      • Study and Application of Evaluation Hierarchy on Power Supply Capability of Distribution Network

        Cui, Yan-Yan,Wei, Tao,Chen, Hai,Li, Zhi-Yong 대한전기학회 2012 The Journal of International Council on Electrical Vol.2 No.4

Against the lack of quantitative assessment method on power supply capability of distribution network, evaluation hierarchy on power supply capability of distribution network is proposed. In addition to some common indices, the hierarchy includes some new indices such as "load balancing degree of main transformers, substations and lines", "coordination of power supply between high and medium voltage network", "matching degree of power supply and transmission capability" etc. Besides that, evaluation process is put forward. In accordance with urban and rural areas, the respective adaptive scoring standards and weight values are given. The power supply capabilities of distribution network of two districts in Chongqing, China are evaluated based on the hierarchy proposed in this paper. The example proves that the method and evaluation hierarchy can not only evaluate the power supply of distribution network scientifically, find the weak link, but also guide the planning and construction of network.

      • The Influence of VR Tourism’s Perceived Benefits on Value Experience and Intention to Visit: The Moderation Effect of Involvement

Zhe Cui(Zhe Cui),Yan Zhou(Yan Zhou),Yeong-Gug Kim(Yeong-Gug Kim) The International Academy of Global Business and T 2023 The International Academy of Global Business and T Vol.19 No.2

Purpose - The current study focuses on the effects of different degrees of attention to information provided by VR tourism. The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of VR tourism on potential tourists’ intention to visit, and provided an analysis of how information about a tourist destination moderates VR users’ perceived value and intention to visit. Design/Methodology/Approach - The study uses the SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 26.0 statistical packages to analyze a sample of 328 respondents are analyzed using structural equation modeling. Findings - The results suggest that usefulness, ease of use, enjoyment, interactions among the perceived benefits of VR tourism has a positive effect on perceived value except for Presence. Perceived value is positively correlated with intention to visit intention. Perception of value experience has a significant positive impact on the intention to visit a tourist destination. However, while the overall intention to visit is higher with high involvement, increasing experience with tourism has little influence on the intention to visit. Research Implications - The study found that the perceived value of the VR experience has a direct and significant positive impact on the intention to visit, such that a good perception of value in the experience is a driving factor in users’ visit a tourism destination. The implications of this study for future research are discussed.

      • Radiosensitivity Enhancement by Arsenic Trioxide in Conjunction with Hyperthermia in the EC-1 Esophageal Carcinoma Cell Line

        Cui, Yan-Hui,Liang, Hai-Jun,Zhang, Qing-Qin,Li, Si-Qing,Li, Xiao-Rui,Huo, Xiao-Qing,Yang, Qing-Hui,Li, Wei-Wei,Gu, Jian-Fa,Hua, Qin-Liang,Lu, Ping,Miao, Zhan-Hui Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.4

Objective: To explore the effect on radiosensitivity of arsenic trioxide ($As_20_3$) in conjunction with hyperthermia on the esophageal carcinoma EC-1 cell line. Method: Inhibition of EC-1 cell proliferation at different concentrations of $As_20_3$ was assessed using the methyl thiazolyl blue colorimetric method (MTT method), with calculation of $IC_{50}$ value and choice of 20% of the $IC_{50}$ as the experimental drug concentration. Blank control, $As_20_3$, hyperthermia, radiotherapy group, $As_20_3$ + hyperthermia, $As_20_3$ + radiotherapy, hyperthermia + radiotherapy and $As_20_3$ + hyperthermia + radiotherapy groups were established, and the cell survival fraction (SF) was calculated from flat panel colony forming analysis, and fitted by the 'multitarget click mathematical model'. Flow cytometry (FCM) was used to detect changes in cell apoptosis and the cell cycle. Results: $As_20_3$ exerted inhibitory effects on proliferation of esophageal carcinoma EC-1 cells, with an $IC_{50}$ of 18.7 ${\mu}mol/L$. After joint therapy of $As_20_3$ + hyperthermia + radiotherapy, the results of FCM showed that cells could be arrested in the $G_2$/M phase, and as the ratio of cells in $G_0/G_1$ and S phases decreased, cell death became more pronounced. Conclusion: $As_20_3$ and hyperthermia exert radiosensitivity effects on esophageal carcinoma EC-1 cells, with synergy in combination. Mechanistically, $As_20_3$ and hyperthermia mainly influence the cell cycle distribution of EC-1 esophageal carcinoma cells, decreasing the repair of sublethal damage and inducing apoptosis, thereby enhancing the killing effects of radioactive rays.

