenuated the expression of NADPH (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate) oxidase 1 (Nox1) and Rac1, and mitigated the RANKL-induced translocation of p47<SUP>phox</SUP> to the cell membrane. In addition, CAPE suppressed the expression of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB p65), its translocation to the nucleus, and the activation of NF-κB inhibitor (IκBα) and its kinase (IKKβ). Furthermore, CAPE diminished the expression and activation of the c-jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and the expression of protein-1 activators (AP-1) such as c-Fos and c-Jun. The expression of Nox1 was suppressed by CAPE through the down-regulation of IKKβ/IκBα/NF-κB and JNK/AP-1 signal pathway. This study provides evidence that the anti-osteoclastic effect of CAPE depends upon the attenuated superoxide anion production, which is closely related with interruption of an active Nox1 complex formation due to the attenuated catalytic subunit Nox1 expression resulting from suppression of the IKKβ/IκBα/NF-κB and JNK/AP-1 signaling pathway and the down-regulation of the p47<SUP>phox</SUP> subunit translocation to the cell membrane.</P> <P><B>Graphical Abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        Routine chest computed tomography as a preoperative work-up for primary colorectal cancer

        Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the role of pre-operative chest computed tomography (CT) compared with abdominopelvic CT (AP-CT) and chest radiography (CXR) for detecting pulmonary metastasis in patients with primary colorectal cancer (CRC). Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of 619 patients with primary CRC who simultaneously received a preoperative chest CT (chest CT group), AP-CT with hilar extension, and CXR (CXR group). Results: In the chest CT group, there were 297 (48.0%) normal, 198 (32%) benign, 96 (15.5%) indeterminate, 26 (4.2%) metastasis, and two lung cancers. Eighteen patients (2.9%) in the CXR group who had no pulmonary metastasis were diagnosed with pulmonary metastasis on a chest CT. The sensitivity and accuracy were 83.9% and 99.0% in the chest CT group, respectively, and 29.0% and 91.5% in the CXR group, respectively (P < 0.0001 and P = 0.0003). Conclusion: Chest CT appears to improve the accuracy of pre-operative staging in patients with CRC and is useful for the early detection of pulmonary metastasis as a baseline study for abnormal lung nodules.

        The Morphologic-Aware Self Adaptive (MASA) System with Image Analysis Technique for Zoysiagrass Managements

        Zoysiagrass (Zoysia japonica Steud.) is one of the most popularly cultivated grasses for sports and recreational environments, particularly in warm region. Zoysiagrass has a tardiness of vegetative propagation compared to other turfgrass. Thus farmers and green keepers want to quickly recognize the field information for management. We discuss the design of a Morphologic-Aware Self-Adaptive (MASA) system for zoysiagrass agricultural business. MASA system with image analysis technique is able to rapidly detect grass blade color and length variations caused by changing climate and environment stress. In the future, farmers and green keepers will be able to have smart-farming and smart-management with MASA system.
