Cutting parameters optimization for MRR under the constraints of surface roughness and cutter breakage in micro-milling process

        Xiaohong Lu,Haixing Zhang,Zhen-yuan Jia,Yixuan Feng,Steven Y. Liang 대한기계학회 2018 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.32 No.7

Selection of cutting parameters in micro-milling operations is essential for improving machining efficiency and quality, and prolonging the micro-milling tool life. The increase of material removal rate (MRR) always means the increase of cutting parameters, which may lead to poor surface quality and micro-milling tool failure, even cutter breakage. An optimization approach based on genetic algorithm is used to achieve the maximum MRR under the constraints of surface roughness and cutter breakage. A theoretical model for predicting micro-milling cutter breakage is presented and micro-milling experiments were conducted to establish statistical models of cutter breakage and surface roughness. The optimized results were achieved under the constraints of the specified surface roughness and compared under the different surface roughness limitation. We find that the optimized results improve the machining efficiency and quality in micro-milling and is affected by constraint conditions complicatedly.

Salt template-assisted construction of three-dimensional interconnected network in thermally conductive EP/PVDF/NiCo@GNP composites

        Ning Jia,Bin Yang,Xiaohong Wang,Shishuang Cui,Peng Chen,Ru Xia,Zhengzhi Zheng,Jiasheng Qian,Yuchao Ke,Yang Pan 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.125 No.-

In this study, graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) and nickel–cobalt (NiCo) alloy were adopted as reinforcingmaterials to prepare epoxy (EP) resin-based composites. NiCo particles were able to achieve uniformanchoring on GNPs’ surface under the electrostatic force due to the successful introduction of oxygendefects on GNPs. With the synergistic effect of adhesive PVDF and salt particles, the system with threedimensionally(3D) interconnected network was successfully constructed. Benefit from the formation ofmechanically stable and efficient heat conduction paths, the thermal conductivity (TC) of the EP/PVDF/NiCo@GNP composite reached 1.077 Wm1K1 at a filler volume fraction of 6.82 vol%, while the counterpart’sstoragemodulus (E’) was up to 3.22 GPa. In addition, a scaling formula was quantitatively proposed tocorrelate TC with E’, and the perfect agreement between the theoretical prediction and experimental dataclarified the underlying mechanism of the relationship between phonons transport and stress transferwithin a systemwith 3D ordered structures. The establishment of relationship between AHR (average heatingrate) and TC made it possible to further predict TC of composites based upon the infrared thermal imaging(ITI) data. The as-prepared GNP composites show good application prospects as thermal managementmaterials which need to experience thermally mechanical deformation.

        Yongde Zhang,Xiaohong Jia,Jingang Jiang,Yi Liu,Yong Wang 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Smart Home Vol.10 No.8

A 3D mathematical model of orthodontic archwire with rectangular curve is established. Simplified 3D solid model of orthodontic archwire bending robot, which is consistent of bending die, support structure and archwire are established by Creo software, then the simplified model of bending die is put into ANSYS Workbench. Material parameters the contact condition and boundary conditions are set reasonably for the model. Based on the finite element analysis method, the calculation and analysis of the nonlinear contact problem of archwire and bending die, besides the stress distribution of curve bending and bending die is got. This provides the reference for optimal design of bending planning and bending die.

Intensified solvent extraction and separation of cobalt from Ni-rich leaching solution in impinging stream-rotating packed bed contactor

        Chang Jun,Jia Fukang,Mumford Kathryn A.,Yang Xiaohong,Xie Zinan 한국자원공학회 2020 Geosystem engineering Vol.23 No.5

This work describes the separation of Ni and Co from a real feed solution in chloride media with high Ni content. The extractant used was P507 (2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid-2-ethylhexyl ester) in a laboratory scale Impinging Stream–Rotating Packed Bed (IS-RPB) contactor. Key variables including feed solution pH, extractant concentration, saponification degree, high gravity level and total volumetric flow rate of fluids amongst other variables were examined. A McCabe–Thiele diagram of the extraction stage predicted that at a total volumetric flow rate of 90 L/h, feed solution pH of 5, saponified P507 concentration of 25% and high gravity of 83, almost 99% of cobalt, would be extracted within three stages. With regard to the scrubbing results, the co-extracted nickel was scrubbed efficiently from the loaded organic solution using a mixture of 0.02 M CoCl2 and 0.5 M hydrochloric acid solution, The purified Co solution was achieved after stripping the loaded-organic phase with 1 M HCl. The maximum value of the overall volumetric mass transfer coefficient for the IS-RPB extractor was found to be 0.16 s−1 which was superior to that of conventional extractors such as mixer-settler and centrifugal extractors, providing strong confidence for its industrial application.

Enhancing the Robustness and Efficiency of Scale-free Network with Limited Link Addition

( Li Li ),( Qing-shan Jia ),( Xiaohong Guan ),( Hengtao Wang ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2012 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.6 No.5

The robustness of a network is usually measured by error tolerance and attack vulnerability. Significant research effort has been devoted to determining the network design with optimal robustness. However, little attention has been paid to the problem of how to improve the robustness of existing networks. In this paper, we investigate how to optimize attack tolerance and communication efficiency of an existing network under the limited link addition. A survival fitness metric is defined to measure both the attack tolerance and the communication efficiency of the network. We show that network topology reconfiguration optimization with limited link addition (NTRLA) problem is NP-hard. Two approximate solution methods are developed. First, we present a degree-fitness parameter to guide degree-based link addition method. Second, a preferential configuration node-protecting cycle (PCNC) method is developed to do trade-off between network robustness and efficiency. The performance of PCNC method is demonstrated by numerical experiments.