Review : Purification and Characterization of a Novel Extracellular Thermostable Alkaline Protease from Streptomyces sp. M30

( Yan Xin ),( Zhibin Sun ),( Qiongzhen Chen ),( Jue Wang ),( Yicheng Wang ),( Linfeng Luogong ),( Shuhuan Li ),( Weiliang Dong ),( Zhongli Cui ),( Yan Huang ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2015 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.25 No.11

A novel alkaline protease from Streptomyces sp. M30, SapHM, was purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation, hydrophobic interaction chromatography, and DEAE-Sepharose chromatography, with a yield of 15.5% and a specific activity of 29,070 U/mg. Tryptic fragments of the purified SapHM were obtained by electrospray ionization quadrupole timeof- flight mass spectrometry. Nucleotide sequence analysis revealed that the gene sapHM contained 1,179 bp, corresponding to 392 amino acids with conserved Asp156, His187, and Ser339 residues of alkaline protease. The first 24 amino acid residues were predicted to be a signal peptide, and the molecular mass of the mature peptide was 37.1 kDa based on amino acid sequences and mass spectrometry. Pure SapHM was optimally active at 80°C in 50 mM glycine-NaOH buffer (pH 9.0), and was broadly stable at 0-50°C and pH 4.0-9.0. The protease relative activity was increased in the presence of Ni2+, Mn2+, and Cu2+ to 112%, 113%, and 147% of control, respectively. Pure SapHM was also activated by dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, Tween 80, and urea. The activity of the purified enzyme was completely inhibited by phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride, indicating that it is a serine-type protease. The Km and Vmax values were estimated to be 35.7 mg/ml, and 5 × 104 U/mg for casein. Substrate specificity analysis showed that SapH was active on casein, bovine serum albumin, and bovine serum fibrin.

Aloin protects against chronic alcoholic liver injury via attenuating lipid accumulation, oxidative stress and inflammation in mice

        Yan Cui,Qing Ye,Heya Wang,Yingchao Li,Xiuhua Xia,Weirong Yao,He Qian 대한약학회 2014 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.37 No.12

The present study was designed to investigatethe protective effect of aloin against alcoholic liver disease ina chronic alcohol feeding mouse model. Mice were givenalcohol twice a day by intragastric administration for11 weeks (4.0, 4.7, 5.5 g/kg bw/day for the first 3 weeksrespectively, 6.3 g/kg bw/day for the following 8 weeks). Aloin (10, 30 mg/kg bw) or vehicle was given by gavage tomice after each alcohol administration. Alcohol elevated theserum transaminases alanine aminotransferase, aspartateaminotransferase, total cholesterol and triglyceride levelswhich were significantly attenuated by the co-administrationof aloin (p\0.05). Histopathological observations wereconsistent with these indices. Co-administration of aloinsignificantly suppressed the alcohol-dependent induction ofsterol regulatory element-binding protein-1c expression(p\0.01) and remarkably up-regulated themRNA levels ofAMP-activated protein kinase-a2 (p\0.001). Furthermore, aloin supplementation significantly inhibited the alcoholdependentelevation of malondialdehyde and cytochromeP4502E1 expression (p\0.05), and significantly elevatedsuperoxide dismutase activity (p\0.01). The up-regulationof serum lipopolysaccharide (LPS), hepatic nitric oxide, tumor necrosis factor a, toll-like receptor-4, and myeloiddifferentiation primary response gene 88 were also markedlysuppressed by the co-administration of aloin (p\0.05) inalcohol-treated mice. These results suggest that aloin mayrepresent a novel, protective strategy against chronic alcoholicliver injury by attenuating lipid accumulation, oxidativestress and LPS-induced inflammatory response.

Scale-up of adventitious root cultures of Echinacea angustifolia in a pilot-scale bioreactor for the production of biomass and caffeic acid derivatives

        Cui, Hai-Yan,Baque, Md. Abdullahil,Lee, Eun-Jung,Paek, Kee-Yoeup 한국식물생명공학회 2013 Plant biotechnology reports Vol.7 No.3

In an attempt to scale-up of adventitious root cultures of Echinacea angustifolia for the production of biomass and caffeic acid derivatives, i.e. echinacoside, chlorogenic acid, cichoric acid, caftaric acid, and cynarin, the effects of Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium dilutions, and initial sucrose concentrations were investigated in a 5-L airlift bioreactor. In addition, the kinetics of adventitious root growth and accumulation of secondary metabolites were also studied. The greatest root dry weight ($6.50gL^{-1}$) and accumulation of total phenolics [$22.06mgg^{-1}$ DW (dry weight)], total flavonoids ($5.77mgg^{-1}$ DW) and total caffeic acid derivatives ($10.63mgg^{-1}$ DW) were obtained at quarter-strength MS medium. Of the various gradients of sucrose tested, 5 % sucrose supplementation was regarded as an optimal concentration for enhancing productivity of biomass and bioactive compounds. Neither higher salt strength (3/4-2 MS) nor sucrose concentrations (7 and 9 %) showed promotive effect on root growth and metabolite production. The kinetic studies revealed that 4 weeks of culture period is the optimal time to achieve highest productivity of metabolites. Based on these results, a largescale (20 L) and a pilot-scale (500 L) adventitious root culture system was established. In the pilot-scale bioreactor, adventitious roots were elicitor-treated with $100{\mu}M$ methyl jasmonate (MJ) on day 28. After 1 week of elicitation, 1.75 kg dry root biomass was harvested containing $60.41mgg^{-1}$ DW of total phenolics, $16.45mgg^{-1}$ DW of total flavonoids, and $33.44mgg^{-1}$ DW of total caffeic acid derivatives. Among the caffeic acid derivatives, the accumulation of echinacoside (the major bioactive compound) in MJ-treated adventitious roots grown in the 500-L bioreactor was the highest ($12.3mgg^{-1}$ DW), which is approximately threefold more than the non-MJ-treated roots cultured in 5- and 20-L bioreactors.

