        Phenotypic Characterization and Multivariate Analysis to Explain Body Conformation in Lesser Known Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) from North India

        Phenotypic characterization and body biometric in 13 traits (height at withers, body length, chest girth, paunch girth, ear length, tail length, length of tail up to switch, face length, face width, horn length, circumference of horn at base, distances between pin bone and hip bone) were recorded in 233 adult Gojri buffaloes from Punjab and Himachal Pradesh states of India. Traits were analysed by using varimax rotated principal component analysis (PCA) with Kaiser Normalization to explain body conformation. PCA revealed four components which explained about 70.9% of the total variation. First component described the general body conformation and explained 31.5% of total variation. It was represented by significant positive high loading of height at wither, body length, heart girth, face length and face width. The communality ranged from 0.83 (hip bone distance) to 0.45 (horn length) and unique factors ranged from 0.16 to 0.55 for all these 13 different biometric traits. Present study suggests that first principal component can be used in the evaluation and comparison of body conformation in buffaloes and thus provides an opportunity to distinguish between early and late maturing to adult, based on a small group of biometric traits to explain body conformation in adult buffaloes.

        Contemplating charge transport by modeling of DNA nucleobases based nano structures

        Electrical charge transport through two basic strands Thymine and Adenine of DNA has been analyzed using jellium model approach. The FFT-2D computations have been performed for semi empirical Extended Huckel Theory using Atomistix Tool kit to contemplate the charge transport metrics like current and conductance. We have scrutinized the behavior of the devices in the range of -2 V–2 V for a step size of 0.2 V. A prominent observation is the drop in HLGs of Adenine and Thymine, when working as device as compared to their intrinsic values and this is comparative more visible in case of Adenine. The current in the thymine based device exhibit linear increase with voltage in spite of having low conductance. Further the broader transmission peaks represent the strong coupling of electrodes to the scattering molecule (Thymine). The NDR effect of Adenine based device for higher bias can be utilized in various future electronics applications.

      • Using the Past to Shape the Future: The Mobilities of Objects and Narratives in the Commemoration of British Railway’s East Coast Main Line

        Since the early 19th century, developments in the British railway industry have been, and continue to be, regularly celebrated through commemorative practices. These acts of remembrance for different elements of the industry’s history are presented through a series of “components” (Papadakis) including celebratory events, material culture, and literature. Crucially, these components are drawn together to create a linear narrative of “progress” that concertinas time between the historic event being remembered and the commemorative event itself. This paper will demonstrate the role of “mobilities” in the context of commemorations of British railways from the mid-19th century to the present. Focusing primarily on elements of the industry’s history connected to Britain’s East Coast Main Line, this paper will demonstrate how the coalescence of the static, the moving, and the metaphorical contribute to the pervasiveness of the mobility of linear narratives of progress over time and space, ultimately erasing the spiderweb trajectories of technological development from popular culture and memory. In doing so, it will consider the deeper relationship between vehicles of mobility and the pathways —or punctuation points—of memory they help stimulate and cement in the public consciousness.

        Comparison of scissor-type knife to non-scissor-type knife for endoscopic submucosal dissection: a systematic review and meta-analysis

        Background/Aims: Scissor-type endoscopic submucosal dissection (ST-ESD) knives can reduce the adverse events associated with ESDs. This study aimed to compare ST-ESD and non-scissor-type (NST)-ESD knives. Methods: We identified ten studies that compared the performance characteristics and safety profiles of ST-ESD and NST-ESD knives. Fixed- and random-effects models were used to calculate the pooled proportions. Heterogeneity was assessed using the I2 test. Results: On comparing ST-ESD knives to NST-ESD knives, the weighted odds of en bloc resection was 1.61 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.90–2.90; p=0.14), R0 resection was 1.10 (95% CI, 0.71–1.71; p=0.73), delayed bleeding was 0.40 (95% CI, 0.17–0.90; p=0.03), perforation was 0.35 (95% CI, 0.18–0.70; p<0.01) and ESD self-completion by non-experts was 1.89 (95% CI, 1.20–2.95; p<0.01). There was no heterogeneity, with an I2 score of 0% (95% CI, 0%–54.40%). Conclusions: The findings of reduced odds of perforation, a trend toward reduced delayed bleeding, and an improvement in the rates of en bloc and R0 resection with ST-ESD knives compared to NST-ESD knives support the use of ST-ESD knives when non-experts perform ESDs or as an adjunct tool for challenging ESD procedures.

