        Model predictive control of nine-switch converter with output filter for independent control of two loads

        This paper proposes a model predictive control (MPC) algorithm designed for nine-switch converter with output filter (NSCOF) to control two three-phase AC loads independently. A state function of each leg of nine-switch converter (NSC) is established to characterize the internal conditions of the NSC because the traditional model of the NSCOF does not involve the interior model of the NSC. Based on the NSCOF model with the state function of each leg, a prediction model of NSCOF is constructed. The two AC terminals of NSCOF are treated as one module when the MPC is designed. The proposed MPC achieves controlling two three-phase AC loads working under different frequency modes. Furthermore, this algorithm is independent of the modulation method for reducing the difficulty of the controller design and its limits. The simulation and experimental results reveal that the steady-state and dynamic response performance of NSCOF are substantially improved using MPC.

        A Study on Biophilia Applied in Landscape Design of Chinese Old-age Care Community

        인구의 고령화는 이미 중국의 중요한 사회 문제가 되었다. 이러한 고령화 문제를 개선하기 위한 방법으로 중국정부는 의료를 기본으로 요양을 결합한 ‘의양’ 커뮤니티 건설을 제안했다. ‘의양’ 커뮤니티는 도시 경관의 기본 단위로서 조경을 계획하며, 노년층의 안락한 거주성을 제공하며 또한 사회적 관계를 유지할 수 있도록 하는 환경이다. 본 연구는 이를 바탕으로 문학 테이더 방식을 사용하여 중국의 고령화 환경, 중국의 현재 양로 커뮤니티의 조경 디자인, 고령자의 정신 건강을 분석하였다. 그 결과 현행 양로 커뮤니티는 경관과 정신 건강 사이의 긍정적인 효과를 간과하고 있음을 발견했다. 이를 바이오필리아 관점으로 경관의 긍정적 효과를 결합시켜 ‘의양 결합’ 커뮤니티의 조경 디자인 개념을 도출하였다. 미래 ‘의양 결합’ 커뮤니티의 조경 디자인을 논의하고 ‘의양 결합’ 커뮤니티의 경관 환경에서 인간과 자연 사이의 긍정적인 관계를 구성한 설계 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 본 논문의 목적은 ‘의양 결합’ 커뮤니티가 노인의 정신 건강에 긍정적인 영향을 줘 생활환경의 질을 향상시킬 수 있는 경관 디자인을 제안하는 것이다. The aging of the population has become an important social issue in China. In order to improve the growing aging problem, China has proposed to construct a community with the combination of medical and health care, which is based on the medical treatment with recuperation as the core to solve social problems. As the basic unit of urban landscape, the community landscape can not only provide the space and place for the elderly, but also meet the psychological and social needs of the elderly. On this background, through the data study, analyze the China’s aging environment, the landscape design of Medical and Health Care Community, and the Psychological Status of Elderly. It is found that there is less research on the positive effects between landscape and mental health in the old-age care community in China. Therefore, this paper makes a summary of the concept of biophilia landscape design in medical and health care community through the positive effects of the natural landscape of biophilia hypothesis. What’s more, it discusses the landscape design of the medical and health care community in the future, and puts forward the design methods for reconstructing the positive relation between man and nature in the landscape environment of such a community. This paper aims to make the landscape environment of the medical and health care community in the future play a positive role in the mental health of the elderly people, so that the mental health of the aged will be effectively improved and the quality of their living space will be enhanced.

        Characteristics and Validation of a Recommended Fertilization Approach for Lychee Based on Yield Response and Agronomic Efficiency

        Lychee is one of the most popular tropical fruits in South China. However, excess fertilizer application is reducing soil productivity and lychee production. Little information is available to develop a rational and feasible recommended fertilization approach for lychee. This study aimed to optimize fertilizer management for lychee production with a nutrient recommendation model that simplifies complex principles of fertilization into a user-friendly “nutrient expert (NE)” system. Analyses of extensive database for lychee revealed that the average yield responses (YRs) of lychee to nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) were 4.2 t ha-1, 3.0 t ha-1, and 4.3 t ha-1, respectively. The average relative yields (RYs) of lychee for N, P, and K were 0.73, 0.80, and 0.77, respectively. The mean values of soil indigenous nutrient supply for N, P, and K were 52.4 kg ha-1, 5.7 kg ha-1, and 44.2 kg ha-1, respectively. The average agronomic efficiencies (AEs) were 15.8 kg N kg-1, 62.8 kg P kg-1, and 18.2 kg K kg-1, respectively. The YR and AE of N, P and K were well fitted by quadratic equations. Significant negative exponential correlations were detected between the YR and the indigenous nutrient supply. A significant negative linear correlation was detected between YR and RY in lychee production. In validation experiments, the NE approach outperformed farmers’ practices in terms of yield, output-input ratio, the net return, and N use efficiency. The NE system is a feasible approach to making fertilization recommendations for small-scale lychee farmers without the need for testing.

