Assessing the condition of the alveolar bone before and after orthodontic treatment is important. Recently, cone-beam computed tomography has been widely accepted as a useful tool for orthodontic treatment. Moreover, using a three-dimensional (3D) structural analysis software enables gathering detailed information and quantifying data. The aim of this study was to introduce various quantitative analyses performed before and after orthodontic treatment by using a 3D structural analysis software for evaluating the morphological condition of the alveolar bone of a patient with gingival recession around the canines.
Spectroscopic Characterization of Impact of Alcoholic Intake on Diversity of Blood-Pulse Waveform

We spectroscopically investigate the impact of alcohol on blood-pulse waveform and confirm that alcohol intake can be discerned by various sensors. This paper focuses on specific spectra and demonstrates the importance of observing the harmonics ratio of the blood-pulse waveform. An analysis of the temporal evolution of the harmonic ratio shows that it includes important information that allows the intake of alcohol to be discerned.

Objective: To three-dimensionally elucidate the effects of occlusal hypofunction on the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone proper of rat molars by micro-computed tomography (micro-CT). Methods: Occlusal function in the molar area was restricted by attaching an anterior bite plate on the maxillary incisors and a metal cap on the mandibular incisors of 5-week-old male Wistar rats for 1 week. The periodontal ligament space and alveolar bone proper around roots of the mandibular first molar were assessed by histology and micro-CT. Results: The periodontal ligament space was narrower and the alveolar bone proper was sparser and less continuous in the hypofunction group than in the control group. Further, both the volume of the periodontal ligament and the volumetric ratio of the alveolar bone proper to the total tissue in the region of interest were significantly lower in the hypofunction group (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Occlusal hypofunction induces atrophic changes in the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone proper of rat molars.
Frictional Behavior ofr-Irradiated MoS₂Coating Film at Cryogenic Temperatures

Frictional problems in superconducting magnets are related to the stability and reliability of the magnets, because frictional heating causes quench of the manger and the frictional resistance determines the limit of the shear force at the contacting sufaces. In addition to these problems, magnet structural materials are exposed with neutron and γ-ray in Deutrium- Tritum type fusion reactor, so that it is required to investigate the frictional behavior for irradiated magnet structural materials at cryogenic temperatures. In this study, we investigated the influence of γ-irradiated MoS2 coating film and GFRP AT 4.2 K 77K AND 293 K under fretting conditions.
Magnetic Frustration Effects in the New Colossal Magnetoresistance Oxide NaCr2O4
Hikaru Takeda,Yasuhiro Shimizu,Masayuki Itoh,Hiroya Sakurai,Eiji Takayama-Muromachi 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.62 No.12
We have investigated the magnetic properties of the new colossal magnetoresistance oxideNaCr2O4 with the calcium-ferrite-type structure by using 23Na, 53Cr nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) and magnetization measurements. This chromate is found to show an antiferromagneticorder with the spin moments slightly canted from the b axis at temperatures below TN=125 K. The spin structure may be governed by the competition between double-exchange ferromagneticand superexchange antiferromagnetic interactions in the double chains. The origin of the largemagnetoresistance is discussed for several scenarios such as phase separation, rearrangement of thespin structure induced by the magnetic field, and domain walls.

Herein is reported our experience of radiation therapy using a real-time tumor-tracking and gated radiotherapy (RTRT) system for inoperable pancreatic cancer. Three unresectable pancreatic cancer patients were treated with intraoperative electron beam radiation therapy, at the time of open biopsy, and postoperative external beam radiation therapy using an RTRT system with a 2.0mm diameter gold ball implanted into the pancreas. The total BED'sα/β=10 was intended to be equivalent to that of delivering 60 Gy by 2.0Gy/fraction, while the actual dose schedules were individualized. The movement of the pancreas was analyzed based on the 3-dimensional marker positions during the RTRT. The side effects and tumor responses were evaluated. During the RTRT course, the average movement of markers in the x (left to right), y (cranial to caudal) and z (dorsal to ventral) directions were 3.0mm (1.7-5.2mm), 5.2mm (3.5-6.8mm) and 3.5mm (2.7-5.1 mm), respectively. During and after the course of postoperative radiation therapy, no acute side effects of RTOG grade II or higher were detected. The objective tumor responses, as evaluated by CT scans 3 months after the treatment, were 2 partial responses and no response in one patient. Using the RTRT technique the margin of treatment planning and the possible errors in target localization were reduced, and the 3-dimensional movement of the internal marker implanted in the pancreas was able to be analyzed.
스크린 인쇄법에 의한 YBa2Cu3O7-x/ Ag 고온산화물초전도 후막의 제작

Superconduction YBa₂Cu₃0_(7-x)./Ag composite thick films on a YSZ substrate were prepared by the screen printing method. Microstructure and supercduction properties such as zero-resistance Tc(Tc^(Zero)), Jc at 77k, and the interface reactions betwean the superconduction thick film and YSZ substrate were investigated. For the YBa₂Cu₃O_(7-x)/Ag composite thick films annealed at 980℃ and 1000℃ in flowing oxygen, Tc^(Zero) and Jc at 77k increased, and the normal state resistivity and the thickness of interface reaction layer decreased strongly with increasing Ag content. The drastic decrease in reaction layer thickness with Ag addition seemed to result from the prevention of interaction between the film and the substrate by liquid Ag which formed during high temperature annealing. SEM analysis showed that the grain size increased as Ag content increased from 7wt% to 24wt%. It seems that the liquid Ag in YBa₂Cu₃O_(7-x)/Ag composite thick films enhances the intergranular coupling of YBa₂Cu_O_(7-x)/Ag grains, which results in the favored sintering process at 980℃.

Background: Malignant afferent loop syndrome occurs after biliary reconstruction and is difficult to treat because of the complicated anatomical changes. The aim of this study was to investigate the safety and efficacy of percutaneous metallic stent placement for malignant afferent loop syndrome via the blind end of the jejunal limb after biliary reconstruction. Methods: Percutaneous metallic stent placement via the jejunal limb was performed in five male patients (median age, 68 years; range, 51–88 years) with malignant afferent loop syndrome following pancreatoduodenectomy or bile duct resection with reconstruction at our institute from June 2009 to April 2019. Reconstruction was performed using a modified Child’s method or the Roux-en-Y method, and blind end of the jejunal limb was surgically fixed to the abdominal wall. Percutaneous drainage of the afferent loop was performed via the blind end of the jejunal limb. Subsequently, percutaneous metallic stent placement was performed via the same route. Technical success, clinical success, and complications were retrospectively evaluated. Results: Percutaneous metallic stent placement via the blind end of the jejunal limb was successfully achieved in all six procedures. Additional metallic stent placement was performed due to tumor ingrowth in a patient. Drainage catheters were removed from three patients, clamped in one, and could not be removed in one. Clinical success was achieved in four patients (80%) without major complications. Conclusion: Percutaneous metallic stent placement for malignant afferent loop syndrome via the blind end of the jejunal limb after biliary reconstruction could be a safe and effective procedure.
