        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Corrosion behaviors of the friction welded dissimilar aluminum alloys were investigated to understand how galvanic effect plays a role in altering corrosion properties of the dissimilar weld. From the fact that the weld had the similar OCP value to that of AA2017, it can be inferred that the corrosion characteristics of the weld is under the control of the AA2017 part in the weld and as a result, only the AA2017 part in the weld had experienced severe corrosion, leaving AA6063 under cathodic protection. Intense corrosion occurring near the interface implies that the area near the interface is placed under the effect of galvanic corrosion and there was the effective distance where the galvanic effect exerts an impact due to the increase in the resistance of the electrolyte with the distance from the interface. The disappearance of Warburg diffusion plot in Nyquist plots for the weld seemed to be the breakdown of the passivation layer related to the formation of the micro-galvanic cell, which in turn presented the shrinkage in the capacitance response, indicating that charge reactions in the form of corrosion occurred.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Corrosion properties of friction welded dissimilar aluminum alloys seem to be governed by the anode part in the weld. </LI> <LI> Intense corrosion near the interface has the limited region due to insufficient ionic transport. </LI> <LI> Self-formation of a micro-galvanic cell is a main reason for the inferior corrosion performance. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical Abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        Revealing Joseon period People’s single nucleotide polymorphism associated with lactase gene by ancient DNA analysis of human remains from archaeological sites in Korea

        Lactase non-persistence (LNP), one of the causes of lactose intolerance, is related to lactase gene associated single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). Since the frequency of LNP varies by ethnic group and country, the research to reveal the presence or absence of LNP for specific people has been conducted worldwide. However, in East Asia, the study of lactase gene associated SNPs have not been sufficiently examined so far using ancient human specimens from archaeological sites. In our study of Joseon period human remains (n=14), we successfully revealed genetic information of lactase gene associated SNPs (rs1679771596, rs41525747, rs4988236, rs4988235, rs41380347, rs869051967, rs145946881 and rs182549), further confirming that as for eight SNPs, the pre-modern Korean people had a lactase non-persistent genotype. Our report contributes to the establishment of LNP associated SNP analysis technique that can be useful in forthcoming studies on human bones and mummy samples from East Asian archaeological sites.

        유아의 친사회적 행동에 대한 공감능력과 의도적 통제의 상호작용 효과 : 만 4, 5세 연령 차이를 중심으로

        Objectives: To examine the interaction effect of empathy and effortful control on prosocial behavior among Korean preschoolers. Methods: The participants of this study were 167 (82 boys, 85 girls) 4 and 5-year-olds from preschools in Seoul Province. Prosocial behavior was evaluated based on teachers’ reports. The level of empathy was measured by a task in which the children responded to the researcher’s questions and effortful control was assessed by behavioral tasks administered by the researcher. The data were preliminarily analyzed by t -tests and Pearson’s correlation analyses. The interaction effect of empathy and effortful control was analyzed with the SPSS 24.0 PROCESS MACRO. Results: First, the empathy and effortful control scores of the 5-year-olds were higher than those of the 4-year-olds, whereas there was no age difference in prosocial behavior. Second, in both 4 and 5 year-olds, empathy and effortful control were positively associated with prosocial behavior. Additionally, only for the 5-year-olds, girls demonstrated more prosocial behavior than boys. Third, for explaining the variance in prosocial behavior, there was a main effect of empathy for the 4-year-olds and a main effect of effortful control for the 5-year-olds. Finally, the interaction effect of empathy and effortful control on prosocial behavior was significant only for the 5-year-olds. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that as children grow older, empathy contributes to increased prosocial behavior, especially when the level of effortful control is adequate.

        톨트라주릴(Toltrazuril)을 이용한 제주도 넙치(Paralichthys olivaceus)의 점액포자충성 여윔증에 대한 치료법 연구

        본 연구에서는 점액포자충에 의한 넙치의 여윔증 치료 후보물질을 탐색하기 위하여, Coxi-stop, Coxiclin 및 BLEAN80 등의 제품을 사용하여 in vitro 및 in vivo 실험을 실시하였다. 톨트라주릴이 주성분인 Coxi-stop의 경우, BF-2 cell을 사용한 in vitro 실험에서 점액포자충의 활성을 감소시키는 결과를 보였고, cell lysis와 같은 세포 독성 현상이 나타나지 않았다. In vivo 실험에서 Coxi-stop을 사용하여 약욕한 실험군은 대조군에 비하여 누적폐사율이 낮게 나타났으며, 이것은 톨트라주릴이 어류 기생충성 질병에 치료 효과가 있다는 기존의 보고와 유사한 결과이다. 본 연구에서는 톨트라주릴이 넙치의 여윔증 치료제로서 가능성이 있는 후보 물질이라는 것을 제시한다. In order to search candidates for the treatment of myxosporean emaciation disease of olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus, in vitro and in vivo experiments were conducted using products such as Coxi-stop, Coxiclin, and BLEAN80. In the case of Coxi-stop, whose major component is toltrazuril, in vitro experiment using BF-2 cells showed a tendency of reducing the activity of myxosporea and did not exhibit cytotoxicity such as cell lysis. In the in vivo activity measurements, the experimental group immersed with Coxi-stop showed a lower cumulative mortality rate than the control group, this result is similar to the previous report that toltrazuril has a therapeutic effect on parasitic fish disease. This study suggests that toltrazuril is a potential candidate for the treatment of emaciation disease of olive flounder.
