Test Study on the Air Permeability of Remolded Q3 Malan Loess

        Jia Liu,Xi’an Li,Zeze Guo,Quan Xue,Li Wang,Jinyang Liu 대한토목학회 2021 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.25 No.8

Gas permeability is an important parameter in the determination of the pore structure characteristics of loess, especially in engineering fields such as earthwork and landfill cover treatment. With an improved ZC-2015 air permeameter, the air permeability (ka) testing under different water contents (w), dry densities (ρd) and wetting paths was conducted on remolded Q3 Malan loess from the Chanhe River area in Xi’an, Shaanxi, China. The results indicate that the ka of the remolded loess decreased rapidly as ρd increased and exhibited a relatively complex pattern as w increased. When w was less than the plastic limit (wp) and ρdwas relatively low (1.35 g·cm−3, 1.45 g·cm−3), ka decreased as we increased. When ρd reached a certain value (1.50 g·cm−3, 1.65 g·cm−3), the ka–we curve exhibited a notable turning point. When ρd continued to increase 1.70 g·cm−3, ka decreased as we increased. The results of microscopic analysis, suggested that under the action of different water content and compaction, levels of aggregates and pore structures were formed. A Poulsen model was used to predict the ka and the test results were in relatively coincident with the calculation results, demonstrating that the Poulsen model is applicable.

Mixtures of Tea and Citrus maxima (pomelo) Alleviate Lipid Deposition in HepG2 Cells Through the AMPK/ACC Signaling Pathway

        Ran An,Shuai Wen,Dong-Li Li,Qiu-Hua Li,Xing-Fei Lai,Wen-Ji Zhang,Ruo-Hong Chen,Jun-Xi Cao,Zhi-Gang Li,Qiu-Sheng Huang,Ling-Li Sun,Shi-Li Sun 한국식품영양과학회 2020 Journal of medicinal food Vol.23 No.9

Tea and citrus maxima are natural, medicinal homologous plants, typically used for making beverages, which have anticancer, antiobesity, and antioxidation properties. Green tea, yellow tea, and black tea were combined with citrus maxima to obtain green tea and Citrus maxima (GTCM), yellow tea and Citrus maxima (YTCM), and black tea and Citrus maxima (BTCM). The biochemical components of these mixtures were analyzed, and their possible effects and mechanisms on relieving liver lipid deposition were explored. The tea polyphenols, free amino acids, phenolamine ratio, and caffeine were comparable in YTCM and GTCM, being significantly higher than those in BTCM. In addition, the content of esterified catechins, nonesterified catechins, and total catechins in YTCM was significantly higher than those in GTCM and BTCM. All three mixtures of Citrus maxima tea significantly reduced lipid deposition in HepG2 cells, with GTCM and YTCM being slightly more effective than BTCM. Regarding the possible mechanism, Western blot analysis revealed that the three Citrus maxima tea mixtures could activate the AMPK/ACC signaling pathway, upregulate the expression of p-AMPK, p-ACC, and CPT-1 proteins, and downregulate the expression of SREBP1c and fatty acid synthase proteins to inhibit fat synthesis, thereby relieving lipid deposition in liver cells. In conclusion, as a novel and healthy beverage, Citrus maxima tea has the potential to alleviate liver lipid deposition, and further could be responsible for obesity treatment.

      • Diagnosis and Cure Experience of Hepatolithiasis-Associated Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma in 66 Patients

        Li, Hong-Yang,Zhou, Shi-Ji,Li, Min,Xiong, Ding,Singh, Akanand,Guo, Qing-Xi,Liu, Chang-An,Gong, Jian-Ping Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.2

Background: The management of hepatolithiasis combined with intrahepatic cholangicarcinoma (IHHCC) remains a challenge due to poor prognosis. The aim of this study was to summarize our diagnosis and cure experience of IHHCC over the recent 10 years. Methods: From January 1996 to January 2006, 66 patients with IHHCC were reviewed retrospectively. Results: Of the 66 patients, 52 underwent surgical resection (radical resection in 38 and palliative in 14) and 8 patients abdominal exploration, while the other 6 cases received endoscopic retrograde biliary internal drainage and stent implantation. In this series, correct diagnosis of advanced stage was made during operation in 8 cases (8/60, 13.3%) and all of them (underwent unnecessary abdominal exploration, among them the positive rate of CA19-9 was 100%, and the positive rate of CEA was 87.6% (7/8), incidence rate of ascites was 100% and short-term significant weight loss was 100%, with median overall survival of only 4 months. Conclusion: Radical resection is mandatory for IHHCC patient to achieve long-term survival, the CT and MR imaging features of IHHCC being concentric enhancement. Patients with IHHCC have significant higher CA199 and significant higher CEA and short-term significant weight loss and ascites should be considered with advanced stage of IHHCC and unnecessary non-therapeutic laparotomies should be avoided.

