<P>A Zr-based metal-organic framework with tetrakis(carboxyphenyl)porphyrin groups (Zr-MOF-TCPP: MOF-525) has been utilized as a photoredox catalyst to promote oxidative hydroxylation of arylboronic acids under green LED light irradiation. Zr-MOF-TCPP displays a superior catalytic activity for this process over the corresponding homogeneous catalyst (H4TCPP).</P>

<P>A catalytically competent Cu species has been immobilized within the framework of a Zr-based metal–organic framework with bipyridine units, Zr-MOF-bpy, by a simple postsynthetic modification method from CuBr<SUB>2</SUB> (Zr-MOF-bpy-CuBr<SUB>2</SUB>) and used for the selective oxidation of cyclooctene to cyclooctene oxide. Zr-MOF-bpy was synthesized by a simple solvothermal method and was shown to have a UiO-type structure. Diffuse reflectance UV–vis and XAFS measurements have revealed that the immobilized Cu species has a square-planar geometry of two N atoms and two Br atoms. Zr-MOF-bpy-CuBr<SUB>2</SUB> catalyzed the selective oxidation of cyclooctene to cyclooctene oxide with high activity and selectivity in the presence of <I>tert</I>-butyl hydroperoxide as an oxidant. In addition, the catalytic ability of Zr-MOF-bpy-CuBr<SUB>2</SUB> was demonstrated to be superior to that of the corresponding homogeneous catalyst ((bpy)CuBr<SUB>2</SUB>). Objective: Human papillomavirus subtypes are predictive indicators of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) progression. While colposcopy is also an essential part of cervical cancer prevention, its accuracy and reproducibility are limited because of subjective evaluation. This study aimed to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm that can accurately detect the optimal lesion associated with prognosis using colposcopic images of CIN2 patients by utilizing objective AI diagnosis. Methods: We identified colposcopic findings associated with the prognosis of patients with CIN2. We developed a convolutional neural network that can automatically detect the rate of high-grade lesions in the uterovaginal area in 12 segments. We finally evaluated the detection accuracy of our AI algorithm compared with the scores by multiple gynecologic oncologists. Results: High-grade lesion occupancy in the uterovaginal area detected by senior colposcopists was significantly correlated with the prognosis of patients with CIN2. The detection rate for high-grade lesions in 12 segments of the uterovaginal area by the AI system was 62.1% for recall, and the overall correct response rate was 89.7%. Moreover, the percentage of high-grade lesions detected by the AI system was significantly correlated with the rate detected by multiple gynecologic senior oncologists (r=0.61). Conclusion: Our novel AI algorithm can accurately determine high-grade lesions associated with prognosis on colposcopic images, and these results provide an insight into the additional utility of colposcopy for the management of patients with CIN2.

<P>An iron-based metal-organic framework, MIL-101(Fe), promotes photocatalytic water oxidation to produce oxygen from aqueous silver nitrate solution under visible-light irradiation. The finely dispersed iron-oxo clusters embedded as nodes of the porous framework would contribute importantly to the efficient promotion of the reaction as compared to bulk hematite (alpha-Fe2O3).</P>

Background/Aims: The frequency and details of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) complications in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) remain unclear. This study aimed to clarify characteristics of NAFLD in patients with IBD.Methods: We retrospectively identified and enrolled patients with IBD diagnosed with or without NAFLD by undergoing abdominal computed tomography (CT) at our institution between 2005 and 2020. The primary endpoint was the complication rate of NAFLD in patients with IBD. Secondary endpoints were the clinical characteristics of nonobese patients with IBD and comorbid NAFLD and their association with nutritional and inflammatory parameters.Results: Twenty-one (21.9%) of 96 eligible patients with IBD also had NAFLD. In nonobese patients (defined as patients with a body mass index <25 kg/m<sup>2</sup>), C-reactive protein (CRP; <i>P</i><0.001) and alanine aminotransferase (<i>P</i>=0.018) levels were higher and the albumin level (<i>P</i>=0.005) and prognostic nutritional index (PNI; <i>P</i>=0.002) values were lower in patients with NAFLD than in those without NAFLD. The PNI value was positively correlated (<i>P</i><0.001) and the CRP level was negatively correlated (<i>P</i>=0.001) with the hepatosplenic ratio. However, in the NAFLD combined group, PNI (<i>P</i><0.05) and CRP values (<i>P</i><0.001) were improved over time after CT imaging by continuing IBD treatment.Conclusions: Worsening nutritional and inflammatory status in IBD patients is associated with complications of NAFLD. Diagnosis of NAFLD in IBD patients using CT imaging might be useful not only for early detection of NAFLD but also in assessing the need for therapeutic intervention for IBD.
