The influence of a first-order antedependence model and hyperparameters in BayesCπ for genomic prediction

        Xiujin Li,Xiaohong Liu,Yaosheng Chen 아세아·태평양축산학회 2018 Animal Bioscience Vol.31 No.12

Objective : The Bayesian first-order antedependence models, which specified single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) effects as being spatially correlated in the conventional BayesA/B, had more accurate genomic prediction than their corresponding classical counterparts. Given advantages of BayesCπ over BayesA/B, we have developed hyper-BayesCπ, ante-BayesCπ, and ante-hyper-BayesCπ to evaluate influences of the antedependence model and hyperparameters for vg and on BayesCπ. Methods : Three public data (two simulated data and one mouse data) were used to validate our proposed methods. Genomic prediction performance of proposed methods was compared to traditional BayesCπ, ante-BayesA and ante-BayesB. Results : Through both simulation and real data analyses, we found that hyper-BayesCπ, ante-BayesCπ and ante-hyper-BayesCπ were comparable with BayesCπ, ante-BayesB, and ante-BayesA regarding the prediction accuracy and bias, except the situation in which ante-BayesB performed significantly worse when using a few SNPs and π = 0.95. Conclusion : Hyper-BayesCπ is recommended because it avoids pre-estimated total genetic variance of a trait compared with BayesCπ and shortens computing time compared with ante-BayesB. Although the antedependence model in BayesCπ did not show the advantages in our study, larger real data with high density chip may be used to validate it again in the future.

Security Analysis of the Khudra Lightweight Cryptosystem in the Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks

( Wei Li ),( Chenyu Ge ),( Dawu Gu ),( Linfeng Liao ),( Zhiyong Gao ),( Xiujin Shi ),( Ting Lu ),( Ya Liu ),( Zhiqiang Liu ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2018 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.12 No.7

With the enlargement of wireless technology, vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) are rising as a hopeful way to realize smart cities and address a lot of vital transportation problems such as road security, convenience, and efficiency. To achieve data confidentiality, integrity and authentication applying lightweight cryptosystems is widely recognized as a rather efficient approach for the VANETs. The Khudra cipher is such a lightweight cryptosystem with a typical Generalized Feistel Network, and supports 80-bit secret key. Up to now, little research of fault analysis has been devoted to attacking Khudra. On the basis of the single nibble-oriented fault model, we propose a differential fault analysis on Khudra. The attack can recover its 80-bit secret key by introducing only 2 faults. The results in this study will provides vital references for the security evaluations of other lightweight ciphers in the VANETs.

Experimental study of the influence of sodium salts as additive to NOxOUT process

        Zhaoping Zhong,Xiujin Liang,Baosheng Jin,Xiaolin Chen,Weiling Li,Hongge Wei,Houkun Guo 한국화학공학회 2010 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.27 No.5

An experimental study of the SNCR process with urea as reducing agent and sodium salts as additive has been carried out, and detailed analysis of the reaction mechanism has been given here. In the temperature range of 800-975 oC, NO concentration decreases at first and then increases while the concentration of N2O increases at first and then decreases with the increasing of temperature, and the turning point is 900 oC. With increasing of normalized stoichiometric ratio of reduction nitrogen to NOx (NSR), NO removal efficiency increases, while the concentration of N2O also increases, which decreases overall NOx removal efficiency. With sodium salts as additive, the concentration of N2O decreases with increasing of sodium salts addition at all temperatures, while the concentration of NO decreases at first and then increases at low-temperature side of the temperature window and increases at high-temperature side with additional increasing, whose changing extent is smaller than N2O. Since sodium salts as additive can remove N2O effectively and have no large influence on the removal of NO, the effect of sodium salts as additive is the combined effect of the production of active radicals and the removal of HNCO produced by the decomposition of urea through neutralization reactions, which is more important. To achieve the same effect under each condition, the needed addition of NaOH and CH3COONa is less than that of Na2CO3 counting as Na atom. For the decomposition of CH3COONa can produce CH3COO, its addition can promote the reduction of NO more obviously at the lower temperature than Na2CO3 or NaOH. Overall NOx removal efficiency at 900 oC with NSR=1.5 had been improved from about 30% to 70.45% through the addition of sodium salts. Sodium salts as additive caused the flue gas to become alkaline gas, but it was not serious for sodium salts existing as NaNCO.

