      • Computer vision-based displacement measurement with m-sequence target

        Yi-Ding Hu,Qi Xia,Rong-rong Hou,Yong Xia,Jian-yi Yan 국제구조공학회 2021 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.27 No.3

The development of image sensors enables the application of vision-based techniques to the non-contact displacement measurement of large-scale structures. The features of the physical targets are critical to the accuracy, stability and anti-interference of the displacement measurement results. In this study, a novel m-sequence target and the associated circular correlation processing technique are developed for real-time displacement measurement. The properties of the m-sequence as a pseudo-random sequence are introduced. The vision-based displacement calculation method is then derived from the correlation property of the m-sequence. The algorithms and measurement systems are integrated in the LabVIEW environment. To verify the anti-interference performance of the developed system, static and dynamic experimental tests are carried out with various forms of interference, such as partial occlusion, uneven illumination, out of focus and smoke effect. Experimental results indicate that the developed system cannot only accurately measure structural displacement, but also has outstanding antiinterference performance, even if 30% of the target is masked.

Helicobacter pylori Chaperone-Like Protein CagT Plays an Essential Role in the Translocation of CagA into Host Cells

( Ding Hong Lei ),( Hao Zeng ),( Lin Ping Huang ),( Yan Dong Dong ),( Yi Jun Duan ),( Xu Hu Mao ),( Gang Guo ),( Quan Ming Zou ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2012 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.22 No.10

Most of the Helicobacter pylori strains containing the cag pathogenicity island (PAI) have been associated with more severe gastric disease in infected humans. The cag PAI is composed of 27 proteins, and some of the components are required for CagA translocation into host cells as well as induction of proinflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-8 (IL-8); however, the exact function of most of the components remains unknown or poorly characterized. In this study, we demonstrated that CagT (HP0532), which is an essential structural component of the cag PAI apparatus, plays an important role in the translocation of CagA into host epithelial cells. In addition to being located on the bacterial surface, CagT is also partially localized in the inner membrane, where it acts as a chaperone-like protein and promotes CagA translocation. However, CagT secretion was not detected by immunoprecipitation analysis of cell culture supernatants. Meanwhile, CagT was related to the introduction of IL-8 of the host cell. These results suggest that CagT is expressed on both the inner and outer bacterial membranes, where it serves as a unique type IV secretion system component that is involved in CagA secretion and cag PAI apparatus assembly.

      • A numerical study on nonlinear stability of higher-order sandwich beams with cellular core and nanocomposite face sheets

        Ke Ding,Hu Jia,Jun Xu,Yi Liu,Haneen M. Al-Tamimi,Mohamed Amine Khadimallah 국제구조공학회 2022 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.83 No.4

In this research, a numerical study has been provided for examining the nonlinear stability behaviors of sandwich beams having a cellular core and two face sheets made of nanocomposites. The nonlinear stability behaviors of the sandwich beam having geometrically perfect/imperfect shapes have been studied when it is subjected to a compressive buckling load. The nanocomposite face sheets are made of epoxy reinforced by graphene oxide powders (GOPs). Also, the core has the shape of a honeycomb with regular configuration. Using finite element method based on a higher-order deformation beam element, the system of equations of motions have been solved to derive the stability curves. Several parameters such as face sheet thickness, core wall thickness, graphene oxide amount and boundary conditions have remarkable influences on stability curves of geometrically perfect/imperfect sandwich beams.

Bacteria-based multiplex system eradicates recurrent infections with drug-resistant bacteria via photothermal killing and protective immunity elicitation

        Youcui Xu,Yi Wu,Yi Hu,Mengran Xu,Yanyan Liu,Yuting Ding,Jing Chen,Xiaowan Huang,Longping Wen,Jiabin Li,Chen Zhu 한국생체재료학회 2023 생체재료학회지 Vol.27 No.00

