The influence of drawing and annealing on the crystallization, viscoelasticity and mechanical properties for middle-molecular-weight polyethylene (MMWPE) fishing monofilaments was investigated. It was found that the drawing procedure had a positive effect on the crystallization of the MMWPE fishing monofilaments. Meanwhile, the glass transition temperature of the MMWPE monofilaments shifted to higher temperature, and the α-relaxation associated with crystalline phases became higher and broader with the increase in the drawing ratio. Moreover, the breaking strength of MMWPE fishing monofilaments can be effectively improved by increasing the drawing ratio. Meanwhile, the knot strength increased first and then decreased. However, the increase in annealing temperature improved the knot strength. With increasing annealing temperature, the orientation factor decreased and induced the γ-relaxation peak at high magnitude. This indicated that the amorphous structure could become disordered during annealing treatment. In addition, the annealing temperature can clearly influence the working temperature dependence of the stress-strain behavior. When the working temperature rose from 20 oC to 30 oC, the MMWPE monofilaments after annealing at 120 oC exhibited low modulus loss due to their high α- transition temperature. Thus, an important method for improving the mechanical properties by controlling the drawing and annealing conditions was established.
Application of Improved Grid Search Algorithm on SVM for Classification of Tumor Gene
Li Wenwen,Xing Xiaoxue,Liu Fu,Zhang Yu 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.9 No.11
According to the merits and shortcomings of the traditional gridsearch algorithm in parameters optimization of support vector machine (SVM), an improved grid search algorithm is proposed. Dichotomous search algorithm is used to reduce target searching range. First, searching range is determined roughly, and a set of parameters are obtained. Then fine search is applied in reduction the range for searching, and searching the optimum parameters.Three kinds of famous tumor gene data set are used in the comparison experiments to validate the classification accuracy of principal component analysis (PCA)-SVM and kernel principal component analysis (KPCA)-SVM. Experiment results and data analysis shows that, comparing with traditional gridsearch algorithm, the proposed method has higher classification accuracy and less search time.

Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) infection has been a public health concern worldwide. It is the leading cause of genital herpes and a contributing factor to cervical cancer and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. No vaccine is available yet for the treatment of HSV-2 infection, and routinely used synthetic nucleoside analogs have led to the emergence of drug resistance. The small molecule Retro-2cycl has been reported to be active against several pathogens by acting on intracellular vesicle transport, which also participates in the HSV-2 lifecycle. Here, we showed that Retro-2.1, which is an optimized, more potent derivative of Retro-2cycl, could inhibit HSV-2 infection, with 50% inhibitory concentrations of 5.58 μM and 6.35 μM in cytopathic effect inhibition and plaque reduction assays, respectively. The cytotoxicity of Retro-2.1 was relatively low, with a 50% cytotoxicity concentration of 116.5 μM. We also preliminarily identified that Retro-2.1 exerted the antiviral effect against HSV-2 by a dual mechanism of action on virus entry and late stages of infection. Therefore, our study for the first time demonstrated Retro-2.1 as an effective antiviral agent against HSV-2 in vitro with targets distinct from those of nucleoside analogs.

For studying the reaction mechanism of the reactions related to NO in the ozone denitration reactions, the harmonic and anharmonic rate constants were calculated by the transition state (TS) theory and Yao and Lin (YL) method. According to above calculations, the reactions of NO with O3 and NO3 play an essential role, and the kinetic parameters considering anharmonic effect were fitted. Furthermore, the rate constants were up as temperature increasing, and the tendencies of high temperature were more gradual than the low temperature. The research will provide theoretical basis for the ozone denitration reactions.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a persistent metabolic disorder marked by defi ciencies in insulin secretion and/orfunction, aff ecting various tissues and organs and leading to numerous complications. Mitochondrial biogenesis, the processby which cells generate new mitochondria utilizing existing ones plays a crucial role in energy homeostasis, glucosemetabolism, and lipid handling. Recent evidence suggests that promoting mitochondrial biogenesis can alleviate insulinresistance in the liver, adipose tissue, and skeletal muscle while improving pancreatic β -cell function. Moreover, enhancedmitochondrial biogenesis has been shown to ameliorate T2DM symptoms and may contribute to therapeutic eff ects for thetreatment of diabetic nephropathy, cardiomyopathy, retinopathy, and neuropathy. This review summarizes the intricate connectionbetween mitochondrial biogenesis and T2DM, highlighting the potential of novel therapeutic strategies targetingmitochondrial biogenesis for T2DM treatment and its associated complications. It also discusses several natural productsthat exhibit benefi cial eff ects on T2DM by promoting mitochondrial biogenesis.

