Evaluation of Feeding a Fibrolytic Enzyme to Lactating Dairy Cows on Their Lactational Performance during Early Lactation

Titi, H.H. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2003 Animal Bioscience Vol.16 No.5

Twenty eight multiparous lactating cows were utilized in an experiment to evaluate the response to an exogenous fibrolytic enzyme on their lactational performance during early lactation period (in terms of milk production, milk composition, feed intake, milking efficiency, body weight change) and the exact time of this response. Cows were randomized into two groups (14 each) with similar parities and were fed a concentrate ration of barley, ground corn, soybean meal, and wheat bran and roughage ration of alfalfa hay. One of the two groups was supplemented with the fibrolytic enzyme immediately after parturition up to 100 post partum. The experiment was of two phases with 50 days each. The enzyme, which has a cellulase/hemicellulase activity (derived from Trichoderma group), was added to the concentrate part of the ration in a dry powder form. Milk production, 3.5% fat corrected milk, energy corrected milk were higher (p<0.05) for cows fed treated diet. At the same time, No differences were observed in percentages of milk components, feed intake, body weight, body weight change, or rectal temperature for the whole experimental period or during any of the two phases. Efficiency of milk production was higher (p<0.05) for treatment group cows than for that of the control ones. However, efficiency was better during the second phase than during the first phase. Feeding enzyme treated diets to dairy cows improved lactational performance during early 100 day of the lactation period. However, the first 50 days of lactation looked to be the critical.

Comparison of the Effect of Cold Fluid and Crushed Ice Ingestion on Thermoregulatory Responses during Physical Activity in a Simulated Hot-Humid Environment

        Titis Wijayanto,Valentina Kunti Bratadew,Ghani Furqon Abdul Rahma,Moony Sinawang,Harendra Surya Prakasa 대한산업공학회 2019 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.18 No.4

It has been reported that internal precooling via fluid ingestion is useful for hyperthermia prevention during exercise;however, its application in the occupational setting is unclear. This study aims to compare the effect of pre-coolingusing cold fluid and crushed ice ingestion on thermoregulatory responses during simulated occupational activity in ahot and humid environment. Nine healthy males completed treadmill exercise for 30-min at an intensity of 65% ofpredetermined HRmax in a chamber set at 36.6±0.8ºC of air temperature and 72±6% of relative humidity. Before theexercise, they preceded ingested 7.5 ml kg-1 body mass of cold drink (4ºC), crushed ice (-2ºC), or mineral water(28ºC) for pre-cooling. Ingesting crushed ice before the activity significantly lowered the pre-activity tympanic temperature than the cold beverage. Also, crushed ice ingestion showed more significant effects in lowering heart rate andimproving heat sink at the post-activity phase compared to cold beverage ingestion. These findings suggest thatcrushed ice ingestion may be more practical to minimize physiological and subjective thermal strain during occupational activity than ingesting cold fluid.

      • ARCHIPELAGO TOURISM BETWEEN UTILIZATION AND DEVELOPMENT IN KARIMUNJAWA NATIONAL PARK AREA

Destha Titi Raharjana 세계문화관광학회 2009 Conference Proceedings Vol.10 No.0

Karimunjawa Archipelago which is situated in Jepara Regency, Central Java Province, is one of the marine national parks in Indonesia. This paper tries to analyze the utilization and development pattern of marine resources and their relationship with the development of tourism in Karimunjawa. This area is very susceptible to direct exploitation or exploitation that does not have any benefit for the marine resources. The development into ecotourism is believed to be able to provide socio-economic benefits. However, there are still many things in the development of tourism that need to be improved, not only in relation to the attraction aspect and access, but also, which is much more important, to the preparation of the Karimunjawa people to act as subject, instead of object.

