Geothermal heat pump type hot air dryer is being developed. For drying temperature 40~70℃, drying factor becomes 1.8 kg/kWh which is about 2.6 times greater than that of electric heater type dryer, for all year round. Further more, additional function of geothermal heat pump type hot air dryer like cooling and heating by ground loop water, can improve the economic efficiency of ground coupled system.
Fast Belief Propagation for Segmentation

For the segmentation, there are mainly typical cut and normalization cut among the graph based techniques which show good results due to the approximated global methods on the 2D MRF. Toward a real-time color image segmentation, we will present a high-speed and parallel fast belief propagation(FBP) algorithm which is based on the GBP’s typical cut method. At N by M 2D MRF image and T iterations, O(NMT) time complexity can be reduced to O(MT) with N Processors and it has a smaller distributed memory resources O(NT) than typical cut’s O(NM), due to the small T. With a linear systolic array structure, we can increase the computational speed by the cascaded parallel processors.
Real-time Global Stereo Matching Implementation On FPGA

There are growing needs in stereo vision applications for accuracy, fast calculation, and compact hardware implementation. The global matching techniques based on belief propagation (BP) show robust results with low error rates. However, BP has enormous time and memory complexity that obstruct realization of real-time systems. We present a new parallel architecture with high memory efficiency. The architecture was designed by HDL code and implemented in FPGA chip. With 160 processors that fully operate in parallel, our system is capable of processing video frame with size of 160 480 × at the speed of 15 frames per second. Overall memory usage was reduced 19 times from BP, and average disparity errors were same as BP.

<P>Translation of many cellular and viral mRNAs is directed by internal ribosomal entry sites (IRESs). Several proteins that enhance IRES activity through interactions with IRES elements have been discovered. However, the molecular basis for the IRES-activating function of the IRES-binding proteins remains unknown. Here, we report that NS1-associated protein 1 (NSAP1), which augments several cellular and viral IRES activities, enhances hepatitis C viral (HCV) IRES function by facilitating the formation of translation-competent 48S ribosome–mRNA complex. NSAP1, which is associated with the solvent side of the 40S ribosomal subunit, enhances 80S complex formation through correct positioning of HCV mRNA on the 40S ribosomal subunit. NSAP1 seems to accomplish this positioning function by directly binding to both a specific site in the mRNA downstream of the initiation codon and a 40S ribosomal protein (or proteins).</P>

<P>The tribological performance of total hip arthroplasty has an important influence on its success rate. This study examined the concentration-dependent role of hyaluronic acid (HA) and phospholipid (dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine, DPPC) in the boundary lubricating ability of retrieved cobalt-chromium femoral heads. The microscale frictional coefficients (μ) were measured by atomic force microscopy using a rectangular silicon cantilever integrated with sharp silicon tips. In the case of HA lubricant, the frictional coefficients decreased significantly at concentrations of 2.0 (0.16??0.03) and 3.5?mg/ml (0.11??0.01) while increased at 5.0?mg/ml (0.15??0.01), compared to that with phosphate buffer saline (0.25??0.03). The concentration-dependent lubrication behavior of DPPC was most effective when DPPC was in the physiological concentration range, showing μ?=?0.16??0.01 in polypropylene glycol, and 0.05??0.01, 0.02??0.01, and 0.03??0.01 at a DPPC concentration of 0.05, 0.2, and 3.0?mg/ml, respectively. Results obtained show significant differences between the DPPC concentration groups. Conclusively, the microscale frictional response of the retrieved CoCr femoral head has a significant dependence on the concentrations of HA and DPPC. Moreover, observed optimal concentration of HA and DPPC for effective lubrication is similar to that observed in normal human synovial fluid. Therefore, a retrieval of the synovia may be considered during total hip replacement surgeries in an effort for reduction of friction between head and liner of total hip replacement implants.</P>
Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor of the Kidney and Spine in an Infant

Rhabdoid tumor of the kidney (RTK) is a rare malignancy in infancy. Central nervous system involvement in RTK is already known. However, solitary spinal metastasis in RTK has been hardly reported. The authors report a case of metastatic RTK to spine causing paraplegia in an 8-month-old girl. Since the patient was young, the diagnosis of spine metastasis was delayed until paraplegia was seen after radical nephrectomy. Thorough neurological examination should be performed for early diagnosis of spinal metastasis in young patients with RTK. If there are any abnormal signs in neurologic examination, magnetic resonance images of brain and spine are recommended.

문서분할이란 주제별로 문서의 경계를 결정하는 작업으로, 정확하고 효율적인 정보검색, 문서요약에 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 단어의 반복(repetition)과 트리거 패어(trigger pair)를 이용한 자동 문서 분할 시스템을 구현하고자 한다. 트리거 패어는 두 단어간 연상(聯想)관계를 나타내는 것으로, 단어의 반복과 더불어 문서의 응집도(lexical cohesion)를 강화한다. 또한 트리거 패어는 주제를 강하게 암시할 수 있으므로 문서를 나누는 것 뿐만 아니라 나누어진 문서의 주제까지도 파악이 가능하다. 문서 분할 실험 결과, 단어의 반복과 트리거 패어를 함께 이용하여 정확률 12%의 성능향상을 가져왔다.

현재 감시 시스템이 다양한 목적으로 은행, 기업체, 및 주요 관공서등에서 설치, 운영되고 있으나, 대부분이 아날로그 방식이거나 표준 MPEG-1 Video 알고리즘을 그대로 적용한 시스템을 사용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 MPEG-1 Video 부호화중 가장 시간 소비가 많은 움직임 예측 부분에 감시시스템(CCTV)의 특징중의 하나인 고정 배경을 갖는 특성을 적용한다. 즉, 프레임마다 움직임이 있는 마크로블록에 대해서만 기존의 알고리즘(FS알고리즘)을 적용하여 움직임 벡터를 찾고, 그 이외의 고정 배경과 같다고 판단되는 마크로블록의 움직임 벡터를 0으로 간주하여 프레임단위에서 MPEG-1 Video 부호화 시간을 단축할수 있음을 보인다. 특히, PC기반의 S/W만으로 부호화하는 감시 시스템에 적용시 효율적이라 본다.

그리프는 전산학의 주요 주제 중 하나이며 World Wide Web과 Social Network의 중요성이 커지면서 더욱 주목을 받고 있다. 그래프와 관련하여 그래프 데이터베이스에 대한 질의 모델에 관한 연구도 중요하게 다루어져 왔다. 하지만 이들 연구는 패턴 매칭을 통한 질의를 주로 다투었다. 하지만 그래프 데이터를 추천이나 검색 등의 응용하기 위해서는 PageRank 등 그래프 내의 연결 구조를 양으로 분석해내는 작업이 요구된다. 또한 SimRank 및 Random Walk with Restart 등 다양한 양적 분석 측도가 제안되고 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 Random Walk를 기반으로 하는, 그래프에 대한 유연한 양적 분석을 지원하는 질의 언어를 제시한다. 또한 기존의 양적 분석 측도들이 본 질의 모델을 통하여 어떻게 표현되는지를 통하여 본 질의 모델의 유용성 및 확장성을 보인다.
