Dependence of the intermixing of InGaAs/InGaAsP quantum well on capping layers
Won Jun Choi,Deok Ha Woo,Hee Taek Yi,Jung Il Lee 한국물리학회 2004 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.45 No.3
The dependence of impurity-free vacancy disordering (IFVD) of InGaAs/InGaAsP quantum well (QW) structure with various semiconductor capping layers over the QW structure on the characteristics of the dielectric capping layer was studied by using SiO2 and SiNx lm as capping layers. Thermal treatment of samples has shown that the amount of blue-shift depends not only on the dielectric capping material but also on the semiconductor capping material over the QW structure. It has been shown that a SiNx dielectric capping layer induces larger blue-shift of bandgap than a SiO2 capping layer for any semiconductor capping layer. For the semiconductor capping layer, it has been shown that an InP capping layer induced the largest blue-shift of bandgap and an InGaAs capping layer induced the smallest blue-shift of bandgap. The combination of dielectric-semiconductor capping condition has been proposed in order to obtain the largest dierential bandgap shift spatially.

In this paper, we propose a new technique to suppress the nonlinearity of multiple-quantum-well (MQW) electro-absorption (EA) modulator. The nonlinearity is mainly due to the exponential-like transmission characteristics of the EA modulator and to the nonlinearity of quantum confined stark effect (QCSE). Our new technique suppresses the onlinearity by intermixing the MQW absorption region. The optical properties such as the transition energy and the gain (or bsorption) spectrum and their dependences on the bias voltages applied to the intermixed InGaAs/InGaAsP MQW absorption region have been calculated by solving the Luttinger-Kohn Hamiltonian. We show that the transfer function of a MQW-EA modulator can be tailored by introducing differently intermixed regions along the waveguide direction. We also show that the proposed technique can suppress the IMD2 (2nd-order intermodulation distortion) by 39.6 dB and can enhance spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) by 3.6 dB by choosing a proper combination of interdiffusion lengths and waveguide lengths.
An Unusual Clinical Presentation of Kimura`s Disease Occurring on the Buttock of a Five-year-old Boy

Kimura`s disease is a rare inflammatory disorder of unknown etiology primarily seen in young Asian males. It is characterized by painless subcutaneous masses, blood and tissue eosinophilia, and markedly elevated serum immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels. Clinically, the subcutaneous nodules occur predominantly in the head and neck. However, we report the case of a five-year-old boy presenting with an asymptomatic solitary brown pigmented nodule on the left buttock diagnosed with Kimura`s disease. Here we describe the diagnosis and treatment of this unusual case. (Ann Dermatol 22(1) 57∼60, 2010)
Case Reports : An Unusual Case of Carcinoma Erysipelatoides Originating from Gastric Adenocarcinoma
( Won Jun Choi ),( Mihn Sook Jue ),( Joo Yeon Ko ),( Young Suck Ro ) 대한피부과학회 2011 Annals of Dermatology Vol.23 No.3
Carcinoma erysipelatoides, also known as inflammatory metastatic carcinoma, is a rare form of cutaneous metastasis. It is most commonly caused by breast carcinoma, but rarely associated with gastric adenocarcinoma. Herein, we report an unusual case of carcinoma erysipelatoides in a 55 year-old female who had been diagnosed with signet ring cell carcinoma of the stomach metastasizing to ovaries.
Case Studies on Cultural Differences in TV Advertising: Focus on South Korea and USA
Won-jun Choi,Kyung Mi Bae 인문사회과학기술융합학회 2018 예술인문사회융합멀티미디어논문지 Vol.8 No.11
This study focuses on cultural differences between South Korea and United States in TV advertising by analyzing eight different cases. Cultural differences, while difficult to observe and measure; are very significant that a business can not merely rely on current method of conducting business, when the corporation decides to jump into international level in such competitive world. Despite cultural aspects are vital to grasp, little research has been proceeded, thus this study serves the purpose of utilizing the Hofstede’s cultural dimensions to compare the cultural values of South Korea and the United States to observe the impact of cultural factors regarding commercials. In this study, TV commercials of Hyundai Motors, Samsung Mobile, and Absolute and Soju as cases of liquors are used for comparison between two countries and the commercials of Emart’s world beer and Christian Dior’s Miss Dior are analyzed to reflect the current cultural similarities. Thus, corporation ought to exercise cultural insights to ensure that the developed marketing tactics would generate the necessary reactions required to propel the corporation’s image forward.

The objective of the present experiment was to investigate the effect of dietary palm kernel meal (PKM) and β-xylanase supplementation on productive performance, egg quality, fatty liver incidence, and excreta characteristics in laying hens. A total of 320 Hy-Line Brown laying hens (33 weeks of age) were allotted to 1 of 4 treatments with 8 replicates in a feeding trial. Each replicate consisted of 10 consecutive cages with 1 hen per cage. The corn-soybean meal-based control diet was prepared. Additional diet was prepared by including 10% of PKM in the control diet with a partial replacement of corn, soybean meal, and animal fat. In addition, 0.025% β-xylanase was supplemented at the expense of celite to those 2 diets to produce 4 treatment diets in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement. All hens were provided the diet and water ad libitum for 8 weeks. Results indicated no significant interactions between inclusion of dietary PKM and β-xylanase for all measurements; therefore, the main effects were mainly discussed. Hens fed diets containing 10% PKM had greater (p < 0.05) feed intake and yolk color than those fed diets containing no PKM. However, dietary PKM did not influence fatty liver incidence and excreta characteristics. Dietary β-xylanase supplementation had no effects on all measurements, regardless of inclusion of PKM. In conclusion, PKM can be a potential feed ingredient for laying hens at the inclusion of 10% in the diet. It appears that dietary β-xylanase used in the current experiment has little effect on layer productivity, regardless of inclusion of 10% PKM in the diet.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to prepare evidence for the prevention and management of nonspecific chronic neck pain (NSCNP) by examining the correlation between activity of daily living and physical activities of office workers with NSCNP. Design: Crossed-sectional studyMethods: 89 patients with NSCNP were recruited for this study. But 2 subjects met the exclusion criteria and were dropped out, and 86 subjects finally participated. Numerical pain rating scale (NPRS) and neck disability index (NDI) were used to check the pain intensity and disability of patients with neck pain, respectively. For the activity of daily living, computer use time, sleep time, and driving time were used. To find out the physical activities of the subjects, International Physical Activity Questionnaires (IPAQ-SF) was used. Correlation analysis was performed to find out the correlation of each variable. Results: A clear positive correlation was established between computer use time and pain (p<0.05), and a clear positive correlation was established between computer use time and disability index (p<0.05). The correlation between NPRS and NDI and physical activity total time, high intensity activity score, moderate intensity activity score, and walking score were not statistically significant (p>0.05). Conclusions: In treating patients with NSCNP, it is necessary to reduce the computer usage time as a professional factor or to educate the proper posture. In addition, rather than emphasizing physically comprehensive physical activity, grafting therapeutic exercise directly related to neck pain could have a more positive effect on NSCNP patients.