The hydrolysis kinetics of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) was studied in ethanol/water mixed solvents in the temperature range of 339.15-355.15 K, and a three-step hypothesis was proposed to describe the hydrolysis process. The influences of stirring speed, ethanol content and temperature on the hydrolysis of PVB were investigated, and an induction period (IP) phenomenon was found in the process of PVB hydrolysis. The ethanol content in the mixed solvents has a great influence on IP, which is due to the formation of the two kinds of water-ethanol clusters in the system. Temperature influences the IP by changing the catalytic activity of hydroxylamine hydrochloride (HH) on the hydrolysis of PVB. The shrinking core models with three controlling steps were used to fit the kinetic data, and the results indicate that the model controlled by chemical reaction is suitable to describe the kinetic behavior of PVB hydrolysis.

According to the transition state (TS) theory, Gaussian software and Yao and Lin (YL) method, the thermodynamics and kinetic data respectively were calculated, and anharmonic effect was considered for related reactions of NO3. The methods of calculating and fitting kinetic and thermodynamics parameters were provided by least square method and related equations in this paper. Notably, the fitted E of Arrhenius equation was close to the calculated barrier of related reaction by QCISD(T) method. Therefore, the kinetic fitting result can well express the physical meaning of E in Arrhenius equation. Besides, the conversion process and the reaction mechanism of NO3 were researched. For NO3, it seemed that its instability results from its easy reaction with other substances rather than the decompose reaction of itself.

Lysophosphatidic acid acyltransferase (LPAAT) is an intrinsic membrane protein that catalyzes the synthesis of phosphatidic acid (PA) from lysophosphatidic acid (LPA). It is well known that LPAAT is involved in lipid biosynthesis, while its role in tumour progression has been of emerging interest in the last few years. To date, seven members of the LPAAT gene family have been found in human. Here we report a novel LPAAT member, designated as LPAAT-theta, which was 2728 base pairs in length and contained an open reading frame (ORF) encoding 434 amino acids. The LPAAT-theta gene consisted of 12 exons and 11 introns, and mapped to chromosome 4q21.23. LPAAT-theta was ubiquitously expressed in 18 human tissues by RT-PCR analysis. Subcellular localization of LPAAT-theta-EGFP fusion protein revealed that LPAAT-theta was distributed primarily in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) of COS-7 cells. Furthermore, we found that the overexpression of LPAAT-theta can induce mTOR-dependent p70S6K phosphorylation on Thr389 and 4EBP1 phosphorylation on Ser65 in HEK293T cells.

Kumquat is famous for its unique flavor and nutritional value. In this study, the drying kinetics, moisture effective diffusivity, phytochemical properties, and antioxidant capacities of kumquat dried by hot air drying (HAD) and air-impingement jet drying (AIJD) were comparatively investigated. The results showed that drying rate, moisture effective diffusivity, and nutrient retention under AIJD were better than those under HAD. Fourteen polyphenols were identified by UPLC-QqQ-MS/MS in kumquat slices. The content of limonoid was significantly increased after AIJD. It was also found that high temperature contributed to a higher drying rate. However, most of the polyphenol components decreased at high drying temperatures. Accordingly, AIJD 60 °C was regarded as the optimum condition for kumquat drying. This work contributed to a better understanding of the drying character of kumquat under AIJD and showed the bioactive compounds and antioxidant activities are affected by drying methods.
Changes in Properties of White Shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) Protein during Thermal Denaturation

Changes in white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) protein during thermal denaturation were studied using Raman spectroscopy and isotopic H/D exchange. Denaturation of shrimp protein began after heating for 10 min at 50oC. A decrease in the percentage of α-helices accompanied by an increase in the percentage of β-sheets occurred while the total percentage of disordered structures increased. With extension of the exchange time, the relative intensity of the O-D bond increased, accompanied by a higher relative O-D bond intensity for heated shrimp, compared with unheated shrimp. H/D exchange revealed a higher rate of deuteration kinetics in heated shrimp than for unheated shrimp, especially during the first 2 h, consistent with water loss from denatured white shrimp protein. Physical property changes in muscle tissue can be caused by changes in hydrogen bonding and hydrophobicity during thermal processes.
