Background: The prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2 (PTGS2) and phospholipase A2 group IIA (PLA2G2A) genes encode enzymes that are involved in arachidonic acid and prostaglandin biosynthesis. Dysregulation of both genes is associated with inflammation and carcinogenesis, including esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). We therefore hypothesized that there is an association between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in these genes and susceptibility to ESCC. Methods: We performed a gene-wide tag SNP-based association study to examine the association of SNPs in PTGS2 and PLA2G2A with ESCC in 269 patients and 269 healthy controls from Taihangshan Mountain, Henan and Hebei Provinces, the rural area of China which has the highest incidence of esophageal cancer in the world. Thirteen tag SNPs in PLA2G2A and 4 functional SNPs in PTGS2 were selected and genotyped using a high-throughput Mass Array genotyping platform. Results: We found a modest increased risk of ESCC in subjects with the PTGS2 rs12042763 AA genotype (OR=1.23; 95% CI, 1.00-3.04) compared with genotype GG. For PLA2G2A, a decreased risk of ESCC was observed in subjects with the rs11677 CT (OR=0.51, 95%CI, 0.29-0.85) or TT genotype (OR=0.51, 95%CI, 0.17-0.96) or the T carriers (CT+TT) (OR=0.52, 95%CI, 0.31-0.85) when compared with the CC genotype. Also for PLA2G2A, rs2236771 C allele carriers were more frequent in the control group (P=0.02). Subjects with the GC (OR=0.55, 95%CI, 0.33-0.93) or CC genotype (OR=0.38, 95% CI, 0.16-0.94) or the C carriers (GC+CC) (OR=0.52, 95%CI, 0.32-0.85) showed a negative association with ESCC susceptibility. Conclusions: Our results suggest that PTGS2 and PLA2G2A gene polymorphisms may modify the risk of ESCC development.

For achieving the minimum energy consumption in electrolytic copper process, this paper proposes a power supply optimization strategy based on the improved BP neural network for high-power electrolytic copper rectifying units to eff ectively improve the utilization rate of electric energy, reduce the production cost, and achieve high effi ciency and energy saving. Aiming to operation scenarios including normal operation of rectifi ers, fault of random one rectifi er, fault of random two rectifi ers and number change of electrolytic tanks, the output current of each rectifi er, transformer gears and control angle of thyristor are obtained under these four scenarios by the proposed power supply strategy. The simulation results indicate that compared with BP neural network and PSO optimizing BP(PSO-BP)neural network, the prediction error of power supply strategy of GA optimizing BP (GA-BP) neural network is the minimum. Consequently, the optimal control of the output current of each rectifi er is obtained by using GA-BP neural network, and the stabilized current precision of total output current can be kept at 0.003–0.005, which verifi es the eff ectivity and feasibility of the proposed power supply optimization strategy, which provides valuable guidance and reference for the future design of high-power power supply system in electrolytic copper or other electrolytic metals.

Mou-Ze Liu,Hai-Yan He,Jian-Quan Luo,Fa-Zhong He,Zhang-Ren Chen,Yi-Ping Liu,Da-Xiong Xiang,Hong-Hao Zhou,Wei Zhang 대한약학회 2018 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.41 No.7
Drug-induced diabetes is widely reported inclinical conditions, and it is becoming a global issuebecause of its potential to increase the risk of severe cardiovascularcomplications. However, which drug mechanismsexert their diabetogenic effects and why the effectspresent significant inter-individual differences remain largelyunknown. Pharmacogenomics, which is the study ofhow genomic variation influences drug responses, providesan explanation for individual differences in drug-induceddiabetes. We highlight that pharmacogenomics can beinvolved in regulating the expression of genes in signalingpathways related to the pharmacokinetics or pharmacodynamicsof drugs or the pathogenesis of diabetes, contributingto the differences in drug-induced glucoseimpairment. The pharmacogenomics studies of the majordiabetogenic drugs are reviewed, including calcineurininhibitors, antipsychotics, hormones, and antihypertensivedrugs. We intend to elucidate the genetic basis of druginduceddiabetes and pave the way for the precise use ofthese drugs in the clinic.

A new combustion system applied in the 135-type diesel engine - TR(Three-Rapidity), was modified from deep cave ω combustion chamber with an oriented arc in the middle of chamber wall, and perfectly fit in a nozzle with orifices in conic section plus orifice in the center. In this paper, three-dimensional numerical simulation was completed and compared on TR combustion system and original 135 diesel engine combustion system. The results show that in TR combustion system, fuel ignition location is near TDC, and premix combustion proportion increases. The oriented arc, contracted cave and centric spray contribute to enhancing air flow, making more reasonable fuel distribution and formatting more homogeneous mixture. The usage of air in chamber is effectively increased and heat loss from the chamber wall is obviously decreased. The cold start performance of the engine is improved also. A performance test on TR combustion system was made on a 135-type diesel engine. The results demonstrate that TR has better exhaust smoke than original engine. At the low and part load, NOX emission of TR combustion system is less than original diesel, but more at high load conditions, which could be solved by delaying fuel spray timing. TR combustion has much potential to improve emission with less structure changed of original engine, so it has large foreground.