Asymmetry of Cloud Vertical Structures and Associated Radiative Effects in Typhoon over the Northwest Pacific Based on CloudSat Tropical Cyclone Dataset

        Yan Yafei,Tan Jianguo,Cui Linli,Yu Wei,Hu Yan 한국기상학회 2020 Asia-Pacific Journal of Atmospheric Sciences Vol.56 No.4

The clouds’ macro-, microphysical vertical structures and radiative effects in 4 shear-relative quadrants of typhoon over the northwest Pacific during development, maturity and extinction stages are studied based on CloudSat Tropical Cyclone dataset and China Meteorological Administration tropical cyclone dataset from 2nd June 2006 to 31th December 2015. The typhoon cloud is in an asymmetric “mushroom” shape, with the downshear quadrants (in particular of the downshear left quadrant (DL)) have denser clouds than the upshear quadrants. Cloud ice water content mainly distributes near typhoon center with wide vertical range (6–17 km). A large number of ice particles with small sizes are gathering in high levels, while small amount of ice particles with large sizes are gathering in low levels. As typhoon matures, the number concentration and size of cloud ice particles in inner ring increases, especially in the DL quadrant; while in the upshear left (UL) quadrant, a larger amount of ice particles with bigger sizes are transport to high levels (above 16 km) by deeper convection near storm center. The shortwave (longwave) cloud radiative effects (CRE) is mainly heating (cooling) upper layer atmosphere between 10 km and 17 km (between 14 km and 17 km), and the net CRE on atmosphere is heating almost at any levels in typhoon. The strongest heating of shortwave CRE and net CRE, as well as the strongest cooling of longwave CRE are in the DL quadrant at development stage and in the UL quadrant at maturity stage in inner core of storms. The existences of typhoon clouds mainly decrease solar radiation penetrating to the earth surface and increase longwave radiation absorbed by the whole atmosphere in typhoon’s inner core, and they are generally stronger in downshear (especially in DL) quadrants, except the maturity stage when the UL quadrant performs the strongest shortwave CRE on the surface and longwave CRE on the atmosphere in typhoon’s inner core.

A Novel Bi-directional Promoter Cloned from Melon and Its Activity in Cucumber and Tobacco

( Cui Yan Wang ),( Dong Feng Ding ),( Rui Xiang Yan ),( Xiao Ju Yu ),( Wei Dong Li ),( Ming Gang Li ) 한국식물학회 2008 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.51 No.2

A bi-directional promoter, DP, was cloned by PCR amplification using the genomic DNA of melon as template. Analysis of its cis-acting elements in both directions revealed a series of inducible regulatory elements and some enhancer elements. To evaluate its transcriptional activity, DP in both directions was then cloned into vector pBI121 to replace the CaMV 35S promoter. DP in both directions also was inserted downstream of CaMV 35S to investigate whether the double promoter might affect expression of the uidA reporter gene at higher levels. Transient expression in cucumber leaves, stems, and fruits as well as in tobacco leaves and stems showed that DP in both directions drove transcription to much higher levels than did the single promoter CaMV 35S. However, activity of the double promoter was lower than the corresponding activity of the single promoter DP in both directions. These results demonstrate that DP is a natural bi-directional promoter, with much more activity than is found with the CaMV 35S promoter. Furthermore, in cucumber and tobacco, it is not suitable to insert DP in either direction downstream of the CaMV 35S promoter to form a double promoter.

      • Lack of Efficacy of Tai Chi in Improving Quality of Life in Breast Cancer Survivors: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Yan, Jun-Hong,Pan, Lei,Zhang, Xiao-Min,Sun, Cui-Xiang,Cui, Guang-He Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.8

Background: It is controversial whether Tai Chi (TC) benefits breast cancer survivors (BCS) on quality of life (QoL). We therefore undertook a meta-analysis to assess this question. Materials and Methods: A computerized search through electronic databases was performed to identify relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The primary outcome was QoL, while secondary outcomes included body mass index (BMI), bone mineral density (BMD), and muscle strength. Results: Five RCTs involving 407 patients were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled standardized mean differences were 0.10 (95% confidence interval (CI): -0.35-0.54) for physical well-being, 0.03 (95%CI: -0.18-0.25) for social/family well-being, 0.24 (95%CI: 0.02-0.45) for emotional well-being, 0.23 (95%CI: -0.03-0.49) for functional well-being, and 0.09 (95%CI: -0.19-0.36) for additional concerns. TC failed to improve BMI, BMD, and muscle strength. Conclusions: There is currently lack of sufficient evidence to support TC improving QoL and other important clinical endpoints.
