This study enhanced the electric feld intensity in a crater structure according to the roughness size and metal type. We were able to explore how the electric feld is distributed using a fnite-diference time-domain (FDTD) for three-dimensional crater with various types and sizes of roughness. Based on this calculation, the transmittance, refectance, and absorptance spectra were analysed. Among the various transition metal types and sizes, the strongest local electric feld occurred for an Ag roughness with a size of 60 nm. Furthermore, to analyse the solar spectrum, a blackbody radiation curve based on Planck’s law was applied to an absorptance of 250–2500 nm wavelength according to the background index.

Shigella remains to be the most frequently isolated enteric pathogen in Korea. Most of the recent shigellosis are known to be due to ampicillin - or co-trimoxazole-resistant strains. Rifampicin has been reported effective to cure the infection and to erradicate the organism from intestine. However, there has been no reported studies of rifampicin susceptibility on the recently isolated strains of Shigella in Korea. Poor correlations of a rifampicin disc diffusion test and an agar dilution test were reported. However, most of such studies were done with organisms other than Shigella. This study was conducted to see firstly, if the recent local strains of Shigella were susceptible to rifampicin and secondly if a disc diffusion test would correlated with an agar dilution method in Shgella. The following results were obtained. 1. A total of 193 Shigella strains isolated during 1978-80 were tested. The minimum inhibitory concentraion (MIC) of rifampicin in 175 strains(90.7%) was 16μg/ml or less. In 3 strains (1.6%), it was greater than 128μg/ml. 2. Cross resistance of rifamicin with ampicillin or with co-trimoxazole did not seem to exist. 3. The correlation between a disc diffusion test and an agar dilution test was poor. 4. Highly resistant strains, such as those with MIC of over 128μg/ml showed no inhibitory zone even to a 30μg disc. It is concluded that when rifampicin is used for the treatment of shigellosis one should understand the presence of rifampicin resistant strains. Disc diffusion test could only be used to screen those highly resistant strains.
Cyclotron transition linewidths due to electron-phonon interaction via piezoelectric scattering

A theory of cyclotron transitions in electron-phonon systems is presented with the help of the projection method and applied to obtaining the cyclotron resonance linewidth for the piezoelectric polaron system. The linewidth in the moderate-temperature quantum limit is proportional to the square root of temperature and independent of the magnetic field for 'adiabatic' processes, which is in qualitative agreement with the experiment of Baer et al and with theoretical values of Saitoh et al and Arora. The width for 'non-adiabatic' processes is proportional to the temperature and the inverse square root of the field. The results in the low-temperature regions in the quantum limit agree well with those of Larsen and Choi et al.

斜影演算子를 사용하여 動的磁氣導電에 관한 量子理論을 소개하고 Barker 등의 傳導度 공식과 Lodder-Fujita의 線模樣 공식과 비교했다. A quantum theory of dynamic magnetoconductivity due to eletron-phonon interactions, which is free from Argyres-Sigel's critique, is formulated on the basis of Kubo's formalism and the projection operator method. The lineshape functions for the circularly polarized microwave are given in a closed form and differ from those of Lodder and Fujita.
Spatial distribution of acceptor-related recombination centers in Mg-doped GaN

Inhomogeneous distribution of Mg-related recombination centers were investigated by cathodoluminescence (CL) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Spatially resolved monochromatic CL imaging and spectra measurement revealed that two distinct types of acceptor-related recombination centers were identified and preferentially distributed in different regions. We also found that 3.2eV emission was not fully quenched out even in case of highly Mg doped GaN.
Oxygen plasma effects on the electrical conductance of single-walled carbon nanotube bundles

<P>We report the electrical properties of single-walled carbon nanotube bundles aligned between two electrodes with a gap of 8 µm by the alternating current dielectrophoresis method. The resistance increased exponentially as the number of structural defects increased from the oxygen plasma treatment. However, no noticeable change was observed in the carrier concentration and tube–tube interaction. The resistance dependence on the plasma treatment time was explained on the basis of the localization of electron states at defect sites. The aspects of the defects were examined by measuring the effects of ammonia adsorption on the conductance of the device.</P>
