Antiviral activity of Alpinia katsumadai extracts against rotaviruses

In vitro anti-rotavirus activity of Alpinia katsumadai (AK) extracts were evaluated against bovine G8P[7] and porcine G5P[7] rotaviruses in two different assay strategies, a mixed treatment assay and a post treatment assay. In the mixed treatment assay, six AK extracts [AK-1 (EtOH extract), AK-3 (H<SUB>2</SUB>O layer), AK-5 (40% methanol fraction), and AK-9-11 (H<SUB>2</SUB>O extract, polysaccharide fraction, supernatant fraction)] exhibited inhibitory activities against G5P[7] rotavirus with the EC<SUB>50</SUB> values ranging from 0.7+/-0.4 to 33.7+/-6.5μg/mL. Extracts AK-1, AK-3, and AK-5 inhibited rotavirus infection against G8P[7] rotavirus, the with EC<SUB>50</SUB> values of 8.4+/-2.2μg/mL, 6.5+/-0.8μg/mL and 8.4+/-5.0μg/mL, respectively. By hemagglutination inhibition (HI) assay, six AK extracts completely inhibited viral adsorption onto human RBCs in both strains of rotaviruses at less than 11μg/mL. However, in the post treatment assay, there was no anti activity shown against both strains of rotaviruses. As a result, six AK extracts were attributed mainly to having a strong interaction with hemagglutinin protein on the outer surface of rotavirus, resulting to blockage of viral adsorption.
제일원리계산방법에 의한 결정 구조에 따른 덩치 망간의 전자 구조와 자성 변화 연구 : 면심입방과체심입방 구조의 망간 fcc and bcc Mn

덩치 망간의 평형상태에서의 결정구조와 자성 구조는 아주 복잡한 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 자성 연구에서 가장 적합한 방법으로 알려져 있는 Full-potential Linearized Augmented Plane Wave(FLAPW) 방법을 사용하여 격자상수의 함수로 면심입방 Mn과 체심입방 Mn의 계산 가능한 자성 상태(상자성, 강자성, 반강자성 상태)의 총에너지를 계산하여 결정구조에 따른 Mn의 자성 변화를 연구하였다. 계산 결과, 면심입방 Mn은 반강자성 상태가 안정하고 체심입방 Mn은 강자성상태가 안정한 것으로 밝혀졌다. 면심입방 Mn과 체심입방 Mn의 평형상태의 격자상수는 각각 6.750, 5.314 a.u. 이었고 자기모멘트는 1.15 μ_B과 0.85 μ_B인 것으로 계산되었다. 면심입방의 경우는 강자성 상태가, 체심입방의 경우는 반강자성 상태가 전혀 안정되지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. Manganese is known to have a very complicated crystal structure due to its complex magnetism. In this study we investigated the magnetism of fee and bcc Mn as functions of lattice constants, using Full-potential Linearized Augmented Plane Wave(FLAPW) method and assuming para-, ferro-, and antifcrro-magnetic states. The anti ferromagnetic and ferromagnetic states were calculated to be energetically stable for fee Mn and bcc Mn, respectively. The lattice constants of fee and bcc Mn at equilibrium are 6.750 and 5.314 a.u. and the magnetic moments are 1.15 and 0.85 μ_B, respectively. The ferro- and antiferro-magnetic states are so unstable (not even metastable) that the states were converged to the other magnetic states in self-consistent calculations.

ABSTRACT Long chain free fatty acid (FFA) are the main energy source for many mammalian cell, and FFA metabolism is dependent upon the flux of FFA to sites of intra-cellular processing. Fatty Acid Binding Proteins (FABPs) are a family of abundant cytosolic proteins of low M.W.14-15 kDa. Although their precise physilogical role remains hypothetical, it has been proposed as a FFA transfer protein and as a binding protein responsible for controlling intracellular FFA concentration. Furthermore, significant correlations have been observed between the tissue content of FABP and the rate of FFA uptake or utilization in several different manipulations such as diet and hypolipidemic drugs. However, to date there has been no report which examines the role of FABP in physiological manipulations such as fatty liver, diabetes, obesity, hypercholesterolemia. Since lipid metabolism is abnormal and the liver is greatly affected in these disease, it is possible that FABP may be abnormal in these livers. Therefore, the realtionships of liver FABP and the disease with lipid abnormalities, especially fatty liver induced by alcohol and high cholesterol diet are examined in our lab. Where FABP is believed to be involved in FFA binding and transfer, cellular FABP amount as well as its binding activity are affected. If we further find the way to increase the expression of FABP in liver, it could be one means of settle for these kinds of diseases from lipid abnormality.
공진형 FB DC-DC 컨버터의 정출력 제어에 관한 연구

Due to the development of information communication field not only the industrial electric machinrye but also the electronic·communication machinry including the computer and satelite, the interests for SMPS are increasing. Thus the low loss converter which can be operated in high speed switching is require. In this paper, a control strategy for the constant output power of resonant FB DC-DC converter in variable input voltage is proposed. The proposed control of system is I-PD type control applying type 1 digital system. The output voltage tracks the reference without any steady state error even in variable input voltage. The validity of proposed control strategy is verified by simulations using PSIM.