        Li, An,Hu, Qian,Chen, Xi,Kim, Byoung Yoon,Shieh, William Optical Society of America 2014 Optics letters Vol.39 No.11

We propose and demonstrate generation of Brillouin dynamic grating (BDG) in a few-mode fiber (FMF) with a Gaussian pulse pump and a counterpropagating continuous wave pump in LP01 mode. Brillouin optical time-domain analysis (BOTDA) is achieved by launching a third Gaussian pulse probe in LP11 mode. With coherent detection and time-domain analysis on the backreflected probe signal, the modal birefringence of the FMF is characterized via the distributed BDG with high spatial resolution and high accuracy.

Microstructural Refinement and Performance Improvement of Cast n-Type Bi2Te2.79Se0.21 Ingot by Equal Channel Angular Extrusion

        Xiaoming Hu,Xi’an Fan,Bo Feng,Dong Kong,Peihai Liu,Rusong Li,Yanglin Zhang,Guangqiang Li,Yawei Li 대한금속·재료학회 2021 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.27 No.8

How to form a uniform fine-grained structure in n-type polycrystalline Bi2Te3based alloys to stabilize and improve thethermoelectric properties is the burning issue to be solved. In the present work, equal channel angular extrusion (ECAE)method was used to extrude the cast ingot directly at various temperatures to obtain the BiTeSe polycrystalline bulk alloyswith uniform microstructure. The initial lamellae coarse grains (hundreds microns to several millimeters) were efficiently anduniformly refined to a minimum of 4.07 μm at 703 K, which fully demonstrates the feasibility of grain refinement by ECAEfor cast n-type BiTeSe ingot. The average grain size of the extruded billets rapidly increased from 5.35 to 29.55 μm withthe increase of extrusion temperature from 703 to 823 K. Meanwhile, the behavior of abnormal grain growth became moreevident as the extrusion temperature increased because the growth rate increased more rapidly than the rate of nucleation. As the extrusion temperature increased, the Vickers hardness decreased gradually due to grain coarsening. BiTeSe alloysextruded at 703 K achieved the maximum Vickers hardness of 59.8 HV0.05,which was nearly three times higher than that ofthe initial cast ingot. All extruded BiTeSe billets possessed the much higher dimensionless figure of merit (ZT), comparedwith the initial cast ingot due to the simultaneously optimization of electrical and thermal transport performances caused byECAE process. Finally, the specimen extruded at 823 K achieved the maximum ZT of 0.685 at 383 K.

Influence Factors of the V2G Economic Benefits of Pure Electric Logistics Vehicles: A Case Study in Chengdu

        Zhang Hao,Liu Yu,Li Jingyuan,Yu Hanzhengnan,Xu Hang,Ma Kunqi,Liang Yongkai,An Xiaopan,Hu Xi 한국자동차공학회 2023 International journal of automotive technology Vol.24 No.5

Under the background that electric vehicles cause enormous supply pressure on the grid, the application of vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology can effectively alleviate supply pressure and also bring more economic benefits. Considering conditions for participating in V2G, pure electric logistics fleets have the advantages of stable work end time and large remaining power. In this paper, the economic benefits of the pure electric logistics fleet participating in V2G and the influence factors of the V2G profit are studied. Firstly, the travel data of a pure electric logistics fleet in Chengdu, China is collected. Secondly, the V2G profit model is established to quantify the economic benefits. Then, 4 V2G scenario modes are proposed based on window duration, window start time, SOC lower limit and discharge price. Finally, the change law and influence factors of the V2G profit in each V2G scenario mode are studied from the perspective of the discharge revenue, charge cost and battery loss cost. The results show that the V2G profit increases with the extension of window duration, the delay of window start time, the decrease of SOC lower limit and the increase of discharge price. The average profit of logistics fleets ranges from 3.94 RMB/(vehicleday) to 65.54 RMB/(vehicleday).