Advancing an Automated Algorithm for Estimating Rebar Quantities in Columns

Rachmawati, Titi Sari Nurul,Widjaja, Daniel Darma,Kim, Sunkuk The Korean Institute of Building Construction 2023 한국건축시공학회지 Vol.23 No.4

Manual estimation of rebar quantities by contractors often yields discrepancies between projected and actual amounts used in the construction phase, leading to cost inaccuracies and potential logistical challenges. To address these issues, there is a clear need for a method that allows precise estimation of rebar quantities during the design phase. Such a method would enhance contractor competitiveness during project bids, promote accurate cost calculations, and avert superfluous rebar purchases on-site. Given that columns are the primary structural components in reinforced concrete(RC) buildings and necessitate considerable amounts of rebar, this study focuses on creating an automated algorithm for estimating column rebar quantities. An analysis of the accurate quantities obtained via the study and those derived from manual estimation reveals a discrepancy of 0.346 tons or 2.056%. This comparison affirms the proposed algorithm's efficacy in eliminating errors from overestimation or underestimation of rebar quantities. The practical implications of this study are significant for construction companies as it fosters efficient and precise estimation of rebar quantities, ensuring compliance with related specifications and governing regulations.

Predictor of Liver Biochemistry Improvement in Patients with Cytomegalovirus Cholestasis after Ganciclovir Treatment

        Gina Puspita,Titis Widowati,Agung Triono 대한소아소화기영양학회 2022 Pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology & nutrition Vol.25 No.1

Purpose: Cholestasis resulting from cytomegalovirus (CMV)-induced hepatitis manifests in 40% of patients with a CMV infection. Ganciclovir treatment in children with CMV infections has proven to be highly effective. Until now, there are very few studies have identified predictive factors for liver biochemistry improvement after ganciclovir therapy. This study aimed to identify the predictors of liver biochemistry improvement in patients with CMV cholestasis after ganciclovir treatment. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted using medical records from Dr. Sardjito General Hospital Yogyakarta, Indonesia from 2013 to 2018. CMV cholestasis was confirmed based on serum CMV IgG and IgM positivity and/or blood and urine CMV antigenemia positivity. Incomplete medical records and other etiologies for cholestasis, such as biliary atresia, choledochal cyst, metabolic diseases, and Alagille syndrome, were excluded. Patient age at cholestasis diagnosis and ganciclovir treatment, duration of CMV cholestasis, history of prematurity, central nervous system involvement, and nutritional status were analyzed and presented as an odds ratio (OR) with a 95% confidence interval (95% CI). Results: CMV cholestasis with ganciclovir therapy was found in 41 of 54 patients. Multivariate analysis showed that a shorter duration of CMV cholestasis (OR: 4.6, 95% CI: 1.00-21.07, p=0.04) was statistically significant for liver biochemistry improvement after 1 month of ganciclovir treatment. The remaining factors that were analyzed were not significant predictors of liver biochemistry improvement in patients with CMV cholestasis after ganciclovir treatment. Conclusion: A shorter duration of CMV cholestasis is the predictor of liver biochemistry improvement after 1 month gancyclovir treatment.

Investigating Structural Stability and Constructability of Buildings Relative to the Lap Splice Position of Reinforcing Bars

        Widjaja, Daniel Darma,Rachmawati, Titi Sari Nurul,권희훈,김선국 한국건축시공학회 2023 한국건축시공학회지 Vol.23 No.3

The design principles and implementation of rebar lap splice in architectural structures are governedby building regulations. Nevertheless, the minimization of rebar-cutting waste (RCW) is often impededby the mandatory requirements pertaining to the rebar lapping zone as prescribed in design codes. Inreal-world construction scenarios, compliance with these rules often falls short due to hurdlesconcerning productivity, quality, safety, time, and cost. This discrepancy between code stipulationsand on-the-ground construction practices necessitates an academic exploration. The goal of thisresearch was to delve into the effect of rebar lap splice placement on the robustness and constructabilityof building edifices. The study initially took on a review of the computation of rebar lappinglength and the rules revolving around the lapping zone. Following this, a structural robustness andconstructability examination was undertaken, focusing on adherence to the lap splice zone. Theinterpretations and deductions of the research led to the following insights: (1) the efficacy of rebar lapsplice is not solely contingent on the moment, and (2) the implementation of rebar lap splice beyondthe specified zone can match the structural integrity and robustness of those confined within thedesignated area. As a result, the constraints on the rebar lapping zone ought to be revisited andpossibly relaxed. The conclusions drawn from this research are anticipated to reconcile the disconnectbetween building codes and practical construction conditions, furnishing invaluable academicsubstantiation to further the endeavor of achieving near-zero RCW.