Inhibition of Invasion and Metastasis of MHCC97H Cells by Expression of Snake Venom Cystatin through Reduction of Proteinases Activity and Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition

        Nanhong Tang,Qun Xie,Xiaoqian Wang,Xiujin Li,Yanlin Chen,Xu Lin,Jianyin Lin 대한약학회 2011 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.34 No.5

Snake venom cystatin (sv-cystatin) is a member of the cystatin family of cysteine protease inhibitors. To further evaluate the possibility of sv-cystatin in cancer therapy, this study examined the effects of sv-cystatin on the invasion and metastasis of liver cancer cells (MHCC97H) in vitro and in vivo as well as the underlying mechanism. sv-cystatin cDNA was transfected into MHCC97H cells and the anti-invasion and antimetastasis effects of sv-cystatin were determined using migration and matrigel invasion assays and a lung-metastasis mice model. The results suggest that sv-cyst clone (sv-cystatin expression in MHCC97H cells) delayed the invasion and metastasis in vitro and in vivo compared to the parental, mock and si-sv-cyst clone cells (inhibited sv-cystatin expression by siRNA). The decreased activities of cathepsin B, MMP-2 and MMP-9 and EMT change index including higher E-cadherin, lower N-cadherin and decreased Twist activity were observed in the sv-cyst clone, which contributes to the change in invasion and metastasis ability of MHCC97H cells. This study provides evidence that expression of the sv-cystatin gene in MHCC97H cells inhibits tumor cell invasion and metastasis through the reduction of the proteinases activity and Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT), which might contribute to the anticancer research of the sv-cystatin protein.

Energy-Efficient Algorithm for Assigning Verification Tasks in Cloud Storage

( Guangwei Xu ),( Zhifeng Sun ),( Cairong Yan ),( Xiujin Shi ),( Yue Li ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2017 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.11 No.1

Mobile Cloud Computing has become a promising computing platform. It moves users` data to the centralized large data centers for users` mobile devices to conveniently access. Since the data storage service may not be fully trusted, many public verification algorithms are proposed to check the data integrity. However, these algorithms hardly consider the huge computational burden for the verifiers with resource-constrained mobile devices to execute the verification tasks. We propose an energy-efficient algorithm for assigning verification tasks (EEAVT) to optimize the energy consumption and assign the verification tasks by elastic and customizable ways. The algorithm prioritizes verification tasks according to the expected finish time of the verification, and assigns the number of checked blocks referring to devices` residual energy and available operation time. Theoretical analysis and experiment evaluation show that our algorithm not only shortens the verification finish time, but also decreases energy consumption, thus improving the efficiency and reliability of the verification.

Construction of Bacillus subtilis strain engineered for expression of porcine β-defensin-2/cecropin P1 fusion antimicrobial peptides and its growth-promoting effect and antimicrobial activity

        Jian Xu,Fei Zhong,Yonghong Zhang,Jianlou Zhang,Shanshan Huo,Hongyu Lin,Liyue Wang,Dan Cui,Xiujin Li 아세아·태평양축산학회 2017 Animal Bioscience Vol.30 No.4

Objective: To generate recombinant Bacillus subtilis (B. subtilis) engineered for expression of porcine β-defensin-2 (pBD-2) and cecropin P1 (CP1) fusion antimicrobial peptide and investigate their anti-bacterial activity in vitro and their growth-promoting and disease resisting activity in vivo. Methods: The pBD-2 and CP1 fused gene was synthesized using the main codons of B. subtilis and inserted into plasmid pMK4 vector to construct their expression vector. The fusion peptide-expressing B. subtilis was constructed by transformation with the vector. The expressed fusion peptide was detected with Western blot. The antimicrobial activity of the expressed fusion peptide and the recovered pBD-2 and CP1 by enterokinase digestion in vitro was analyzed by the bacterial growth-inhibitory activity assay. To analyze the engineered B. subtilis on growth promotion and disease resistance, the weaned piglets were fed with basic diet supplemented with the recombinant B. subtilis. Then the piglets were challenged by enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (E. coli). The weight gain and diarrhea incidence of piglets were measured after challenge. Results: The recombinant B. subtilis engineered for expression of pBD-2/CP1 fusion peptide was successfully constructed using the main codons of the B. subtilis. Both expressed pBD-2/CP1 fusion peptide and their individual peptides recovered from parental fusion peptide by enterokinase digestion possessed the antimicrobial activities to a variety of the bacteria, including gram-negative bacteria (E. coli, Salmonella typhimurium, and Haemophilus parasuis) and gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus). Supplementing the engineered B. subtilis to the pig feed could significantly promote the piglet growth and reduced diarrhea incidence of the piglets. Conclusion: The generated B. subtilis strain can efficiently express pBD-2/CP1 fusion antimicrobial peptide, the recovered pBD-2 and CP1 peptides possess potent antimicrobial activities to a variety of bacterial species in vitro. Supplementation of the engineered B. subtilis in pig feed obviously promote piglet growth and resistance to the colibacillosis.