        Will psychological empowerment and role satisfaction influence motivation? Evidence from public sector organizations in India

        This paper aims to propose a conceptual model that empirically examines the relationship of psychological empowerment & role satisfaction and their dimensions with motivation in an Indian context. 176 executives/managers from many public sector organizations in India were approached. Cronbach alpha, correlation and regression analyses were applied to check the research hypotheses. Only meaning was found to be important predictor of motivation. Interestingly, achievement and extension were also observed to be the determinants of motivation. This paper would help researchers and practitioners to work on these variables in some other sectors also. Improvement in the psychological empowerment and role satisfaction will enhance the motivation among Indian business executives/managers which will improve the overall performance of the organization. It is an innovative attempt to utilize psychological empowerment and role satisfaction independently to improve motivation in an Indian framework.

        Effect of Alpha-lactalbumin Gene Polymorphism on Milk Production Traits in Water Buffalo

        A genetic study was conducted to elucidate the effect of alpha-Lactalbumin (${\alpha}$-LA) gene polymorphism on milk production traits involving total milk yield and daily milk yield during first lactation in two breeds of water buffaloes namely, Murrah and Bhadawari. Single strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) was carried out to explore genetic polymorphism present at this locus. For this study, exon 1 region of ${\alpha}$-LA was analyzed. Finally, polymorphism data was associated with milk production traits by employing least square analysis. In Murrah buffalo, five genotypes such as AB, BB, BC, CC and CD and four alleles A, B, C and D were detected whereas in Bhadawari buffalo two genotypes namely, AB and BC and three alleles namely, A, B and C were found. Genotypes showed significant effects ($p{\leq}0.05$) on total milk yield and daily milk yield in Bhadawari buffalo but had non-significant effects on these traits in Murrah buffalo.

        Prevalence of dental anxiety in 10-14 years old children and its implications

        Background: The aim of this study was to provide insight on dental fear amongst schoolchildren and evaluate the association between caries experience and fear of dental procedures. Methods: A sample size of 250 students (both sexes) of ages 10-14 years were enrolled in the study. Before dental examination, each participant was informed about the study and given the Children's Fear Survey Schedule - Dental Subscale (CFSS-DS) questionnaire. Children who scored greater than 38 were included in the 'with dental fear' group and those who scored less than 38 were assigned to the 'without dental fear' group. All oral check-ups were carried out on the school premises according to WHO criteria. Results: There were 105 children (42%) who experienced dental fear. As CFSS-DS scores increased, scores on the Decayed, Missing and Filled Surfaces Index (DMFS) also increased. Scores were highest on "injections" followed by "dentist drill" and "feeling of choking". Children were significantly less anxious about items of dental treatment if they had experienced that particular form of treatment. Female participants were found to be more dentally anxious than the male participants. Conclusions: The data revealed dental fear in 10-14 years old children and showed that dental fear scores decreased with increase in age and experience.

        The amount of digital information that is created and used is progressively rising along with the growth of sophisticated hardware and software. In addition, real-world data come in a diversity of forms and can be tremendously bulky. This has augmented the need for powerful algorithms that can deduce and dig out appealing facts and useful information from these data. Text Mining (TM), which is a very complex process; has been successfully used for this purpose. Text mining alternately referred to as text data mining, more or less equivalent to text analytics, can be defined as the process of extracting high-quality information from text. Text mining involves the process of structuring the input data, deriving patterns within the structured data and lastly interpretation and revelation of the output. This paper provides outline on text analytics and social media analytics. At the end, this paper presents our proposed work based on ontology framework to cope up with excessive social media textual data.
