The Relief Effects of Ramelteon on Refractory Chronic Migraine: A Case Report
Yi-Cheng Hou1,Chien-Han Lai 대한정신약물학회 2016 CLINICAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY AND NEUROSCIENCE Vol.14 No.4
The selective melatonin receptor agonism effect of ramelteon is useful for insomnia. Here we wanted to present a refractory chronic migraine case, who had significant improvements in migraine after using ramelteon. The possible mechanism for the ramelteon in the migraine relief might be related to melatonin effects.

<P>The installation of heterojunctions on the surfaces of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is an effective method for promoting the charge separation processes needed for CNT-based electronics and optoelectronics applications. Conjugated polymers are proven state-of-the-art candidates for modifying the surfaces of CNTs. However, all previous attempts to incorporate conjugated polymers to CNTs resulted in unordered interfaces. Herein we show that well-defined chains of regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) were successfully grown from the surfaces of multiwalled CNTs (MWNTs) using surface-initiated Kumada catalyst-transfer polycondensation. The polymerization was found to proceed in a controlled manner as chains of tunable lengths were prepared through variation of the initial monomer-to-initiator ratio. Moreover, it was determined that large-diameter MWNTs afforded highly ordered P3HT aggregates, which exhibited a markedly bathochromically shifted optical absorption due to a high grafting density induced planarization of the polymer chains. Using ultrafast spectroscopy, the heterojunctions formed between the MWNTs and P3HT were shown to effectively overcome the binding energy of excitons, leading to photoinduced electron transfer from P3HT to MWNTs. Finally, when used as prototype devices, the individual MWNT-g-P3HT core-shell structures exhibited excellent photoresponses under a low illumination density.</P>
Computer vision-based displacement measurement with m-sequence target
Yi-Ding Hu,Qi Xia,Rong-rong Hou,Yong Xia,Jian-yi Yan 국제구조공학회 2021 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.27 No.3
The development of image sensors enables the application of vision-based techniques to the non-contact displacement measurement of large-scale structures. The features of the physical targets are critical to the accuracy, stability and anti-interference of the displacement measurement results. In this study, a novel m-sequence target and the associated circular correlation processing technique are developed for real-time displacement measurement. The properties of the m-sequence as a pseudo-random sequence are introduced. The vision-based displacement calculation method is then derived from the correlation property of the m-sequence. The algorithms and measurement systems are integrated in the LabVIEW environment. To verify the anti-interference performance of the developed system, static and dynamic experimental tests are carried out with various forms of interference, such as partial occlusion, uneven illumination, out of focus and smoke effect. Experimental results indicate that the developed system cannot only accurately measure structural displacement, but also has outstanding antiinterference performance, even if 30% of the target is masked.
Late-onset Quetiapine-related Tardive Dyskinesia Side Effects in a Patient with Psychotic Depression
Yi-Cheng Hou,Chien-Han Lai 대한정신약물학회 2014 CLINICAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY AND NEUROSCIENCE Vol.12 No.2
The atypical antipsychotics were believed to induce less extrapyramidal syndrome, including tardive dyskinesia (TD). Since theintroduction of the quetiapine, it is also reported with less TD side effects. It even can relieve the symptoms of severe TD andreduce the risk of TD. The quetiapine’s low affinity and fast dissociation from postsynaptic dopamine D2 receptors should givethe least risk of producing the symptoms of TD. The quetiapine even can reduce the TD side effects related to clozapine, whichhas the lowest risk for TD. However, since the first case report of TD side effects related to quetiapine published on 1999,the safety of quetiapine in TD aspect has been questioned. Therefore, we want to share this case report, which was writtento describe the severe late-onset TD side effects after long-term use of quetiapine in a patient with psychotic depression. Thepatient had no significant findings after concurrent comprehensive neurological examinations, magnetic resonance imaging ofbrain and electroencephalogram since the onset of TD.