In the present study, the physicochemical characteristics, conformational states and antitumor activities of a novel porphyran extracted from the high‐yield algal strain <I>Pyropia yezoensis</I> Chonsoo2 and its two degraded derivatives by gamma irradiation were investigated.</P><P><B>RESULTS</B></P><P><I>Pyropia yezoensis</I> porphyran is a water‐soluble, triple‐helical sulfated hetero‐galactopyranose, named PYP. PYP was degraded by gamma irradiation at 20 kGy and 50 kGy, giving two low molecular weight derivatives comprising PYP‐20 and PYP‐50, respectively. PYP with a higher molecular weight has a solution conformation different from PYP‐20 and PYP‐50. Three porphyrans had no toxicity in normal human liver cells (HL‐7702) and showed antitumor effects on Hep3B, HeLa and MDA‐MB‐231. They had better antitumor against HeLa cells, exhibiting a similar inhibition ratio compared to 5‐fluorouracil, with PYP especially exhibiting a higher inhibition ratio than 5‐fluorouracil. With respect to HeLa cells, the different antitumor activities might be related to porphyran molecular weight and solution conformation. Furthermore, the HeLa cell cycle was blocked in the G2/M phase after PYP treatment, leading to cell proliferation inhibition. The induction of cell cycle arrest was related to the changes in the expression of p21, p53, Cyclin B1 and cyclin‐dependent kinase 1.</P><P><B>CONCLUSION</B></P><P><I>Pyropia yezoensis</I> porphyran, as applied to medicine and functional food, could potentially be used as a non‐toxic natural adjuvant in cancer therapy. © 2019 Society of Chemical Industry</P>
Zeolite-catalyzed Isomerization of 1-Hexene to trans-2-Hexene: An ONIOM Study

Details of the double-bond isomerization of 1-hexene over H-ZSM-5 were clarified using density functional theory. It is found that the reaction proceeds by a mechanism which involves the Brønsted acid part of the zeolite solely. According to this mechanism, 1-hexene is first physically adsorbed on the acidic site, and then, the acidic proton transfers to one carbon atom of the double bond, while the other carbon atom of the double bond bonds with the Brønsted host oxygen, yielding a stable alkoxy intermediate. Thereafter, the Brønsted host oxygen abstracts a hydrogen atom from the C_6H_13 fragment and the C.O bond is broken, restoring the acidic site and yielding trans-2-hexene. The calculated activation barrier is 12.65 kcal/mol, which is in good agreement with the experimental value. These results well explain the energetic aspects during the course of double-bond isomerization and extend the understanding of the nature of the zeolite active sites.

Waste glass is a global solid waste with huge reserves. The discarded waste glass has caused a series of problems such as resource waste and environmental pollution, so it is urgent to recycle waste glass with high replacement level. Glass powder (GP), as a supplementary cementitious material (SCM), used in cement-based materials has already become one of the important ways to recycle waste glass mainly attributed to its pozzolanic reaction and filling effect, especially to the suppressed ASR expansion. This paper demonstrates an overview of the properties of GP and its effect on the fresh and mechanical properties of cement-based materials. The study found that the influence of GP on the performance of cement-based materials mainly depends on its content, particle size, color and type, curing conditions, and other SCMs. Finally, based on the problems involved in the investigation of concrete containing GP, some corresponding suggestions and efforts are given to further guide the utilization of GP in cement-based materials.

Two-phase flow, especially gas-liquid two-phase flow, has a wide application in industrial field. The diagnosis of two-phase flow parameters, which directly determine the flow and heat transfer characteristics, plays an important role in providing the design reference and ensuring the security of online operation of two-phase flow system. Computer tomography (CT) is a good way to diagnose such parameters with imaging method. This paper has proposed a novel image reconstruction method for thermal neutron CT of two-phase flow with improved simulated annealing (ISA) algorithm, which makes full use of the prior information of two-phase flow and the advantage of stochastic searching algorithm. The reconstruction results demonstrate that its reconstruction accuracy is much higher than that of the reconstruction algorithm based on weighted total difference minimization with soft-threshold filtering (WTDM-STF). The proposed method can also be applied to other types of two-phase flow CT modalities (such as X(𝛄)-ray, capacitance, resistance and ultrasound).
