Effect of Oroxylum indicum on intestinal motility in rodents
Joshi, Shrikant V.,Gandhi, Tejal R.,Vyas, Bhavin A.,Shah, Payal D.,Patel, Paras K.,Vyas, Heta G. 경희한의학연구센터 2012 Oriental Pharmacy and Experimental Medicine Vol.12 No.4
Oroxylum indicum is traditional herbal medicine in India, China and Japan used for its anti-diarrhoeal/anti-dysenteric activity, also found to be active against experimentally induced (DNBS induced) inflammatory bowel disease in rats with potential reduction in diarrhoea. It promotes us to evaluate effects of Oroxylum indicum on intestinal motility, both in vitro and in vivo, in rodents. Flavonoids rich fraction of O. indicum was obtained and the effect of extract on contraction of acetylcholine, barium chloride and electrical field stimulation was studied on isolated rabbit ileum. Anti-diarrhoeal activities were investigated using castor oil and magnesium sulphate-induced diarrhoeal models in mice. Effect on intestinal motility was studied using gastrointestinal motility and antienteropooling assay methods. Antimicrobial activity of extract was evaluated using disc diffusion assay method. Extract inhibited the contractions induced by acetylcholine, barium chloride and electrical field stimulation. Verapamil potentiates inhibitory effect of extract. Extract showed significant and dose-dependent antidiarrhoeal effect devoid of altering gastrointestinal motility in normal animals. It also inhibited the microbial growth in disc diffusion assay method. Extract normalized intestinal motility altered by inflammatory stimulus and possesses antidiarrhoeal activity. Alteration of intestinal motility may involve modification in L-type $Ca^{2+}$ channels.

An efficient synthesis of 1,5-Benzothiazepines via Michael addition of corresponding (E)-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-3-(4-(phenylthio)phenyl)prop-2-en-1-one is described under ultrasound irradiation. A series of novel 2-((E)-2,3-dihydro-2-(4-(phenylthio)phenyl)benzo[b][1,4]thiazepin-4-yl)phenol derivatives was confirmed on the basis of 1H NMR, Mass, IR spectral data and Elemental analysis. The synthesized compounds were evaluated for their antimicrobial activities. Most of the compounds were found to be comparable potent than the reference standard drugs. Utilization of ultrasound irradiation, simple reaction conditions, isolation, and purification makes this manipulation very interesting from an economic and environmental perspective.
Real Time System for Student Fatigue Detection during Online Learning
Kinjal V Joshi,Azim Kangda,Sunny Patel 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.9 No.3
At the present learning through online video is very popular. But there is no way to de-termine whether student is actually watching video or not. In this paper, an algorithm for real time eye state classification using simple web-cam is presented. Here one application is developed in which eyes of the person seated in-front of camera are detected using classifier. Four different eye positions: looking straight, looking left, looking upward and looking right are classified with the help of K-means clustering of the features of detected eyes. Here looking downward is not considered because it seems closed eyes and when closed eyes are detected the video will automatically pause. This approach is also used to detect constant gaze towards screen to prevent Computer Vision Syndrome. Another application of eye detection and eye state classification is to detect driver fatigue during driving. The experimental results prove the effectiveness of the presented meth-ods.Given that two eyes are detected in a face; the system classifies the eye-states with an accuracy of 95%.

Tibial cyst formation following the use of bioabsorbable interference screws in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is well-described; however, cyst formation after the use of metallic interference screws is not well-documented. We describe a case of osteolytic lesion of the proximal tibia presenting to us 20 years after ACL reconstruction using an autologous bone-tendon-bone graft. The original graft fixation technique was interference fixation with a metal screw in the tibial and femoral tunnels. A two-stage revision reconstruction of the ACL was undertaken with curettage and bone grafting of the tibial lesion in the first stage and reconstruction using a four-strand hamstring tendon in the second stage. The patient recovered satisfactorily with complete healing of the cyst and returned to pre-injury level of activities. We have reviewed case reports and case series that describe the aetiology of intra-osseous cyst formation following ACL reconstruction.

We report the propagation of sound waves in a suspension of dense thermo-responsive poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide) (PNIPAM) microgels as a function of temperature using Brillouin light scattering. In the dense PNIPAM microgel glass, a single longitudinal acoustic (LA) mode is found to propagate at the velocity intermediate between that of polymer and water phases, and is attributed to the sound wave propagating through the water-microgel composite media. The LA mode shows two interesting features with respect to temperature: i) frequency of LA mode increases upon increase in temperature with anomalous behavior in the vicinity of glass transition and volume phase transition temperatures, ii) the width of LA mode shows minimum near volume phase transition temperature. These observations are attributed to the variation of size and elasticity of PNIPAM microgel particles with temperature. At room temperature the static and dynamic light scattering (DLS) studies on dense PNIPAM microgel suspension confirm a glassy state. In addition, DLS is used to identify the volume phase transition of microgels and glass transition of dense suspension. These temperatures corresponding to glass transition and volume phase transition are found to be consistent with that obtained from Brillouin light scattering results.

A new series of 1-(5-(2-tolyloxyquinoline-3-yl)-2-(pyridine-4-yl)-1,3,4-oxidiazol-3(2H)-yl)ethanones were synthesized from cyclisation of N'-((2-(p-tolyloxy)quinoline-3-yl)methylene) isonitonohydrazide in acetic unhydride at reflux condition for 3-4 hr. The structures of the new compounds were confirmed by elemental analyses as well as IR, 1H NMR and mass spectral data. All the synthesized compounds were screened for their antibacterial activities against various bacterial strains. Several of these compounds showed potential antibacterial activity.

A convenient synthesis of substituted [1,2,4]-triazolo [1',2':1,2]pyrimido[6,5-b]-quinoline 4(a-i) from substituted 2-chloroquinoline-3-carbaldehyde 1(a-i) and 4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-amine 2 by using $SiO_2/K_2CO_3$ under microwave irradiation. This method affords the [1,2,4]-Triazolo [1',2':1,2]pyrimido[6,5-b]-quinoline 4(a-i) under the influence of microwave irradiation in solvent-free conditions within short span (12 - 20 min), & gaves excellent yields (89 - 95%). All the synthesized compounds were further screened for their antibacterial activities. Some of our compounds showed excellent antibacterial activities against control drugs.
