본 연구에서 선발된 17종의 천연물을 Sprague- Dawley rat에 급여한 결과, 체중 증가, 에너지 소비, fat pads 중량, 간의 triglyceride 함량, atherogenic index 그리고 혈중 글루코오스의 함량 등이 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 특히 동아를 구강으로 섭취시킨 결과, 체중 증가, 에너지 소비, fat pads 중량, 그리고 혈중 글로코오스의 함량등이 감소하였으나, 간의 triglyceride 함량은 오디와 송엽의 열수 추출물보다 적게 감소하였다. 동아, 오디, 그리고 송엽을 혼합하여 사용한 결과, 각각의 원료를 사용할 경우보다 비만이 개선되는 것으로 나타났다. This study attempted to evaluate the effectiveness of function of Wax Gourd for obesity and the related disease of adult people can be developed by the combination of the 17 food materials screened in this study. The experiments using Sprague-Dawley male rats show that seventeen kinds of food material inhibited the increase of body weight gain, energy intake, fat pads weight, liver triglycerides content, atherogenic index, and blood glucose concentration induced by cafeteria diet. Oral administration of wax gourd decreased most body weight gain, energy intake, fat pads weight, and blood glucose concentration induced by cafeteria diet. Oral administration of wax gourd decreased most body weight gain, energy intake, fat pads weight, and blood glucose concentration. Liver triglycerides content was the lowest in the group administered mulberry stem extract and the group administered pine leaves showed the lowest atherogenic index. The combined administration of wax gourd, mulberry stem extract and pine leaves improved more the obesity and related symptoms than the individual administrations.

Pancreatic cystadenoma is very rare, slow growing tumor and generally preoperative differential diagnosis may be difficult. A 43-year-old female was admitted to our hospital with the complaint of abdominal discomfort in the epigastrium for about preceeding 5 years. Ultrasonography and Computed tomography were performed. When endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatogram was performed, displacement of distal pancreatic duct by huge mass was noted and injected dye was drained irregulary into the cavity of mass. Distal pancreatectomy was performed with splenectomy. The mass size of distal pancreas was 7X4cm, and the cyst contained with yellowish thick mucoid fluid. Diagnosis was confirmed the mutinous cystadenoma of the pancreas on histologic examination.

백색 LED를 사용한 LED조명이 확산되면서, 가시광선을 사용한 근거리통신에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 조명으로 사용하는 LED,가시광에 데이터를 실어 전송하는 통신방식은 군의 여러 가지 신호체계 간에 상호운용성의 보장을 위한 NCW에도 적용이 가능하다. 이는 군통신의 상호운용성을 위한 표준화와 밀접한 관계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 VLC 통신방식이 NCW구현에 적용될 수 있는 방안에 대하여 다룬다.
Robust query-by-singing/humming system against background noise environments

<P>Under background noise environments, the performance of the Query-by-Singing/Humming (QbSH) system is considerably degraded. Since human pitch information is used as a feature vector for the QbSH system, a noise robust pitch estimation algorithm is inevitable. Thus, a novel pitch-estimation method is proposed by integrating temporal-autocorrelation and spectral-salience methods. As a pre-processing block, spectral smoothing is applied to enhance the stationarity of the noisy input signal. To calculate the similarity between the MIDI database and input humming signal, the dynamic time warping (DTW) algorithm is used. Jang's corpus and AURORA2 database are selected as humming and background noise signals, respectively. Compared with the standard pitch estimation algorithm in the ITU-T G.729 speech codec, the proposed pitch estimation method improves the average accuracy by 11.7% for the 0 dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) noise case. It also improves top-20 ratio and mean reciprocal rank (MRR) of the proposed QbSH system, on average, by 7.4% and 0.13, respectively.</P>
β-Amino-n-butyric Acid Regulates Seedling Growth and Disease Resistance of Kimchi Cabbage

Non-protein amino acid, ${\beta}$-amino-n-butyric acid (BABA), has been involved in diverse physiological processes including seedling growth, stress tolerance and disease resistance of many plant species. In the current study, treatment of kimchi cabbage seedlings with BABA significantly reduced primary root elongation and cotyledon development in a dose-dependent manner, which adverse effects were similar to the plant response to exogenous abscisic acid (ABA) application. BABA was synergistically contributing ABA-induced growth arrest during the early seedling development. Kimchi cabbage leaves were highly damaged and seedling growth was delayed by foliar spraying with high concentrations of BABA (10 to 20 mM). BABA played roles differentially in in vitro fungal conidial germination, mycelial growth and conidation of necrotroph Alternaria brassicicola causing black spot disease and hemibiotroph Colletotrichum higginsianum causing anthracnose. Pretreatment with BABA conferred induced resistance of the kimchi cabbage against challenges by the two different classes of fungal pathogens in a dose-dependent manner. These results suggest that BABA is involved in plant development, fungal development as well as induced fungal disease resistance of kimchi cabbage plant.
Effects of 8-week resistance exercise on gait-related isokinetic muscle function in males by age

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of 8 weeks of resistance exercise on gait-related abilities and the differences in age groups to provide reference materials for application of training by age group. Subjects in their 30s, 40s, and 50s were recruited and subjected to a lower extremity exercise, in which the intensity gradually increased three times a week for eight weeks. The gait-related variables, torque at 0.18 sec, acceleration time, and torque at 30°, were assessed through isokinetic tests before and after the 8-week training. The torque at 0.18 sec showed a significant increase in the 50s group. There was no significant difference in acceleration time according to time and group. The torque at 30° showed a significant increase in the 30s group. In conclusion, 8 weeks resistance training can increase neuromuscular activity in adults in their 50s group, and changes in training variables are needed to increase torque at 30° that affects knee stabilization in adults over 40s group.