Automated Breast Ultrasound: Interobserver Agreement, Diagnostic Value, and Associated Clinical Factors of Coronal-Plane Image Features

        Guoxue Tang,Xin An,Huiling Xiang,Lixian Liu,Anhua Li,Xi Lin 대한영상의학회 2020 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.21 No.5

Objective: To evaluate the interobserver agreement, diagnostic value, and associated clinical factors of automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) coronal features in differentiating breast lesions. Materials and Methods: This study enrolled 457 pathologically confirmed lesions in 387 female (age, 46.4 ± 10.3 years), including 377 masses and 80 non-mass lesions (NMLs). The unique coronal features, including retraction phenomenon, hyper- or hypoechoic rim (continuous or discontinuous), skipping sign, and white wall sign, were defined and recorded. The interobserver agreement on image type and coronal features was evaluated. Furthermore, clinical factors, including the lesion size, distance to the nipple or skin, palpability, and the histological grade were analyzed. Results: Among the 457 lesions, 296 were malignant and 161 were benign. The overall interobserver agreement for image type and all coronal features was moderate to good. For masses, the retraction phenomenon was significantly associated with malignancies (p < 0.001) and more frequently presented in small and superficial invasive carcinomas with a low histological grade (p = 0.027, 0.002, and < 0.001, respectively). Furthermore, continuous hyper- or hypoechoic rims were predictive of benign masses (p < 0.001), whereas discontinuous rims were predictive of malignancies (p < 0.001). A hyperechoic rim was more commonly detected in masses more distant from the nipple (p = 0.027), and a hypoechoic rim was more frequently found in large superficial masses (p < 0.001 for both). For NMLs, the skipping sign was a predictor of malignancies (p = 0.040). Conclusion: The coronal plane of ABUS may provide useful diagnostic value for breast lesions.

Overexpression of Rcan1-1L Inhibits Hypoxia-Induced Cell Apoptosis through Induction of Mitophagy

Sun, Lijun,Hao, Yuewen,An, Rui,Li, Haixun,Xi, Cong,Shen, Guohong Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology 2014 Molecules and cells Vol.37 No.11

Mitophagy, a cellular process that selectively targets dysfunctional mitochondria for degradation, is currently a hot topic in research into the pathogenesis and treatment of many human diseases. Considering that hypoxia causes mitochondrial dysfunction, which results in cell death, we speculated that selective activation of mitophagy might promote cell survival under hypoxic conditions. In the present study, we introduced the Regulator of calcineurin 1-1L (Rcan1-1L) to initiate the mitophagy pathway and aimed to evaluate the effect of Rcan1-1L-induced mitophagy on cell survival under hypoxic conditions. Recombinant adenovirus vectors carrying Rcan1-1L were transfected into human umbilical vein endothelial cells and human adult cardiac myocytes. Using the 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide MTT assay and Trypan blue exclusion assay, Rcan1-1L overexpression was found to markedly reverse cell growth inhibition induced by hypoxia. Additionally, Rcan1-1L overexpression inhibited cell apoptosis under hypoxic conditions, as detected by annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)/propidium iodide (PI) apoptosis assay. Meanwhile, the mitochondria-mediated cell apoptotic pathway was inhibited by Rcan1-1L. In contrast, knockdown of Rcan1-1L accelerated hypoxia-induced cell apoptosis. Moreover, Rcan1-1L overexpression significantly reduced mitochondrial mass, decreased depolarized mitochondria, and downregulated ATP and reactive oxygen species production. We further delineated that the loss of mitochondrial mass was due to the activation of mitophagy induced by Rcan1-1L. Rcan1-1L overexpression activated autophagy flux and promoted translocation of the specific mitophagy receptor Parkin into mitochondria from the cytosol, whereas inhibition of autophagy flux resulted in the accumulation of Parkin-loaded mitochondria. Finally, we demonstrated that mitochondrial 1permeability transition pore opening was significantly increased by Rcan1-1L overexpression, which suggested that Rcan1-1L might evoke mitophagy through regulating mitochondrial permeability transition pores. Taken together, we provide evidence that Rcan1-1L overexpression induces mitophagy, which in turn contributes to cell survival under hypoxic conditions, revealing for the first time that Rcan1-1L-induced mitophagy may be used for cardioprotection.
