BL4C SAXS at the Pohang Light Source II is a small-angle X-ray scattering beamline based on an in-vacuum undulator insertion device, Si(111) DCM, and toroidal focusing mirror. The beamline normally provides high-flux synchrotron radiation X-ray sources with energies from 10.3 to 20.6 keV and a 100 µm (vertical) × 300 µm (horizontal) full width at half-maximum focal spot. The analysis of the SAXS data would be facilitated by means of useful ancillary equipment. The design of the beamline, the key components, and its role are described.

Bean-curd is usually sold in the state of immersing water and is apt to be spoiled due to the acting fungi. In order to prevent the bean-curd from spoilage, nitrofuryl acryl amide was added to the immersing water, and various types of preserving method was studied. The results acryl amide treated was able to prolong 2 hours from the spoilage as compared with non-treated. 1. Nitrofuryl acryl amide treated was able to prolong 2 hours from the spoilage as compared with non-treated. 2. When immersed in the circulating pure tab water alone, it was able to prolong 2hours rom the spoilage. 3. NaCIO solution did not show any effect on the prolongation form the spoliage.
Development of a Multipole Wiggler at the PLS

The Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL) has developed and installed a multipole wiggler (MPW14) to utilize high-energy synchrotron radiation at the Pohang Light Source (PLS). The MPW14 is a hybrid-type device with a period of 14 cm, a minimum gap of 14 mm, a maximum flux density of 2.02 Tesla, and a total magnetic structure length of 2056 mm. The peak flux density is higher compared to other wigglers with similar pole gaps and periods. The high peak flux density is achieved by using advanced new magnetic materials and by using 3-dimensional finite element (FEM) codes to optimize the magnetic geometry. Also, the optimal support positions on the backing beam and the compensation spring systems are determined to minimize the structure deformations. In this article, all the developments efforts for the PLS MPW14 wiggler are described.
Development of a Beam-Profile Monitor for Cyclotron MC50

A current sensor module was designed and fabricated to measure the beam profile of the cyclotron MC50 at Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences (KIRAMS). The sensors were made of tungsten wire, and they were assembled into an array. The sensor wires were placed in parallel with the incident beam whereas, in the convention method, they are placed in a direction perpendicular to the incident beam. The current output of each sensor was amplified using a trans-resistance amplifier. The front-end stage of this amplifier was implemented using discrete circuit elements and could measure input currents in the range of 1 pA to 1 μA. The amplifier had a resolution of 20 fA, a temperature drift of 0.5 pA/C, and a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 80 dB. Various test results of the amplifier and sensor module assembly are given in this paper. The measured current profiles of the cyclotron beam line at KIRAMS are also given.

풍력을 이용한 풍력발전기의 전력변환 시스템을 개발하기 위해서는 바람의 특성을 정확히 분석하고 이를 대치할 수 있는 모의시험 장치인 시뮬레이터가 필수적이다. 모의시험 장치는 풍향 풍속등의 인자들을 입력받아 회전자 블레이드의 토오크를 전동기가 대신해서 발전기에 공급하게 된다 본 논문에서는 풍력발전 모의시험 장치를 이용하여 750-kW gearless형 풍력발전기의 축소모델인 20-kW 모델 발전기와 고효율의 전력변환 장치 설계 및 인버터 특성을 위한 시험용 지그에서의 시험한 결과를 보이고자 한다.
