<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Herein we report on the growth of layered BiI<SUB>3</SUB> nanoplates materials and their sensing properties of NO<SUB>2</SUB> under violet light illumination. The BiI<SUB>3</SUB> nanoplates were grown on a glass substrate using a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) system, with an average thickness of 30 nm and the lateral dimension of 150–170 nm. Their photo-induced sensing response for 20 ppm NO<SUB>2</SUB> and the response/recovery time are approximately ~11.2% and 18/36 s, respectively. The limit of detection (LOD) of NO<SUB>2</SUB> for the BiI<SUB>3</SUB> sensor is 25 ppb. A possible light-induced gas-sensing mechanism was proposed and investigated for the BiI<SUB>3</SUB> nanoplate.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Traditionally, students from the Southern world tend to cross their national borders to study abroad. However, in recent times, we have observed a trend in which more and more students, both full-time and short-term, select Southern countries as destinations for overseas education. This paper contributes to the sparse literature on the above phenomenon, examining the case of Vietnam. We surveyed 50 universities and colleges about their international student profiles (including statistics and nationalities) and their strategies for attracting international students. The findings of this study provide implications for Vietnam's policymakers and university/college leaders and other Southern countries when implementing the internationalization of tertiary education.

This paper evaluates outage probability (OP) and intercept probability (IP) of physical-layer security based MIMO networks adopting cooperative jamming (Coop-Jam). In the considered scenario, a multi-antenna source communicates with a multi-antenna destination employing transmit antenna selection (TAS)/ selection combining (SC), in presence of a multi-antenna eavesdropper using SC. One of jammers appearing near the destination is selected for generating jamming noises on the eavesdropper. Moreover, the destination supports the wireless energy for the chosen jammer, and cooperates with it to remove the jamming noises. We consider two jammer selection approaches, named RAND and SHORT. In RAND, the destination randomly selects the jammer, and in SHORT, the jammer, which is nearest to the destination, is chosen. We derive exact and asymptotic expressions of OP and IP over Rayleigh fading, and perform Monte-Carlo simulations to verify the correction of our derivation. The results present advantages of the proposed RAND and SHORT methods, as compared with the corresponding one without using Coop-Jam.
Energy Management for Mobile Virtual Desktop Infrastructure in Mobile Cloud Environment

최근 모바일 가상 데스크톱 인프라(mobile virtual desktop infrastructure)이 모바일 장치에서 클라우드 자원을 활용하기 위한 해결 방법으로 등장하였다. 가상 머신을 원격으로 조정함으로써 컴퓨팅 작업이 모바일 장치에서 처리되는 대신 데이터 센터로 옮겨가게 되었다. 그러나 모바일 장치로 원격 데스크톱 서비스를 이용하는 것은 PC에서와는 달리 전화 통화, 메시지, 배터리, wifi/3G, 운영체제, 오류 등의 이유로 잠시 접속이 끊어질 수 있다. 에너지 소비 절약을 위하여 이와 같이 모바일 장치가 다시 서비스를 제공하기 전까지 동작하고 있는 가상 머신들은 절전 상태로 변경될 필요가 있다. 그리하여 본 논문에서 우리는 데이터 센터의 가상 머신 상태를 관리하기 위한 에너지 정책을 제안하였다. 성능 평가를 위한 시뮬레이션을 통해서 제안하는 관리 방법이 모바일 클라우드 환경에서 약 74.5%의 에너지 절약을 할 수 있음을 보였다. Recently, mobile virtual desktop infrastructure (mVDI) has emerged as a solution for mobile devices to utilize cloud resources. By remotely controlling virtual machines (VMs), all heavy computing tasks are moved to data center instead of processing at mobile devices. However, using remote desktop service by mobile devices is different from by PC; remote services can be temporarily disconnected by phone call, message, battery, wifi/3G, OS errors, etc. To save energy consumption, those running VMs should be changed to lower power states until mobile devices resume services. In this paper, we propose an energy efficiency policy to manage VMs states in data center. The simulation results show that our solution can save around 74.5% energy consumption in mobile cloud environment.
A Novel Approach for Optimal Multimedia Data Distribution in Mobile Cloud Computing

<P>With the integration of mobile computing and cloud computing, more diverse services can be provided to the users, supporting the mobility feature of mobile computing along with the power of cloud computing. This new paradigm still faces challenges, especially in terms of performance. When it comes to multimedia data communication, thin clients (such as smart phones and tablets) suffer because of performance and power constraints. Previously done studies have trivially addressed this problem. Therefore, in our paper, we present a framework in which thick clients (laptop or desktop computers) are incorporated into mobile cloud paradigm with attention paid to user mobility. Its objective is to optimize the distribution of multimedia content between the cloud and the thin clients. Our work comes up with both numerical analysis and simulation to justify the validity and the effectiveness of the proposal approach.</P>