The impacts from the bupropion on the brain structures have seldom been mentioned in the literature. The bupropion is a kind of antidepressant with dual action in the norepinephrine and dopamine receptors. Here we have a case to share about the bupropion-related effects in the brain structure.
Multiple-copy-gene integration on chromosome of Escherichia coli for beta-galactosidase production
Shao-Yi Hou,Hsing-Ta Chen,Ming-Shu Lin 한국화학공학회 2008 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.25 No.5
Recombinant E. coli strains with 1-3 copies of lacZ genes on their chromosomes were constructed and their β-galactosidase (β-gal) expressions were examined. Serial dilution cultures were used to analyze the long-term genetic stability of the recombinant lacZ genes of the chromosomal or plasmid expression system. The strain with a 3-copy lacZ on the chromosome has a sustainable β-gal expression through 60 hours. However, the β-gal activity of the plasmid expression system lasted less than 36 hours under a no selection condition. Obviously, the genetic stability of the chromosomal expression system demonstrated in this study is better than that of the plasmid expression system under nonselective condition, such as a medium without antibiotics. The results demonstrated that the strains with a multiple-copy-gene on the chromosome are useful for protein production in industrial repeated fed-batch fermentation.
Multilevel LDPC Codes Design for Multimedia Communication CDMA System
Hou, Jia,Yi, Yu,Lee, Moon Ho Hindawi Publishing Corporation 2004 Eurasip Journal on Wireless Communications and Net Vol.2004 No.-
<P>We design multilevel coding (MLC) with a semi-bit interleaved coded modulation (BICM) scheme based on low density parity check (LDPC) codes. Different from the traditional designs, we joined the MLC and BICM together by using the Gray mapping, which is suitable to transmit the data over several equivalent channels with different code rates. To perform well at signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) to be very close to the capacity of the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel, random regular LDPC code and a simple semialgebra LDPC (SA-LDPC) code are discussed in MLC with parallel independent decoding (PID). The numerical results demonstrate that the proposed scheme could achieve both power and bandwidth efficiency.</P>

Semi-dwarfism is an agronomically important trait in breeding for resistance to damage by wind and rain (lodging resistance)and for stable high yields. Dwarf Polish wheat (Triticum polonicum L., 2n = 4x = 28, AABB AS304) is a potential donor of dwarfing and other traits for common wheat improvement. A genetic analysis using an F2 population derived from a cross of AS304 and tall cultivar AS302 and derived F2:3 lines indicated that AS304 carries a recessive dwarfing gene, temporarily designated Rht-dp. Molecular markers and bulked segregant analysis were used to characterize and map the gene. Eight polymorphic SSR markers (Xwmc511, Xgwm495, Xgwm 113, Xgwm192, Xgpw7026, Xgpw3017, Xgpw1108 and Xgpw7521) on chromosome arm 4BS and two AFLP markers (M8/E5 and M4/E3) were mapped relative to the dwarfing locus. The closest linked markers, Xgpw3017 and M8/E5 at 0.5 and 3.5 cM, respectively, from Rht-dp will enable its marker assisted transfer to wheat breeding populations. Allelic tests indicated that Rht-dp was allelic to Rht-B1b; hence it may be an alternative allele at the Rht-B1 locus.

The aim of this study was to investigate the role of kinesin superfamily member 15 (KIF15) in nasopharyngeal carcinogenesis (NPC) and explore its underlying mechanisms. We employed various assays, including the CCK-8 assay, flow cytometry, the Transwell and scratch assay, Western blotting, and nude mice transplantation tumor, to investigate the impact of KIF15 on NPC. Our findings demonstrate that KIF15 plays a critical role in the proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion of NPC cells. Furthermore, we discovered that silencing KIF15 inhibits cell proliferation, migration, and invasion while promoting apoptosis, and that KIF15's effect on NPC cell growth is mediated through the PI3K/AKT and P53 signaling pathways. Additionally, we showed that KIF15 promotes nasopharyngeal cancer cell growth in vivo. Our study sheds light on the significance of KIF15 in NPC by revealing that KIF15 knockdown inhibits NPC cell growth through the regulation of AKT-related signaling pathways. These findings suggest that KIF15 represents a promising therapeutic target for the prevention and treatment of NPC. INTRODUCTION Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), a malignant epithelial tumor, typically arises in the top and lateral walls of the nasopharyngeal cavity and can invade surrounding tissues. It is a prevalent malignancy in China and exhibits a geographically uneven distribution [1]. Specifically, 92% of new cases occur in economically less developed countries, with at least twice as many new cases occurring in East or Southeast Asia [2]. The World Health Organization