Background The high mortality associated with drug-resistant bacterial infections is an intractable clinical problem resulting from the low susceptibility of these bacteria to antibiotics and the high incidence of recurrent infections. Methods Herein, a photosynthetic bacteria-based multiplex system (Rp@Al) composed of natural Rhodopseudomonas palustris (Rp) and Food and Drug Administration-approved aluminum (Al) adjuvant, was developed to combat drug-resistant bacterial infections and prevent their recurrence. We examined its photothermal performance and in vitro and in vivo antibacterial ability; revealed its protective immunomodulatory effect; verified its preventative effect on recurrent infections; and demonstrated the system’s safety. Results Rp@Al exhibits excellent photothermal properties with an effective elimination of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). In addition, Rp@Al enhances dendritic cell activation and further triggers a T helper 1 ( TH1)/TH2 immune response, resulting in pathogen-specific immunological memory against recurrent MRSA infection. Upon second infection, Rp@Al-treated mice show significantly lower bacterial burden, faster abscess recovery, and higher survival under near-lethal infection doses than control mice. Conclusions This innovative multiplex system, with superior photothermal and immunomodulatory effects, presents great potential for the treatment and prevention of drug-resistant bacterial infections.

H_3PW_12_O40/SiO_2 for sorbitol dehydration to isosorbide: High efficient and reusable solid acid catalyst

        Peng Sun,He Huang,Ding Hua Yu,Yi Hu,Zhen Chen Tang,Jiao Jiao Xia,Heng Li 한국화학공학회 2011 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.28 No.1

Tungstophosphoric acids (PW) supported on various metal oxides (SiO_2, γ_Al_2O_3, TiO_2, ZrO_2 and CeO_2)were synthesized and used as catalysts for sorbitol dehydration to isosorbide for the first time. 30% PW/SiO_2 exhibited the best catalytic performance for sorbitol dehydration, over which 56% isosorbide selectivity could be gained at a 95% sorbitol conversion at 250℃. The catalytic performance of regenerated 30% PW/SiO_2 catalysts by dichloromethane elution showed no loss after recycling five runs. Characterizations with UV-Vis, XRD, NH3-TPD and thermal analysis techniques revealed that PW had a good dispersion, and the primary Keggin structure was preserved after supporting PW on different supports. The interaction between PW and oxides resulted in different acidity of catalysts, which affected conversion of sorbitol and selectivity for isosorbide. The final acidity order of supported PW catalysts was the following: SiO_2>γ_Al_2O_3>TiO_2 ≈ZrO_2>CeO_2.

Operational modal analysis of structures by stochastic subspace identification with a delay index

        Dan Li,Wei-Xin Ren,Yi-Ding Hu,Dong Yang 국제구조공학회 2016 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.59 No.1

Practical ambient excitations of engineering structures usually do not comply with the stationary-white-noise assumption in traditional operational modal analysis methods due to heavy traffic, wind guests, and other disturbances. In order to eliminate spurious modes induced by non-white noise inputs, the improved stochastic subspace identification based on a delay index is proposed in this paper for a representative kind of stationary non-white noise ambient excitations, which have nonzero autocorrelation values near the vertical axis. It relaxes the stationary-white-noise assumption of inputs by avoiding corresponding unqualified elements in the Hankel matrix. Details of the improved stochastic subspace identification algorithms and determination of the delay index are discussed. Numerical simulations on a four-story frame and laboratory vibration experiments on a simply supported beam have demonstrated the accuracy and reliability of the proposed method in eliminating spurious modes under non-white noise ambient excitations.

Estrogen weakens muscle endurance via estrogen receptor-p38 MAPK-mediated orosomucoid (ORM) suppression

        Yang Sun,Zhen Qin,Jing-jing Wan,Peng-yuan Wang,Yi-Li Yang,Jian-Guang Yu,Bo-Han Hu,Ding-Feng Su,Zhu-Min Luo,Xia Liu 생화학분자생물학회 2018 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.50 No.-

Gender differences in fatigue manifest as females being more prone to feel exhaustion and having lower muscle endurance. However, the mechanisms of these effects remain unclear. We investigated whether orosomucoid, an endogenous anti-fatigue protein that enhances muscle endurance, is involved in this regulation. Female rats exhibited lower muscle endurance, and this gender difference disappeared in orosomucoid-1-deficient mice. Female rats also exhibited weaker orosomucoid induction in serum, liver and muscle in response to fatigue compared with male rats. Ovariectomy elevated orosomucoid levels and increased swimming time, and estrogen replenishment reversed these effects. Exogenous estrogen treatment in male and female mice produced opposite effects. Estrogen decreased orosomucoid expression and its promoter activity in C2C12 muscle and Chang liver cells in vitro, and estrogen receptor or p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase blockade abolished this effect. Therefore, estrogen negatively regulates orosomucoid expression that is responsible for the weaker muscle endurance in females.