        Structure and Properties of Konjac Glucomannan/Galactoglucomannan Nanofiber Membrane

        Konjac glucomannan (KGM)/galactoglucomannan (GGM) nanofiber membranes were obtained through electrospinning technology. Rheological properties of KGM/GGM solutions were observed by using a rotary rheometer. The apparent morphological, characteristic group and thermal stability of nanofiber membranes were studied through scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectoscopy (FTIR) and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) respectively. The physical and mechanical properties were also evaluated. Results revealed that the addition of GGM did not significantly affect the rheological properties of electrospinning solution. Increase in the amount of GGM in the nanofiber membrane resulted in gradual smoothening, uniformity and decrease in the number of nodes. KGM interacts with GGM through hydrogen-bond. Addition of GGM markedly enhanced the thermal stability, physical and mechanical properties of the nanofiber membrane. The study showed that the KGM/GGM nanofiber membrane have good potential for use in developing membrane based materials.

        MiR-183-5p Promotes Proliferation, Metastasis and Angiogenesis in Breast Cancer Cells through Negatively Regulating Four and a Half LIM Protein 1

        Purpose: Four and a half LIM protein 1 (FHL1) is involved in breast cancer (BC) development, but the regulatory mechanism involved remain unclear. In the present study, we examined the role of FHL1 in BC development. Methods: The expression of FHL1, miR-183-5p, and miR-96-5p in BC tissues was analyzed using StarBase analysis. FHL1 expression in BC tissues, a normal human breast epithelial cell line, and BC cell lines was detected using quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The relationship between FHL1 and miR-183-5p/miR-96-5p was analyzed via Pearson's rank correlation, TargetScan, and a dual-luciferase reporter assay. BT549 and MDA-MB-231 cells were transfected with either FHL1 and miR-183-5p mimics, or siFHL1 and a miR-183-5p inhibitor, respectively. The viability, colony number, migration, invasion, and tube length of BT549 and MDA-MB-231 cells were examined using cell counting kit-8, colony formation, wound-healing, Transwell, and tube formation assays, respectively. The levels of FHL1, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), p53, E-cadherin, N-cadherin, and vimentin were quantified using western blotting and qRT-PCR. Results: FHL1 expression was downregulated in BC tissues and cells, whereas miR-183-5p and miR-96-5p were upregulated in BC tissues (negative correlation with FHL1 expression). FHL1 overexpression inhibited the viability, colony number, migration, and invasion of BC cells and the expression of VEGF, N-cadherin, and vimentin, and increased the expression of FHL1, p53, and E-cadherin in BT549 cells. Furthermore, a miR-183-5p mimic reversed these effects of FHL1 overexpression, whereas FHL1 silencing caused opposite results to those observed in MDA-MB-231 cells; however, this was reversed by a miR-183-5p inhibitor. Conclusion: Our study suggests that miR-183-5p promotes cell proliferation, metastasis, and angiogenesis by negatively regulating FHL1 in BC.

        Influence of boreal summer intraseasonal oscillation on rainfall extremes in southern China

        <P><B>ABSTRACT</B></P><P>How boreal summer intraseasonal oscillation (BSISO) modulates the probability and spatial distributions of extreme rainfall occurrence over populous southern China was examined, using the newly proposed BSISO indices and two high‐resolution rain‐gauge‐based rainfall datasets in China. The probability density function of May–August rainfall in southern China is skewed towards large values in phases 2–4 of the first component and in phases 5–7 of the second component of BSISO life cycle, during which the probability of extreme rainfall events at the 75th (90th) percentile increases by 30–50% (over 60%) relative to the non‐BSISO period. The devastating floods with prolonged extreme rainfall in southern China over the three past decades occurred coincidently with these BSISO phases. The first component of BSISO, associated with 30–60‐day eastward/northeastward‐propagating ISO, is more favourable for the rainfall extreme over in‐land China. In contrast, the second component of BSISO, related to the 10–30‐day northwestward propagating ISO, tends to link with the rainfall extreme along the southeast coast of South China. Moisture budget indicates that the favourable environment for rainfall extreme is associated with southwesterly moisture convergence over southern China, while the moisture advection contributes insignificantly. This study suggests a potential for monitoring and probabilistic prediction of extreme rainfall events in southern China based on the real‐time BSISO indices.</P>

        Hierarchical Genetic Algorithm based RBF Neural Networks and Application for Modelling of the Automatic Depth Control Electrohydraulic System

        The paper presents an approach to model nonlinear dynamic behaviors of the Automatic Depth Control Electrohydraulic System (ADCES) of a certain minesweeping weapon with Radial Basis Function (RBF) neural networks trained by hierarchical genetic algorithm. In the proposed hierarchical genetic algorithm, the control genes are used to determine the number of hidden units, and the parameter genes are used to identify center parameters of hidden units. In order to speed up conver-gence of the proposed algorithm, width and weight parameters of RBF neural network are calculated by linear algebra methods. The proposed approach is applied to the modelling of the ADCES, and ex-perimental results clearly indicate that the obtained RBF neural network can emulate complex dynamic characteristics of the ADCES satisfactorily. The comparison results also show that the proposed approach performs better than the traditional clustering-based method.
