A Genetic Analysis of the Common Squid, Todarodes pacificus in the Korean Waters

In order to estimate the genetic variability and differentiation in common squid, eleven isozymic loci, coded for nine enzymes detected by starch gel electrophoresis, were scored from nine spawning cohorts in four localities.The expected average heterozygosity ranged from 0.00019 (between Il-S2 and Na-W) to 0.00814 (Between Bu-S and Na-W) in nine different spawning cohorts in four localities.A dendrogram, based on genetic distance mentioned, illustrated that nine different spawning cohorts were divided into three groups, similar to the result estimated by their ecological characterizations. From these results, we estimate that the common squid distributed throughout Korean waters will maintain this gene exchange. It is postulated that either the summer or the autumn spawning cohort has developed a local population that is isolated by hydrographic factors.

<P>Three species of the unrecorded octopus and squids, Octopus megalops, Berryteuthis magister and Gonatopsis makko were collected for the first time from the East/Japan Sea in June, 2005. New Korean names proposed for these three species are 'Big-eye octopus, Mako gonate squid, Schoolmater gonate squid' for the O. megalops, B. magister and G. makko, respectively. We report detailed taxonomic descriptions of these species.</P>

This study aimed to reveal the dimension of employment barrier and the effect of the employment barrier and social support, as a correspondence variable of employment barrier, to career decision-making self-efficacy and employment preparation behaviors. Through on&offline survey of MICE job seekers, 241 valid responses were collected. The result of analysis showed that lack of employment information and low self-understanding have negative effects on career decision-making self-efficacy and low self-understanding, and low competences for employment have negative effects on employment preparation behavior. The study also proved that only emotional support and appraisal support among the social supports have positive effects on career decision-making self-efficacy and employment preparation behavior. In addition, this research affirmed the results of previous studies by confirming the positive relation between career decision-making self-efficacy and employment preparation behavior. Based on the results, this study presents academic and practical implications for improving MICE job market. These will contribute to lower the perceived level of employment barriers by job seekers who are looking for the entry into the MICE field, and enhance their employment preparation behavior as well. The findings of this paper also could provide empirical basement for policy formation.
한국 제주도 주변해역에 서식하는 갈치(Trichiurus japonicus)의 산란 생태

The reproductive biology of largehead hairtail Trichiurus japonicus, from near Jeju Island, Korea was investigated based on 4,384 individuals collected by commercial vessel from November 2016 to October 2019. There were more female specimens than male specimens (2.64:1). T. japonicus preanal lengths (PL) ranged from 10.5 to 53.5 cm; the relationships between PL and body weight (BW) were BW=0.0103PL3.1293 for females and BW=0.0106PL3.1251 for males. Monthly changes in gonadosomatic index were analyzed to estimate spawning season. The spawning period ranged from June to November. The size-frequency distribution of eggs suggested that T. japonicus exhibits multiple-spawning during a spawning period. The minimum size of females at maturity was 18.2 cm, while the size at sexual maturity was 25.0 cm.

We investigated the biological maturation of blackthroat seaperch Doederleinia berycoides in southern Korea waters, based on samples collected from March 2018 to February 2019. We analyzed monthly changes in maturity stage, gonadosomatic index (GSI) and total length (TL) at 50%, 75% and 97.5% group maturity. The spawning period was May to October in 2018. We estimated the TL at 50% group maturity as 27.0 cm for females in 2018. We estimated the TL of females at 75% and 97.5% group maturity as 28.7 cm and 32.7 cm, respectively, in 2018.
