β2-adrenergic receptor (β2-AR) was expressed efficiently using Bac-to-Bac Baculovirus Expression System in Sf9 cells as a bio-recognition element for multianalyte screening of β-agonist residues in pork. Sf9 cells were selected as the expression system, and codon optimization of wild-type nucleic acid sequence and time-dependent screening of expression conditions were then carried out for enhancing expression level and biological activity. Under optimum conditions of multiplicity of infection (MOI) = 5 and 48 h post transfection, the protein yield was up to 1.23 mg/ml. After purification by chromatographic techniques, the purified recombinant protein was applied to develop a direct competitive enzyme-linked receptor assay (ELRA) and the efficiency and reliability of the assay was determined. The IC50 values of clenbuterol, salbutamol, and ractopamine were 28.36, 50.70, and 59.57 μg/l, and clenbuterol showed 47.61% and 55.94% cross-reactivities with ractopamine and salbutamol, respectively. The limit of detection (LOD) was 3.2 μg/l and the relevant recoveries in pork samples were in the range of 73.0-91.2%, 69.4-84.6%, and 63.7-80.2%, respectively. The results showed that it had better performance compared with other present nonradioactive receptor-based assays, indicating that the genetically modified β2-AR would have great application potential in detection of β-agonist residues.

This paper investigates the progressive damage of filament wound composite tubes embedded within metal joints. Finite element analysis (FEA) modellings were provided through CADWIND filament wound simulation software, and progressive damage analysis of composite tubes was carried out using the Puck criterion under tensile loading. Besides, the ultimate tensile loading of composite tube was carried out. It was found that the inside metal joint extruded the outer composite layers, which resulted in further failure damage of the composite tubes. Furthermore, thickening the composite layer outside metal joint was beneficial to improve the tensile load of the composite tube. Moreover, the numerical results of the FEA provided a reasonably good agreement with the experimental results, which was less than 10 % on the ultimate tensile loading value. Finally, the FEA with the Puck criterion was suitable to predict the progressive damage of filament wound composite tube embedded with metal joints.

Bone graft materials have mixed effects of bone repair in the field of oral maxillofacial surgery. The qualitative analyses performed by previous studies imply that autogenous odontogenic materials and autogenous bone have similar effects on bone repair in clinical jaw bone transplantation. This retrospective systematic assessment and network meta-analysis aimed to analyze the best effect of clinical application of autogenous odontogenic materials and autogenous, allogeneic, and xenogeneic bone grafts in bone defect repair. A systematic review was performed by searching the PubMed, Cochrane Library, and other journal databases using selected keywords and Medical Subject Headings search terms. 10 Papers (n = 466) that met the inclusion criteria were selected. The assessment of heterogeneity did not reveal any overall statistical difference or heterogeneity (P = 0.051 > 0.05), whereas the comparison between autogenous and allogeneic bone grafts revealed local heterogeneity (P = 0.071 < 0.1). Risk of bias revealed nine unclear studies and one high-risk study. The overall consistency was good (P = 0.065 > 0.05), and the local inconsistency test did not reveal any inconsistency. The publication bias was good. The confidence regarding the ranking of bone graft materials after GRADE classification was moderate. The effects on bone repair in the descending order were as follows: autogenous odontogenic materials, xenogeneic bone, autogenous bone, and allogeneic bone. This result indicates that the autogenous odontogenic materials displayed stronger effects on bone repair compared to other bone graft materials. Autogenous odontogenic materials have broad development prospects in oral maxillofacial surgery.