Long non-coding RNAs in Sus scrofa ileum under starvation stress

        Wang Shu,Ma Yi Jia,Li Yong Shi,Ge Xu Sheng,Lu Chang,Cai Chunbo,Yang Yang,Zhao Yan,Liang Guo Ming,Guo Xiaohong,Cao Guoqing,Li Bugao,Gao Pengfei 아세아·태평양축산학회 2022 Animal Bioscience Vol.35 No.7

Objective: In this study, we aimed to identify long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) that play important roles in starvation stress, analyze their functions, and discover potential molecular targets to alleviate starvation stress to provide a theoretical reference for subsequent in-depth research. Methods: We generated a piglet starvation stress animal model. Nine Yorkshire weaned piglets were randomly divided into a long-term starvation stress group (starved for 72 h), short-term starvation stress group (starved for 48 h), and the control group. LncRNA libraries were constructed using high-throughput sequencing of piglet ileums. Results: We obtained 11,792 lncRNAs, among which, 2,500 lncRNAs were novel. In total, 509 differentially expressed (DE)lncRNAs were identified in this study. Target genes of DElncRNAs were predicted via cis and trans interactions, and functional and pathway analyses were performed. Gene ontology functions and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes analysis revealed that lncRNA-targeted genes mainly participated in metabolic pathways, cellular processes, immune system processes, digestive systems, and transport activities. To reveal the mechanism underlying starvation stress, the interaction network between lncRNAs and their targets was constructed based on 26 DElncRNAs and 72 DEmRNAs. We performed an interaction network analysis of 121 DElncRNA–DEmRNA pairs with a Pearson correlation coefficient greater than 0.99. Conclusion: We found that MSTRG.19894.13, MSTRG.16726.3, and MSTRG.12176.1 might play important roles in starvation stress. This study not only generated a library of enriched lncRNAs in piglets, but its outcomes also provide a strong foundation to screen key lncRNAs involved in starvation stress and a reference for subsequent in-depth research. Inhibition of ClC-5 suppresses proliferation and induces apoptosis in cholangiocarcinoma cells through the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway

( Zhe Shi ),( Liyuan Zhou ),( Yan Zhou ),( Xiaoyan Jia ),( Xiangjun Yu ),( Xiaohong An ),( Yanzhen Han ) 생화학분자생물학회 2022 BMB Reports Vol.55 No.6

Chloride channel-5 (ClC-5), an important branch of the ClC family, is involved in the regulation of the proliferation and cell-fate of a variety of cells, including tumor cells. However, its function in cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) cells remains enigmatic. Here, we discovered that ClC-5 was up-regulated in CCA tissues and CCA cell lines, while ClC-5 silencing inhibited CCA cell proliferation and induced apoptosis. Further mechanism studies revealed that ClC-5 inhibition could inhibit Wnt/β-catenin signaling activity and further activate the mitochondria apoptotic pathway in CCA cells. Furthermore, rescuing Wnt/β-catenin signaling activation eliminated the anti-tumor function of ClC-5 knockdown. Together, our research findings illustrated that ClC-5 inhibition plays an anti-tumor role in CCA cells via inhibiting the activity of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, which in turn activates the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway. A review of experimental methods for characterising composite viscosities of continuous fibre-reinforced polymer composites

        Wang Jinhuo,Han Yang,Ge Xiaohong,Qi Zhengbing,Zhao Jun,Wang Rongwen,Wu Huawei,Han Taiping,Sun Shaoxun,Wang Hui,Lin Jia,Liu Yuejun,Kong Xiangsong,Chen Qiming,Zeng Xiangxu 한국유변학회 2023 Korea-Australia rheology journal Vol.35 No.2

Optimisation design of composite structures requires an accurate predictive model for forming behaviour. The simulation process contains a number of model parameters which include transverse and longitudinal viscosities of continuous fibrereinforced viscous composites, fundamental to predicting the shear rheology. Shearing the unidirectional composite along the fibre direction gives a measure of the longitudinal viscosity (LV), whilst shearing across or transverse to the fibre direction gives a measure of the transverse viscosity (TV). Numerous experimental work was conducted in the past to measure these two viscosities for various materials. However, conflicting measurements by different test methods were obtained and these apparent discrepancies had not yet been systematically investigated in any single study. This paper reviews previous work on characterisation techniques to further understand the cause of such discrepancy, and hence to improve measurement accuracy, which would benefit future work on theoretical modelling of the composite viscosities and optimisation simulation of composites forming. Some important findings, such as effects of resin-rich areas, contributory factors of elastic effects, non-Newtonian behaviour for composites with Newtonian matrix, aspect ratio and end effects of test samples, geometry effects of fibres and fibre rearrangement during shearing, existence of a mathematical relationship between LV and TV and necessary benchmarking exercise using Newtonian matrix composites, were summarised.
